Days after we broke the story that prominent Pentecostal pastor and evangelist Ted Shuttlesworth Jr. has stepped down from ministry (at least temporarily) after revealing that he’s been cheating on his wife and having “inappropriate conversations” with other women, his church has also closed down.
While the church’s social media pages haven’t been updated in a while, a banner at the top of Miracle Word Church in West Palm Beach, Florida reads that the church is closed.
According to our sources, Shuttlesworth was actually outed several months ago but waited until now to tell ministry partners about the sexual misconduct.
The closure of the church was announced at last week’s service.
While the church has been shuttered, at least for now, parts of the ministry will live on, with co-pastor Carolyn Shuttlesworth continuing the church’s Unshakable Women’s Bible Study ministry.
Ted Jr. shared the news of his infidelity with ministry partners in a letter exclusively obtained by Protestia:
Unfortunately, in the midst of so many miracles and breakthroughs, I let my own guard down….I failed to stand in my authority when temptations came.
Needless to say, my actions opened the door, which I allowed, for sin to come in through loose and inappropriate conversations with the opposite sex.
Noting that “This letter contains no excuses because there are none. As believers, we should always hold ourselves to a standard of uncompromising holiness. Anything less is displeasing to the Lord,” he reveals:
These sinful actions culminated in sexual activity with a woman who was not my wife. I’m extremely ashamed and deeply grieved by my actions.
For now, I am stepping away from ministry.
I’ve repented to the Lord and asked Him to heal and protect my family from the damage this has caused.
I have also repented to my wife. Other than my salvation, Carolyn is the greatest gift the Lord has given me. She has been so gracious and strong. She’s truly an unbelievable woman, and she continues to amaze me.

sounds like a victim...He left opened a door and In Flew Enza....
Maybe start reality TV show? Podcast?
I hope he knows that it ain’t his church.
He’s just a steward. At least he had the guts to shut it down and step aside.

So he confessed to inappropriate conversations?

Some whore came up to him at the watercooler, he felt a tingle... and then Satan swooped in.
His wife is still co-pastor, and continuing?
Is he stopping tithes and offereings?
If his father is a preacher I believe I heard his father preach at a church MANY years ago
Fair questions.

Church gone, what’s left to sue?
Satan knows mens weakness.
Might have been a way to hide all financial dealings....I hope he really believes in Christ and repents, cause if he doesn’t he is eternally toast, says Jesus. God is not mocked.
Church congregations now have to monitor their leadership to keep them in line. Pretty sad.

Unbelievably, he also said, ”I have also repented to my wife. Other than my salvation, Carolyn is the greatest gift the Lord has given me. She has been so gracious and strong. She’s truly an unbelievable woman, and she continues to amaze me.”
He just has absolutely no respect for her, to say the very least.
I had never heard of this guy until 2 or 3 days ago. Was scanning the channels and stopped on a Jesus channel. This guy was holding a faith healing service similiar to Ernest Angley’s in years past. Guess I won’t be seeing much of him again.
His sin has found him out, and he seems to be holding himself accountable to his wife, to his church, to God, and to himself.
I am not qualified to cast stones; I pray he “goes and sins no more”.
“This guy was holding a faith healing service similiar to Ernest Angley’s in years past. Guess I won’t be seeing much of him again.”
I remember that guy and his voice annoyed me so much.
My reaction as well. A real church doesn’t shut down when a pastor goes astray. It may be appropriate or even necessary that a pastor resign from the ministry, but the church community carries on. Cults of personality shut down. Churches don’t.
He’ll do nine months of tearful “rehabilitation” and be right back at it.
