🇺🇸Pray For The Peace of Jerusalem 🇮🇱(2/18/26)[Prayer]

A New Study For A New Year: Personalities
Genesis 27:18-29
18 And he came unto his father, and said, My father: and he said, Here am I; who art thou, my son?
19 And Jacob said unto his father, I am Esau thy first born; I have done according as thou badest me: arise, I pray thee, sit and eat of my venison, that thy soul may bless me.
20 And Isaac said unto his son, How is it that thou hast found it so quickly, my son? And he said, Because the Lord thy God brought it to me.
21 And Isaac said unto Jacob, Come near, I pray thee, that I may feel thee, my son, whether thou be my very son Esau or not.
22 And Jacob went near unto Isaac his father; and he felt him, and said, The voice is Jacob's voice, but the hands are the hands of Esau.
23 And he discerned him not, because his hands were hairy, as his brother Esau's hands: so he blessed him.
24 And he said, Art thou my very son Esau? And he said, I am.
25 And he said, Bring it near to me, and I will eat of my son's venison, that my soul may bless thee. And he brought it near to him, and he did eat: and he brought him wine and he drank.
26 And his father Isaac said unto him, Come near now, and kiss me, my son.
27 And he came near, and kissed him: and he smelled the smell of his raiment, and blessed him, and said, See, the smell of my son is as the smell of a field which the Lord hath blessed:
28 Therefore God give thee of the dew of heaven, and the fatness of the earth, and plenty of corn and wine:
29 Let people serve thee, and nations bow down to thee: be lord over thy brethren, and let thy mother's sons bow down to thee: cursed be every one that curseth thee, and blessed be he that blesseth thee.

Psalm 91
1 You who live in the shelter of the Most High,
who abide in the shadow of the Almighty,*
2 will say to the Lord, ‘My refuge and my fortress;
my God, in whom I trust.’
3 For he will deliver you from the snare of the fowler
and from the deadly pestilence;
4 he will cover you with his pinions,
and under his wings you will find refuge;
his faithfulness is a shield and buckler.
5 You will not fear the terror of the night,
or the arrow that flies by day,
6 or the pestilence that stalks in darkness,
or the destruction that wastes at noonday.
7 A thousand may fall at your side,
ten thousand at your right hand,
but it will not come near you.
8 You will only look with your eyes
and see the punishment of the wicked.
9 Because you have made the Lord your refuge,*
the Most High your dwelling-place,
10 no evil shall befall you,
no scourge come near your tent.
11 For he will command his angels concerning you
to guard you in all your ways.
12 On their hands they will bear you up,
so that you will not dash your foot against a stone.
13 You will tread on the lion and the adder,
the young lion and the serpent you will trample under foot.
14 Those who love me, I will deliver;
I will protect those who know my name.
15 When they call to me, I will answer them;
I will be with them in trouble,
I will rescue them and honour them.

For 16 years, I've never had any problem finding images for this Thread. There was a period when I could create my own, and I'd gathered over 17,000 images(NOT a Typo). Then that site shut down and I lost all my artwork. The images are probably still floating around somewhere, but I can't access them anymore.
Now I've noticed that the images online have decreased in quality due to the proliferation of Artificial Intelligence. Although the images are sharper and more detailed, there are incongruities that don't line up with Scripture, History, or whatever. As I perused Yesterday's Thread, I noticed that I posted an image of Jacob "suiting up" in animal skins to visit Jacob. On the floor of the Bronze-Age hut was a bowl of brightly colored Easter Eggs! How did I miss that? Oh Well. Here's an article I wrote years ago about Computer Obsolescence, long before AI became a "thing".
Three Little Stories:
1. The Lost iPod. My sister recently got a new (used) car given to her (Hallelujah) and so it was time to junk the heap that had been sitting in her driveway for months. As she was cleaning out the old car, she found her obsolete iPod in the glove compartment. Although the iPod contained 1500 of her favorite songs, she no longer has "access" to them because she doesn't have a computer. Oh well, she's getting "back into Vinyl" now, so the iPod is useless. Her new car doesn't have a jack for the device, so it is destined for the trash.
2. Computer Woes. As many of you know, I am a Songwriter, and have written hundreds of songs. At one time I stored the Audio of my music in a Mac Mini, and the actual Sheet Music in a PC specially equipped for that purpose. I also had all the Graphics for Cover-Art, CD Jewel Cases, and CD Labeling stored in the PC. I suppose there is some way of recovering the data from the PC, but it would be at great expense because the software is so old and there is no back-up. I don't have the time, the money, or even the desire to dig up that old stuff, but I can't bear to throw the CPU out. And so there it is, on the floor next to me, taking up at least TWO of my precious 754 Square Feet of Living Space. And, Oh. I forgot to tell you. iTunes no longer supports my old Mac Mini, so I am unable to access my own original music in Audio form either. Except on my iPod, which is plugged into my car, and will not work if removed, just like my sister's.
3. Scattered Pictures of the Smiles We Left Behind. Another Sister, an accomplished Photographer, stored all of her photos on Facebook. After years of putting up with FB's political Nonsense, Sis decided it was time to part ways with them. The only thing that was keeping her tethered to the site were her photos. She attempted the arduous process of retrieving her art, but it was too daunting a task, and so, she left it all behind.
All three of us learned a hard lesson about Access. The powerful entities that design computers, websites, the Cloud, cell-phones, Music services, Social Media, and entertainment can control access to artists even if it is their OWN work. The artist loses not only control over their own creation, but access as well. The whole original point of Intellectual Property Organizations was to protect the Artist, not the Publisher. But it has evolved into an entirely new picture over the last few years.
Now perhaps you have found my rant entertaining, but what does it have to do with Today's Reading, or the subject of Prayer? Let's look at the passage again:
5 Therefore, since we have been justified through faith, we[a] have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, 2 through whom we have gained access by faith into this grace in which we now stand. And we[b] boast in the hope of the glory of God. 3 Not only so, but we[c] also glory in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; 4 perseverance, character; and character, hope. 5 And hope does not put us to shame, because God's love has been poured out into our hearts through the Holy Spirit, who has been given to us.
6 You see, at just the right time, when we were still powerless, Christ died for the ungodly. 7 Very rarely will anyone die for a righteous person, though for a good person someone might possibly dare to die. 8 But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.
9 Since we have now been justified by his blood, how much more shall we be saved from God's wrath through him! 10 For if, while we were God's enemies, we were reconciled to him through the death of his Son, how much more, having been reconciled, shall we be saved through his life! 11 Not only is this so, but we also boast in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have now received reconciliation.(Romans 5)
For thousands of years, humans have tried to access the Creator of the Universe. Nature is so beautiful, and the Universe so awesome, that it is obvious that there is "Someone" out there Who created it all. It is what the Bible calls "Eternity in Our Hearts". A human culture that does NOT have some kind of "religion" is so rare that I can't name one. Even fossils of Early Humans show tattoos, amulets, even grave flowers, that point to a belief system. Oh how we want Access! But the One Who created everything is so BIG and so far above us, how can we get access to Him?
Paul addresses this in his letter to the Romans. He even uses the word "Access". It is by Faith in the Finished Work of Jesus Christ, Who, while we were still sinners, died for us and rose from the Dead. And that is why The Gospel is GOOD NEWS. It is the news we have been waiting for since Ice-Man scratched sacred symbols on his skin or buried his wife with flowers. The Flowers, Charms, and tattoos were worthless, but exhibited the Longing that is in all of us. And that Longing is for Reconciliation. And for that, we need Access.
We're going to camp out on this Chapter for a few days, because it reveals a lot about several Personalities. The whole Isaac Family is involved, and we will look at each person separately.
Rebecca has come a long way from the innocent, helpful virgin at the well. Isaac was forty when they wed, and she was probably in her teens or twenties. Twenty years doesn't make that much of a difference during a man's prime, but now, Isaac is in his eighties, and Rebecca is in her sixties. It's a long, long time, from May to December!
From the context, it seems like access to the father was curated. Isaac could summon them, but the sons just didn't walk into Isaac's tent anytime they felt like it. Now that Isaac's eyesight had failed, it was more likely that Rebecca kept an eye on who went in and came out of the tent. This gave her a measure of control, which made her more "manipulative".
It was her idea that Jacob should steal the Blessing (and the bulk of the inheritance) from his older (by a few minutes) brother Esau.
Jacob is at first appalled at her suggestion and lists reasons why he can't go through with her plan, but Rebecca has an answer for everything. Jacob isn't just an innocent bystander in this scheme. He already tricked Esau into selling his Birthright for a bowl of Lentil Soup. (I LOVE Lentil Soup, but I have to draw the line somewhere.)
Rebecca may have known in her heart that God wanted Jacob to have the Birthright, but that's just speculation on my part. If she did, then she should also have also known that He would make His Will come to pass WITHOUT her meddling.
Tomorrow we'll look at Esau. (Mom always liked you best!)
