🇺🇸Pray For The Peace of Jerusalem 🇮🇱(3/7/26)[Prayer]

A New Study For A New Year: Personalities
Genesis 33:1-20
33 And Jacob lifted up his eyes, and looked, and, behold, Esau came, and with him four hundred men. And he divided the children unto Leah, and unto Rachel, and unto the two handmaids.
2 And he put the handmaids and their children foremost, and Leah and her children after, and Rachel and Joseph hindermost.
3 And he passed over before them, and bowed himself to the ground seven times, until he came near to his brother.
4 And Esau ran to meet him, and embraced him, and fell on his neck, and kissed him: and they wept.
5 And he lifted up his eyes, and saw the women and the children; and said, Who are those with thee? And he said, The children which God hath graciously given thy servant.
6 Then the handmaidens came near, they and their children, and they bowed themselves.
7 And Leah also with her children came near, and bowed themselves: and after came Joseph near and Rachel, and they bowed themselves.
8 And he said, What meanest thou by all this drove which I met? And he said, These are to find grace in the sight of my lord.
9 And Esau said, I have enough, my brother; keep that thou hast unto thyself.
10 And Jacob said, Nay, I pray thee, if now I have found grace in thy sight, then receive my present at my hand: for therefore I have seen thy face, as though I had seen the face of God, and thou wast pleased with me.
11 Take, I pray thee, my blessing that is brought to thee; because God hath dealt graciously with me, and because I have enough. And he urged him, and he took it.
12 And he said, Let us take our journey, and let us go, and I will go before thee.
13 And he said unto him, My lord knoweth that the children are tender, and the flocks and herds with young are with me: and if men should overdrive them one day, all the flock will die.
14 Let my lord, I pray thee, pass over before his servant: and I will lead on softly, according as the cattle that goeth before me and the children be able to endure, until I come unto my lord unto Seir.
15 And Esau said, Let me now leave with thee some of the folk that are with me. And he said, What needeth it? let me find grace in the sight of my lord.
16 So Esau returned that day on his way unto Seir.
17 And Jacob journeyed to Succoth, and built him an house, and made booths for his cattle: therefore the name of the place is called Succoth.
18 And Jacob came to Shalem, a city of Shechem, which is in the land of Canaan, when he came from Padanaram; and pitched his tent before the city.
19 And he bought a parcel of a field, where he had spread his tent, at the hand of the children of Hamor, Shechem's father, for an hundred pieces of money.
20 And he erected there an altar, and called it EleloheIsrael.

Abba Father,
How Awesome You Are!
You Alone Are The One True God.
You Are The King of Kings,
LORD of Lords,
Ancient of Days,
and Rock of All Ages,
Our Creator,
You Are Before All Things,
And In You All Things Hold Together.
Your Loving Kindness Is from Everlasting To Everlasting.
Even When We Are Unfaithful,
You Are Always Faithful.
Let all that has been Concealed
Be Revealed.
Father, We Pray For The Peace Of Jerusalem,
According To Your Will and Promise.
We Pray That You Will Forgive The Sins
of Our Own Nation,
and Lead us all to Godly Repentance.
Create in Us Clean Hearts, Oh LORD,
and Renew a Right Spirit Within Us.
This we Pray Together,
As We Await Your Messiah,
Blessed Be He,
To Set Up His Kingdom,
And Make All Things Right.

We've spent a lot of time discussing Jacob (Israel)'s Personality, and we seem to have forgotten Esau. But, Esau has not forgotten Jacob. They were, after all, Twin Brothers, and shared an emotional bond from even before they were born. They struggled with each other in the womb. You can't get any closer than that. But nobody likes to be on the butt end of a scam, and Esau had every right to be angry. His murderous intent was over-the-top, but Esau's anger was justified at the time.
Years ago, when we went through Genesis, I had this to say about Esau:
"One of the advantages of Home Ownership is Equity. Equity happens when, through diligent payments on the mortgage, prompt repairs and improvements of the property, and changing economic conditions cause the property to be worth more than it was when you bought it. Thus, when the property is sold, after the mortgage is satisfied, and all the bills are paid, the amount left over is Profit. What gets paid off plus your profit is called the Equity that YOU have built up over the years. When you do all the repairs yourself, it is called "Sweat Equity".
The money you save by not hiring contractors may be a bundle, but if you are going to "Do-It-Yourself", make sure you do it CORRECTLY. Muddled, poor construction that is not according to code can actually decrease the value of a property rather than enhance it. It doesn't seem fair that, after all that "Sweat", there isn't any "Equity"
Modern-day Media and Academia have altered the simple meaning of "Equity" to mean something totally different. Not to be confused with "Equality", the modern usage implies that, even if one's ANCESTORS suffered an injustice (and whose hasn't?), others have to give up some of their equity (often produced with much sweat) to compensate the descendants of the alleged victims. The chain of custody of this blame-game is often quite convoluted and arcane, and frequently based upon the mere color of one's skin.
Since my own Ancestors were part of the Acadian Diaspora on one side, and the Irish Potato Famine on the other, today's proponents of "Equity" should be clamoring for some payments for me from modern-day Great Britain. And, my late husband, a Jew, should have been getting a check every month from Egypt, Babylon, and, of course, Germany. But...it doesn't work that way. And I certainly don't expect any "reparations".
There are quite a few stories in the Bible that don't seem "fair" to us. If we apply our own standards of "fairness", Ishmael, Hagar, Esau, and a whole bunch of other people got a raw deal. We can rationalize all we want, but the actions that led to the rejection of these individuals from the line of Messiah seem arbitrary. Abraham should not have impregnated Hagar, and he should not have thrown Ishmael out, and Jacob should not have stolen Esau's Birthright. IT'S NOT FAIR!!!
But, as we can see from today's reading, God has a way of working things out for people who have been treated unfairly by society. Ishmael had twelve sons, and they all became princes. Hagar had obtained a bride for him, and ended up with many grandchildren. One of them ended up marrying Esau. Now, Esau, even without the Birthright or his Father's Blessing, ended up having many descendants who populate the region to this day. Even the Capital City of Jordan is named after one of his sons.
From the Scripture portion we can see that Esau was the father and grandfather of a number of kings who ruled long before the Israelites even thought of having a king.
And so, it is worthwhile to plow through "The Begats" and not skip over them. Life isn't fair, and it never was, and our poor efforts to provide "Equity" will always fail. And yet, God sees all, and knows the End from the Beginning, and the Beginning from the End. Sometimes He even offers us a glimpse of it, if we know where to look."
There are some important "religious" questions that come up in the story of Jacob and Esau:
1. Jacob Didn't Deserve Forgiveness: He scammed his Brother, and ran out of town. He was gone for over twenty years.
2. Jacob Couldn't BUY Forgiveness: All the Sheep and Goats in the World are worthless without repentance.
3. Esau's Forgiveness Was An Act of Pure Grace: Esau, often depicted as a villain in Devotional Literature, (probably because of his Impulsiveness and Death Threats), models the Grace of God The Father. That happens when Esau himself extends Forgiveness before Jacob begins his little speech. This is similar to the Father in the Parable of the Prodigal Son (Luke 15:11-31). The father sees his son from afar, and runs out to greet him. He hugs the son, even though the miserable kid is covered in filthy rags.
There's nothing Jacob can bring to the table except his own repentant heart.
