🇺🇸Pray For The Peace of Jerusalem 🇮🇱(3/17/26)[Prayer]

A New Study For A New Year: Personalities
Genesis 44
44 And he commanded the steward of his house, saying, Fill the men's sacks with food, as much as they can carry, and put every man's money in his sack's mouth.
2 And put my cup, the silver cup, in the sack's mouth of the youngest, and his corn money. And he did according to the word that Joseph had spoken.
3 As soon as the morning was light, the men were sent away, they and their asses.
4 And when they were gone out of the city, and not yet far off, Joseph said unto his steward, Up, follow after the men; and when thou dost overtake them, say unto them, Wherefore have ye rewarded evil for good?
5 Is not this it in which my lord drinketh, and whereby indeed he divineth? ye have done evil in so doing.
6 And he overtook them, and he spake unto them these same words.
7 And they said unto him, Wherefore saith my lord these words? God forbid that thy servants should do according to this thing:
8 Behold, the money, which we found in our sacks' mouths, we brought again unto thee out of the land of Canaan: how then should we steal out of thy lord's house silver or gold?
9 With whomsoever of thy servants it be found, both let him die, and we also will be my lord's bondmen.
10 And he said, Now also let it be according unto your words: he with whom it is found shall be my servant; and ye shall be blameless.
11 Then they speedily took down every man his sack to the ground, and opened every man his sack.
12 And he searched, and began at the eldest, and left at the youngest: and the cup was found in Benjamin's sack.
13 Then they rent their clothes, and laded every man his ass, and returned to the city.
14 And Judah and his brethren came to Joseph's house; for he was yet there: and they fell before him on the ground.
15 And Joseph said unto them, What deed is this that ye have done? wot ye not that such a man as I can certainly divine?
16 And Judah said, What shall we say unto my lord? what shall we speak? or how shall we clear ourselves? God hath found out the iniquity of thy servants: behold, we are my lord's servants, both we, and he also with whom the cup is found.
17 And he said, God forbid that I should do so: but the man in whose hand the cup is found, he shall be my servant; and as for you, get you up in peace unto your father.
18 Then Judah came near unto him, and said, Oh my lord, let thy servant, I pray thee, speak a word in my lord's ears, and let not thine anger burn against thy servant: for thou art even as Pharaoh.
19 My lord asked his servants, saying, Have ye a father, or a brother?
20 And we said unto my lord, We have a father, an old man, and a child of his old age, a little one; and his brother is dead, and he alone is left of his mother, and his father loveth him.
21 And thou saidst unto thy servants, Bring him down unto me, that I may set mine eyes upon him.
22 And we said unto my lord, The lad cannot leave his father: for if he should leave his father, his father would die.
23 And thou saidst unto thy servants, Except your youngest brother come down with you, ye shall see my face no more.
24 And it came to pass when we came up unto thy servant my father, we told him the words of my lord.
25 And our father said, Go again, and buy us a little food.
26 And we said, We cannot go down: if our youngest brother be with us, then will we go down: for we may not see the man's face, except our youngest brother be with us.
27 And thy servant my father said unto us, Ye know that my wife bare me two sons:
28 And the one went out from me, and I said, Surely he is torn in pieces; and I saw him not since:
29 And if ye take this also from me, and mischief befall him, ye shall bring down my gray hairs with sorrow to the grave.
30 Now therefore when I come to thy servant my father, and the lad be not with us; seeing that his life is bound up in the lad's life;
31 It shall come to pass, when he seeth that the lad is not with us, that he will die: and thy servants shall bring down the gray hairs of thy servant our father with sorrow to the grave.
32 For thy servant became surety for the lad unto my father, saying, If I bring him not unto thee, then I shall bear the blame to my father for ever.
33 Now therefore, I pray thee, let thy servant abide instead of the lad a bondman to my lord; and let the lad go up with his brethren.
34 For how shall I go up to my father, and the lad be not with me? lest peradventure I see the evil that shall come on my father.

Pray For The Peace of Jerusalem

Oh LORD,
Our God,
How Excellent,
How Wonderful,
How Perfect is Your Holy Name!
In Quietness and Confidence is Our Strength,
Because We Know That You Are Lord Over All Creation!
You Are On the Throne,
And You Are In Control!
Father, We Pray That You Will Bring Renewal to Our Beloved Nation.
We Pray That You Will Open The Eyes of People To Your Will For Our Land.
Let all that has been Concealed
Be Revealed.
Father, We Pray For The Peace Of Jerusalem,
According To Your Will and Promise.
We Pray That You Will Forgive The Sins
of Our Own Nation,
and Lead us all to Godly Repentance.
Create in Us Clean Hearts, Oh LORD,
and Renew a Right Spirit Within Us.
This we Pray Together,
As We Await Your Messiah,
Blessed Be He,

Why do people commit crimes? Psychologists will give you one answer, Theologians another, and many more will come from Sociologists, Criminologists, Government Officials, and "The Man In The Street". While many of the contributing factors may differ, Crime can probably be boiled down to some basic factors: Jealousy, Envy, and Covetousness. A person wants what somebody else has. This leads to the crime, which is rationalized by saying that the perpetrator deserved the thing he wanted, or that the victim deserved what befell him. That dynamic is called a "Sense of Entitlement", and is rampant in our Present Culture.
I liked it better in the olden days where crime was called "Crime", and Sin was called "Sin".
I do believe, however, there is a consensus among all of the above groups of people that the COVERUP of a Crime consumes more energy than the crime itself. The longer the coverup, the more stress is put on the perpetrator until something snaps. This was the theme of "Crime and Punishment", one of my favorite novels.
As a young teenager, I loved spooky stories and science fiction. My favorite authors were Ray Bradbury and Edgar Allen Poe. Both of those authors had a story about a guilty conscience. Poe's was "The Telltale Heart", and Bradbury's was "The Fruit at the Bottom of the Bowl." When I read the latter story, I was immediately reminded of the former, which I had read years before. Here is the synopsis of the plot from Wikipedia:
"Mr. Acton begins the story standing over the body of Mr. Huxley, whom he has just killed. While attempting to cover up his tracks, he has flashbacks of his encounters with Mr. Huxley, with whom he is having an altercation over a woman. These flashbacks reveal to the murderer that there are more and more of his fingerprints all over the man's house, because he thought that he had touched so many different objects. His frenzy to remove all of the evidence distracts him from his actual objective, to get away with the crime. He is eventually caught, after polishing the entire house, while polishing and re-polishing the glass fruit at the bottom of a bowl."
While "fingerprinting" a crime scene wasn't done in Poe's day (or in Dostoevsky's either), it was standard practice when Bradbury wrote his story. Nevertheless, even though forensic techniques vary, there is one thing that transcends the centuries. A man's conscience will often be more powerful than even the latest investigative techniques. It is the "Telltale Heart" and the fingerprints on "The Fruit at the Bottom of the Bowl."
What Joseph's Brothers did to him and his Father was heinous and unforgivable, no matter what their reasons. And they knew it. For nearly twenty years they would see their Father in mourning day after day, and be reminded of their sin against their Brother. It pops up in their conversations as a reason for Egypt's harsh treatment of them, for the set-up with the money and cup in their sacks, and their fear of going back with Benjamin. Their fingerprints are all over their filthy deed, and the Telltale Heart is beating a constant cadence of their guilt. No EKG or Microscope is necessary to discern the evidence.
This is one of the reasons Joseph had to put them through all those hoops. All of the Brothers had to come to repentance before they could be reconciled. None of the steps could be skipped over.
That simple fact seems to be lost on our present-day criminal justice system.

Psalm 91
1 You who live in the shelter of the Most High,
who abide in the shadow of the Almighty,*
2 will say to the Lord, ‘My refuge and my fortress;
my God, in whom I trust.’
3 For he will deliver you from the snare of the fowler
and from the deadly pestilence;
4 he will cover you with his pinions,
and under his wings you will find refuge;
his faithfulness is a shield and buckler.
5 You will not fear the terror of the night,
or the arrow that flies by day,
6 or the pestilence that stalks in darkness,
or the destruction that wastes at noonday.
7 A thousand may fall at your side,
ten thousand at your right hand,
but it will not come near you.
8 You will only look with your eyes
and see the punishment of the wicked.
9 Because you have made the Lord your refuge,*
the Most High your dwelling-place,
10 no evil shall befall you,
no scourge come near your tent.
11 For he will command his angels concerning you
to guard you in all your ways.
12 On their hands they will bear you up,
so that you will not dash your foot against a stone.
13 You will tread on the lion and the adder,
the young lion and the serpent you will trample under foot.
14 Those who love me, I will deliver;
I will protect those who know my name.
15 When they call to me, I will answer them;
I will be with them in trouble,
I will rescue them and honour them.
