Today, February 22/ 5 Adar, marks 46 years to the day [on both calendars] since the Miracle on Ice victory over the Soviet Union.
Team USA is all smiles.
(February 22nd is another double birthday observance day; also tis the birthday of the father of our nation.)
Adar is the month of Purim. As such, it is a month for Jewish commentaries involving wine.
The Secret of Wine
And wine maketh glad the heart of man.. (Psalm 104:15)
Wine enters, secrets emerge (Sanhedrin 38a.3)

Purim commentaries explain that one is to drink until one cannot distinguish between "cursed be Haman" and "blessed be Mordecai", even though Haman's worst day was a good day for Mordecai. The real difference is in the force, energy -- passive or active, potential or kinetic.

my best friend found out from genealogy websites last night that she is part Jewish. She thought she was German, but apparently there were a couple recent Ashkenazi ladies in her tree. I know you go through the paternal line for some things but hey, genes are genes.

The important thing is that the epic announcement got out:
