🇺🇸Pray For The Peace of Jerusalem 🇮🇱(2/24/26)[Prayer]

A New Study For A New Year: Personalities

Genesis 29:1-15

29 Then Jacob went on his journey, and came into the land of the people of the east.

2 And he looked, and behold a well in the field, and, lo, there were three flocks of sheep lying by it; for out of that well they watered the flocks: and a great stone was upon the well's mouth.

3 And thither were all the flocks gathered: and they rolled the stone from the well's mouth, and watered the sheep, and put the stone again upon the well's mouth in his place. 4 And Jacob said unto them, My brethren, whence be ye? And they said, Of Haran are we.

5 And he said unto them, Know ye Laban the son of Nahor? And they said, We know him.

6 And he said unto them, Is he well? And they said, He is well: and, behold, Rachel his daughter cometh with the sheep.

7 And he said, Lo, it is yet high day, neither is it time that the cattle should be gathered together: water ye the sheep, and go and feed them.

8 And they said, We cannot, until all the flocks be gathered together, and till they roll the stone from the well's mouth; then we water the sheep.

9 And while he yet spake with them, Rachel came with her father's sheep; for she kept them.

10 And it came to pass, when Jacob saw Rachel the daughter of Laban his mother's brother, and the sheep of Laban his mother's brother, that Jacob went near, and rolled the stone from the well's mouth, and watered the flock of Laban his mother's brother.

11 And Jacob kissed Rachel, and lifted up his voice, and wept.

12 And Jacob told Rachel that he was her father's brother, and that he was Rebekah's son: and she ran and told her father.

13 And it came to pass, when Laban heard the tidings of Jacob his sister's son, that he ran to meet him, and embraced him, and kissed him, and brought him to his house. And he told Laban all these things.

14 And Laban said to him, Surely thou art my bone and my flesh. And he abode with him the space of a month.

15 And Laban said unto Jacob, Because thou art my brother, shouldest thou therefore serve me for nought? tell me, what shall thy wages be?

Pray For The Peace of Jerusalem

Abba Father,
How Awesome You Are!
You Alone Are LORD,
You Alone Are The Most High!
You Alone Are The One True God Of Abraham,
You Are The King of Kings,
LORD of Lords,
and Rock of All Ages,
Our Creator,
You Are Before All Things,
And In You All Things Hold Together.
Your Loving Kindness Is from Everlasting To Everlasting.
Even When We Are Unfaithful,
You Are Always Faithful.

Let all that has been Concealed
Be Revealed.

Father, We Pray For The Peace Of Jerusalem,
According To Your Will and Promise.
We Pray That You Will Forgive The Sins
of Our Own Nation,
and Lead us all to Godly Repentance.
Create in Us Clean Hearts, Oh LORD,
and Renew a Right Spirit Within Us.

This we Pray Together,
As We Await Your Messiah,
Blessed Be He,
To Set Up His Kingdom,
And Make All Things Right.

”The Greatest Of these Is Love.”

Yesterday, I had a whole story all written out for the "Jacob's Ladder" Episode in the Bible. Right as I was ready to post, the Power to the entire community went out. The gale-force winds and heavy snow took out a whole line of trees which landed on the very powerlines that serve our little Mobile Home Park. Wind-blown snow drifted up the sides of our houses and encrusted all the windows, so we were plunged into cold semi-darkness. Since my piano is electric, I couldn't even amuse myself by practicing scales.

The wind blew at the front of the house, and when I opened the door, I was confronted by a three-foot wall of snow that had to be breached if Tippy was going to get her walk...if I could just get from the door to the street. It's a mere 15 feet but seemed like a mile of shoveling.

Later in the day, after ten hours with no power, a fellow musician came over from his house, which still had power, and evacuated My Sister, Tippy, and Me. He has three dogs, so we figured they would keep Tippy in check.(Alas, NO. She was as bossy as ever). At 8:00PM I got a call that our power had been restored, and our musician friend drove us back home.

The Music Community provided us with Refuge when the Property Management Company, (while sending a plow, OK), just sent us residents an email saying they didn't have any idea when power would be restored, but in the meantime, don't burden our wastewater infrastructure, and don't flush the toilets too much.

Four years ago, we had a similar storm that was not nearly as severe as this one. It was the Community that came together that time too: (back in 2022)

"Yesterday, I finished the Thread early and went out for my morning walk. As I was walking Penny, I noticed that the aluminum awning over my front doorway had about a foot of snow on it. "That's dangerous," I mused, "But I'm too short to reach it, even with a broom. What was I going to do?" As I walked a little further, I noticed that the older couple next door had not shoveled out yet. The walkway, front stairs, and automobile were still covered in a foot of snow, which meant that nobody had left the house in three days. "I'll have to check on them." I planned, "But I will have to change into boots."

Then I saw my neighbor Don (who is tall) walking his little dog Lola. I asked him about the awning, and he said he would take Lola home and come back with a ladder.

I had just gotten a Five-Disk CD Changer for $8.00 at the local charity thrift store, and had figured out a way of connecting it to my stereo system (I used to have my own recording studio so I am good at stuff like that), so I asked Don if he would like to have the self-contained CD player that I had been using ($15.00 at another thrift store) and he said that he would love it, but he didn't have any cd's. That's OK, I have a lot of doubles...Eric Clapton, Led Zeppelin, and the Stones. "YEAH! I would LOVE that!" he said. "By the way, do you have a sewing machine? I need to fix my pants." "I'll do that for you," I said. "Just bring 'em over when you have a chance."

So then, I brought Penny into the house, washed the salt off her paws, and changed into my heavy snow boots to wade up to my neighbor's door and knock. ("I sure hope they aren't dead in there!" I prayed.) The man came to the door and I asked if everything was OK. It was unusual for them not to be the first ones to shovel out. It turned out that everything was fine, and they had just decided to let it melt by itself. OK! Mission accomplished. I went home, packed up the portable CD player and chose some good CDs for Don just in time for Don to come over with his truck and a ladder and he cleared the snow off the awning. Then I went back into the house, fed the dog, did my Bible reading with breakfast and coffee, and called my little sister to see if she needed a ride anywhere because she doesn't have a car right now. I told her about the Five-Disk CD Changer I got for eight bucks at the Salvation Army, and how I got it to work with my system. "Wow!" she said. "Do they have any more? I need one of those because I have hundreds of CDs that I can't play anymore."

Well I knew there weren't any more at "Sally's" but another charity store nearby had THREE of them. There was a Sony, a JVC, and a Panasonic. They were $15.00 each. We could test them at the store and pick the best one, and I would help hook it up to her system which is similar to mine.

So I drove over to her house and picked her and her 100% disabled hubby, and we went to the Thrift Store. The three CD Changers were there and they all worked. I recommended the JVC, and we went back to her house to install it. On the way home, I dropped off several bags of donations at yet another Thrift Store, and we went to a used record store and hung out with the Youths there who think we are awesome because we actually saw the iconic Classic Rock bands in Concert back-in-the-day. There was a box that said "FREE" and I got a Dylan Album (John Wesley Harding) for free because the cover was a mess. The record inside was fine and played great once I cleaned it up.

Upon coming home, I found out that my nephew's Band was playing at a big venue in Boston along with two other bands that had recommended them for the gig. I couldn't imagine attempting Boston Traffic and Parking after a snowstorm, but they were SOLD OUT anyway. And so, last night, I listened to Four Lps of the "World's Greatest Piano Music Reader's Digest Collection" that I got for a dollar at Sally's, and cuddled with Penny on the couch. It had been a GOOD day!"

Two snowstorms, four years apart, and both times the Communities came forward when the Government and the Landlord were "unavailable". I can understand that the Government had their hands full, but the Landlord just plowed the street and sent us an email saying not to flush our toilets. With everything run by electricity these days, the toilet is the only thing that actually WORKS! Anyway. Here we have Jacob, fleeing the murderous intent of Esau, fleeing to relatives he has never met. He comes to a well, covered by a huge stone, surrounded by some loitering shepherds. The shepherds explain that the stone is so heavy that they need a whole community of shepherds to move the stone. They're just hanging around until the rest of the "muscle" arrives.

Then, Jacob sees Rachel.

Whether it was adrenaline, testosterone, or God giving Jacob the strength, Jacob heaves the stone away and opens the well.

Those of us who see typology and symbols in nearly every passage in the Bible might ponder this:

1. Seeing his Future Bride: Jacob sees Rachel and falls immediately in LOVE.

2. The Religion: It took a whole community to move the stone. Nobody could move it by themselves, except:

3. Jacob: He rolled away the stone, opening up the :

4. Well of Living Water: In The Gospel of John, Jesus is attending the Feast of Tabernacles in Jerusalem. He is there with the whole Community of Israel, as this is a Mandatory Feast Day. He stands up in public and declares:

He that believeth on me, as the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water.

Now, if I could just get some big strong man (or even a community of shepherds) to help me shovel this SNOW!

Come and Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem, For Our FRiends in Need, For Persecuted Believers, and For Our Beloved Nation.

”Let us acknowledge the LORD; let us press on to acknowledge him. As surely as the sun rises, he will appear; he will come to us like the winter rains, like the spring rains that water the earth.” (Hosea 6:3 NIV)

Psalm 91

1 You who live in the shelter of the Most High,
who abide in the shadow of the Almighty,*
2 will say to the Lord, ‘My refuge and my fortress;
my God, in whom I trust.’
3 For he will deliver you from the snare of the fowler
and from the deadly pestilence;
4 he will cover you with his pinions,
and under his wings you will find refuge;
his faithfulness is a shield and buckler.
5 You will not fear the terror of the night,
or the arrow that flies by day,
6 or the pestilence that stalks in darkness,
or the destruction that wastes at noonday.

7 A thousand may fall at your side,
ten thousand at your right hand,
but it will not come near you.
8 You will only look with your eyes
and see the punishment of the wicked.

9 Because you have made the Lord your refuge,*
the Most High your dwelling-place,
10 no evil shall befall you,
no scourge come near your tent.

11 For he will command his angels concerning you
to guard you in all your ways.
12 On their hands they will bear you up,
so that you will not dash your foot against a stone.
13 You will tread on the lion and the adder,
the young lion and the serpent you will trample under foot.

14 Those who love me, I will deliver;
I will protect those who know my name.
15 When they call to me, I will answer them;
I will be with them in trouble,
I will rescue them and honour them.
