🇺🇸Pray For The Peace of Jerusalem 🇮🇱(3/27/26)[Prayer]

A New Study For A New Year: Personalities

Exodus 6:1-13

6 Then the Lord said unto Moses, Now shalt thou see what I will do to Pharaoh: for with a strong hand shall he let them go, and with a strong hand shall he drive them out of his land.

2 And God spake unto Moses, and said unto him, I am the Lord:

3 And I appeared unto Abraham, unto Isaac, and unto Jacob, by the name of God Almighty, but by my name Jehovah was I not known to them.

4 And I have also established my covenant with them, to give them the land of Canaan, the land of their pilgrimage, wherein they were strangers.

5 And I have also heard the groaning of the children of Israel, whom the Egyptians keep in bondage; and I have remembered my covenant.

6 Wherefore say unto the children of Israel, I am the Lord, and I will bring you out from under the burdens of the Egyptians, and I will rid you out of their bondage, and I will redeem you with a stretched out arm, and with great judgments:

7 And I will take you to me for a people, and I will be to you a God: and ye shall know that I am the Lord your God, which bringeth you out from under the burdens of the Egyptians.

8 And I will bring you in unto the land, concerning the which I did swear to give it to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob; and I will give it you for an heritage: I am the Lord.

9 And Moses spake so unto the children of Israel: but they hearkened not unto Moses for anguish of spirit, and for cruel bondage.

10 And the Lord spake unto Moses, saying,

11 Go in, speak unto Pharaoh king of Egypt, that he let the children of Israel go out of his land.

12 And Moses spake before the Lord, saying, Behold, the children of Israel have not hearkened unto me; how then shall Pharaoh hear me, who am of uncircumcised lips?

13 And the Lord spake unto Moses and unto Aaron, and gave them a charge unto the children of Israel, and unto Pharaoh king of Egypt, to bring the children of Israel out of the land of Egypt.

Our Father In Heaven,

Holy and Sanctified is Your Most Wonderful Name!

You Alone Are Worthy;

You Alone Are LORD;

You Alone Are The Most High!

You Alone Are The One True God Of Abraham,

You Are The Ancient Of Days,

LORD of Hosts,

and Rock of All Ages,

Our Creator,

and All That Is.

You Are The Same Yesterday,

Today, and Forever.

Let all that has been Concealed
Be Revealed.

Father, We Pray For The Peace Of Jerusalem,
According To Your Will and Promise.
We Pray That You Will Forgive The Sins
of Our Own Nation,
and Lead us all to Godly Repentance.
Create in Us Clean Hearts, Oh LORD,
and Renew a Right Spirit Within Us.

This we Pray Together,
As We Await Your Messiah,
Blessed Be He,
To Set Up His Kingdom,
And Make All Things Right.

The brilliant, but very human, translators of the King James Bible were faced with a dilemma. Here is Moses, engaged in a conversation with Almighty God. Up until this point, all the nations had names for their gods and goddesses, but the One True God was only known by His attributes. He was called "Elohim" ("God") or "El Shaddai" (The All-Sufficient God), or as "The Most High". The reason for this was because the One True God's Name is so holy that it should never be said carelessly or with disrespect.

At the Burning Bush, Moses knew he would need to have a Name when presenting his case to the enslaved Hebrews. The answer to Moses' question (YHVH) is so deep and existential that it is impossible to "translate". It's even hard to pronounce without any vowels. As any singer will recognize, vowels are necessary to produce melodic sounds. Four consonants in a row can't be sung very well.

These Four Consonants are a mix of all three tenses of the Hebrew Word "To Be". That is Future, Present, and Past in that order. This is a hint of the Eternity of The One True God. He always will be, He is, and He always was. The closest way of expressing this would be "I AM", and so that's how God's Name was presented to Moses.

Bible Translations, to this very day, continue to respect the Holiness of the Name. In many of them (including the New American Standard and the NIV), the Name YHVH is rendered "The LORD" in upper case. This distinguishes it from "My Lord" which is usually the accepted translation of "Adonai" (Adon, "Lord" with the First Person Possessive suffix "Ai").

That works most of the time, but in Today's Passage, the translators have a problem. God is saying to Moses,

"You used to call Me 'El Shaddai', but now I want you to call Me 'YHVH'"

How do you translate THAT into English?

Early translators took the four letters from God's Name, and interspersed the vowels from "Adonai" (MY Lord) and came up with "Jehovah". For some reason the "Y" got changed to a "J", even though there is no "J" sound in Hebrew. Other translators picked up on this, and before you knew it, it became synonymous with the God of the Old Testament. It's easier to pronounce than God's Real Name, but without the sound of Breath of Life that the Four Consonant Name has.

By making God's Name easier to pronounce, the translators also made it easier to take God's Name in Vain. That's unfortunate, to say the least.

There's a reason pious Jews put a little dash in the word :"G-D". They don't want to break the commandment even by accident.

In English, we have dozens of euphemisms to avoid taking God's Name in vain. A few of them are:Gosh, Golly, Gee Whiz, Jeepers, Jeeze, and so on. It's probably best to avoid those euphemisms, but they've become so ingrained in out Language and Culture that it's not easy.

This conversation between Moses and The God of the Universe is an indication of Moses' desire to have a Friendship with the Almighty, and to know Him better. We will see more of this in the days to come.

Come and Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem, For Our FRiends in Need, For Persecuted Believers, and For Our Beloved Nation.

‘YHVH’ was described as ‘YH’ taking In
Your Breath of Air, exhaling that breath would sound like ‘VH’. Breath In and Breath Out ‘YHVH’ essentially being GOD in us. I imagine a Newborn taking It’s first Breath to a dying soul having it’s Last.
.
The Holiness ,POWER and Love of ‘YHVH’ IS
beyond our understanding...
Glory to God in The Highest!
