🇺🇸Pray For The Peace of Jerusalem 🇮🇱(2/7/26)[Prayer]

A New Study For A New Year: Personalities
Genesis 24
24 And Abraham was old, and well stricken in age: and the Lord had blessed Abraham in all things.
2 And Abraham said unto his eldest servant of his house, that ruled over all that he had, Put, I pray thee, thy hand under my thigh:
3 And I will make thee swear by the Lord, the God of heaven, and the God of the earth, that thou shalt not take a wife unto my son of the daughters of the Canaanites, among whom I dwell:
4 But thou shalt go unto my country, and to my kindred, and take a wife unto my son Isaac.
5 And the servant said unto him, Peradventure the woman will not be willing to follow me unto this land: must I needs bring thy son again unto the land from whence thou camest?
6 And Abraham said unto him, Beware thou that thou bring not my son thither again.
7 The Lord God of heaven, which took me from my father's house, and from the land of my kindred, and which spake unto me, and that sware unto me, saying, Unto thy seed will I give this land; he shall send his angel before thee, and thou shalt take a wife unto my son from thence.
8 And if the woman will not be willing to follow thee, then thou shalt be clear from this my oath: only bring not my son thither again.
9 And the servant put his hand under the thigh of Abraham his master, and sware to him concerning that matter.

Pray For The Peace of Jerusalem

Our Father
Who Art in Heaven,
Magnified and Sanctified is Your Most Holy Name!
How Blessed Are You, Oh LORD,
Our God, King of The Universe,
Who Has Brought Us To This Day!
We Come into Your Presence With Singing
and into Your Courts With Praise,
For You Alone Are Worthy,
You Alone Are LORD,
You Alone Are The Host High,
You Alone Are The LORD of Hosts,
And You Alone Hold The Power of Life and Death in Your Hand.
Let all that has been Concealed
Be Revealed.
Father, We Pray For The Peace Of Jerusalem,
According To Your Will and Promise.
We Pray That You Will Forgive The Sins
of Our Own Nation,
and Lead us all to Godly Repentance.
Create in Us Clean Hearts, Oh LORD,
and Renew a Right Spirit Within Us.
This we Pray Together,
As We Await Your Messiah,
Blessed Be He,
To Set Up His Kingdom,
And Make All Things Right.
”The Greatest Of these Is Love.”

The Following is a story I wrote about SHOES. Abraham , now very elderly, is sending his old servant to find a bride for Isaac. It's very possible that the Servant was Eliezer of Damascus, the very one who Abraham had designated as his heir long before Isaac was born. Now, many years later, the servant had to strap on his walking sandals, and make a journey to a far land, to further insure that the legacy would never be his. After the story, we'll talk a little about Eliezer's Personality.
Since Medicare didn't cover square footage used for "Activities" in the Nursing Home, My Activities Room was converted into a Physical Therapy Gym and my office was moved to a closet (closets were covered as "Storage Space"). Into the closet went my desk, my filing cabinet, my art supplies, the sewing machine, my portable keyboard, and my guitar. All the concerts and programs would take place in the Dining Room (which WAS covered by Medicare), which involved moving tables and chairs out of the way. If Housekeeping had not yet cleaned away the lunch detritus, it meany bussing and cleaning tables as well. Then the residents had to be brought to the room, which involved pushing wheelchairs and ambulating frail elderly with a "Gait Belt" (a device to steady people on their feet and keep them upright.) If the scheduled performer didn't show up, I would run to my office and get the guitar and do the show myself. Then, of course, all the residents needed to be returned to their rooms, and the the chairs and tables replaced in their proper order in time for dinner.
I begged the Administrator (a real Jerk) to let me hire an Assistant, but only succeeded in squeezing a part-time position out of him. Not only that, he would make the final decision after all the interviews. Well, I suppose it was better than nothing.
And so, the interview process began, and, in that affluent community, nobody wanted a two-bit job as a part-time minimum wage activities assistant in a nursing home. I only had two applicants. One was a somewhat dumpy older woman in sensible shoes who did not have a degree, but sincerely loved old people and was willing to work. The other was a younger woman, dressed for success in a deep décolletage and spike heels. She said to me that her "shrink" said she should do volunteer work to help overcome her depression."If she was going to have to work," she reasoned, "why not get paid for it?" I preferred the first applicant, but guess who the Administrator picked.
And so, added to my duties of Table-Bussing, Furniture -Moving, Wheelchair-Pushing, Gait-Training, Guitar-Playing, and Housekeeping, came the additional duty of providing free psychotherapy to my "Assistant" who stood around in her décolletage and spike heels whining about how DEPRESSING the Nursing Home was!
Although spike heels may make a woman look tall and graceful, they are not practical for certain jobs. The same can be said about flip-flps, sneakers, and open-toed shoes. Some jobs require steel-toed Work Shoes (Or for Electricians, hard-plastic toes made of non-conducting material). On the Motorcycle, I need at least a sturdy leather "Upper" because of the way gears are shifted. The right shoe for the job is essential.
In Israel, I bought a pair of sandals that were designed to mimic the shoes of a Roman Soldier. They were heavy leather, with a thick sole that supported the foot, and many straps which secured the sandal and supported the ankles. I walked all over Israel in those shoes, climbing hills, hiking archaeological digs, and walking for hours in the stony streets of Jerusalem, and they never let me down. Even after my trip, they survived for nearly 12 years until they finally fell apart.
Paul may have had those shoes in mind when he wrote this letter to the Ephesians. In our Battle against the enemy of our souls, we must have a firm footing. Our feet can't slip out from under us when we are battling Doubt, Depression, Discouragement, Envy, Anger, and Fear. Our feet need to be firmly planted, anchored in The Gospel. A myth, a theory, or a tradition will not hold up under the onslaught.
And so, whether you are riding a Harley, Hiking the Ruins of Megiddo, Pushing a Wheelchair, or Fighting the Devil, make sure your feet are firmly planted and shod with The Gospel of Peace!
The Servant, (let's call him Eliezer), had a remarkable Personality and is one of the unsung heroes of the Bible. His Loyalty to Abraham is unmatched. Although he is in the position of a servant, he treats Abraham like a Beloved Father. He doesn't seem to be disappointed by either his servant status, or his rejection in favor of the Heir. He goes on the journey willingly, bringing all the equipment, gifts, animals, and Abraham's Message to an unknown land, with no assurance of success.
Eliezer, in spite of all these factors, has a piece of equipment that is worth more than his entire entourage. He has Faith in the One True God of Abraham. He even shows a Familiarity in his prayer that is reminiscent of his master's prayer life.
Eliezer is like the older job applicant in the sensible shoes that I WANTED to hire.
Tomorrow we'll start looking at Rebecca, and her VERY complex Personality.
Have a great day, and now it's time for me to put on my SNOW BOOTS and clean off my car.
Come and Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem, For Our FRiends in Need, For Persecuted Believers, and For Our Beloved Nation.
”Let us acknowledge the LORD; let us press on to acknowledge him. As surely as the sun rises, he will appear; he will come to us like the winter rains, like the spring rains that water the earth.” (Hosea 6:3 NIV)

Aren’t we fortunate that we don’t have to swear an oath by placing our hand under ANYONE’S thigh!!!! Great story - Bible and yours...I don’t know if it’s a good thing or not that we still recall some “doozies” we had to work with over the years!

Ha Ha! You're right! But...imagine how much you would have to TRUST someone to let them do that.

I am intrigued by Eliezer of Damascus and looked him up:
...Abraham’s trusted servant, Eliezer of Damascus, who would have inherited Abraham’s fortune if Ishmael and Isaac had not been born: “But Abram said, ‘Sovereign LORD, what can you give me since I remain childless and the one who will inherit my estate is Eliezer of Damascus?’” (Genesis 15:2). A common custom in those days was for couples with no children to adopt a servant as an heir to take the place of a firstborn son.
Eliezer of Damascus was likely the same “senior servant” in charge of all Abraham’s possessions who, many years later, was commissioned by Abraham to go and find a wife for his son, Isaac, from among Abraham’s own relatives in his native land (Genesis 24:1–9). Eliezer traveled some 450 miles, where he found Rebekah in the town of Nahor in Mesopotamia. By offering water to Abraham’s servant, Rebekah revealed that she was God’s chosen wife for Isaac. Eliezer gained permission and blessing from Rebekah’s brother Laban to present her to Isaac (verses 10–59). Then Rebekah returned with Eliezer and married Isaac (verses 60–67).

Excellent story, I worked with a social worker named Harriet who had an office made out of a small bathroom. She bailed me out of a lot of difficult situations on my nursing job. Did you hike up the trail to Masada?

I took the Roman Ramp up Masada, which was more direct than the “Snake Path”.
But, of course, since it was “more direct” it was also STEEPER! LOL.
