🇺🇸Pray For The Peace of Jerusalem 🇮🇱(2/25/26)[Prayer]

A New Study For A New Year: Personalities

Genesis 29:16-31

16 And Laban had two daughters: the name of the elder was Leah, and the name of the younger was Rachel.

17 Leah was tender eyed; but Rachel was beautiful and well favoured.

18 And Jacob loved Rachel; and said, I will serve thee seven years for Rachel thy younger daughter.

19 And Laban said, It is better that I give her to thee, than that I should give her to another man: abide with me.

20 And Jacob served seven years for Rachel; and they seemed unto him but a few days, for the love he had to her.

21 And Jacob said unto Laban, Give me my wife, for my days are fulfilled, that I may go in unto her.

22 And Laban gathered together all the men of the place, and made a feast.

23 And it came to pass in the evening, that he took Leah his daughter, and brought her to him; and he went in unto her.

24 And Laban gave unto his daughter Leah Zilpah his maid for an handmaid.

25 And it came to pass, that in the morning, behold, it was Leah: and he said to Laban, What is this thou hast done unto me? did not I serve with thee for Rachel? wherefore then hast thou beguiled me?

26 And Laban said, It must not be so done in our country, to give the younger before the firstborn.

27 Fulfil her week, and we will give thee this also for the service which thou shalt serve with me yet seven other years.

28 And Jacob did so, and fulfilled her week: and he gave him Rachel his daughter to wife also.

29 And Laban gave to Rachel his daughter Bilhah his handmaid to be her maid.

30 And he went in also unto Rachel, and he loved also Rachel more than Leah, and served with him yet seven other years.

31 And when the Lord saw that Leah was hated, he opened her womb: but Rachel was barren.

Pray For The Peace of Jerusalem

Our Heavenly Father,
How Wonderful You Are!
You Alone Are LORD.
You Alone Are The Most High!
You Alone Are The One True God.
You Make The Streams Run in the Desert,
Water from The Rock,
And Make The Desert Blossom and Bloom Like A Rose.
All Our Abundance Comes From You.
You Are Before All Things,
And In You All Things Hold Together.

Let all that has been Concealed
Be Revealed.

Father, We Pray For The Peace Of Jerusalem,
According To Your Will and Promise.
We Pray That You Will Forgive The Sins
of Our Own Nation,
and Lead us all to Godly Repentance.
Create in Us Clean Hearts, Oh LORD,
and Renew a Right Spirit Within Us.

This we Pray Together,
As We Await Your Messiah,
Blessed Be He,
To Set Up His Kingdom,
And Make All Things Right.

”The Greatest Of these Is Love.”

Western Wedding Customs have some strange origins. The Bride's Family is seated on one side of the church, and the Groom's on the other. The Father of the Bride leads her, veiled, to the altar to "give her away". The Groom lifts the veil and uncovers her face. The officiant declares that if there are any objections to the Marriage, "Speak NOW, or Forever Hold Your Peace".

Today's Reading shows a possible origin of some of these customs.

There are a lot of "Personalities" in this Chapter. We know Jacob, but we are reintroduced to Laban (who is at least as wily as Jacob), Rachel, who is lovely to look at, Leah, whose eyes may have been weak but went along with Laban's Scheme), and Two Maids, who end up being in the Mix.

There was probably a lot of "Adult Beverages" at the Wedding Reception, and, remember, NO ELECTRICITY for illumination.

It was a lot easier to pull off this scam in Ancient Biblical Times, but we still have that little custom of "unveiling" the Bride before the Rites are started!

Come and Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem, For Our FRiends in Need, For Persecuted Believers, and For Our Beloved Nation.

”Let us acknowledge the LORD; let us press on to acknowledge him. As surely as the sun rises, he will appear; he will come to us like the winter rains, like the spring rains that water the earth.” (Hosea 6:3 NIV)

I always felt sorry for Leah.

Stuck in a loveless marriage where her younger sister was the favorite.

I have too.

But I learned something special about Leah in the Tomb of the Patriarchs in Hebron. She is buried there with Jacob as his true Wife.

Rachel’s Tomb is near Bethlehem, as she died in childbirth while enroute. Rachel was the mother of Joseph and Benjamin, who were instrumental in saving the Hebrews AND Egypt, and maybe the entire known world at the time.

But Leah was the mother of Judah, and in the Line of the Messiah.

God blessed her mightily, maybe BECAUSE she was stuck in a loveless marriage.

Amen to your prayer and word. The tricker got tricked, ha!. Seems to me it ran in the family. Ones bad characters are sometimes worse in the next generation, my self observation in my sons.

That’s the paradox with Women who are under the veil. The make up their eyes so much that they are more alluring than just a normal, open, lightly made-up face.

It has the exact opposite of the effect of the veiling of women in those repressive societies.
