🇺🇸Pray For The Peace of Jerusalem 🇮🇱(1/31/26)[Prayer]

A New Study For A New Year: Personalities
Genesis 19:30-
30 And Lot went up out of Zoar, and dwelt in the mountain, and his two daughters with him; for he feared to dwell in Zoar: and he dwelt in a cave, he and his two daughters.
31 And the firstborn said unto the younger, Our father is old, and there is not a man in the earth to come in unto us after the manner of all the earth:
32 Come, let us make our father drink wine, and we will lie with him, that we may preserve seed of our father.
33 And they made their father drink wine that night: and the firstborn went in, and lay with her father; and he perceived not when she lay down, nor when she arose.
34 And it came to pass on the morrow, that the firstborn said unto the younger, Behold, I lay yesternight with my father: let us make him drink wine this night also; and go thou in, and lie with him, that we may preserve seed of our father.
35 And they made their father drink wine that night also: and the younger arose, and lay with him; and he perceived not when she lay down, nor when she arose.
36 Thus were both the daughters of Lot with child by their father.
37 And the first born bare a son, and called his name Moab: the same is the father of the Moabites unto this day.
38 And the younger, she also bare a son, and called his name Benammi: the same is the father of the children of Ammon unto this day.

Pray For The Peace of Jerusalem

Our Father In Heaven,
Magnified and Sanctified
is Your Most Holy and Wonderful Name!
How Magnificent You Are,
How Glorious,
Righteous and Just!
For It is You Who Created Everything,
From the Vast Unimaginable Singularities in Space,
To the Minute Inner Workings
of My Own Synapses When I Dream!
You are Eternal,
And Forever Good.
There is No Shadow of turning With You.
Your Precepts and Promises Are Everlasting.
Let all that has been Concealed
Be Revealed.
Father, We Pray For The Peace Of Jerusalem,
According To Your Will and Promise.
We Pray That You Will Forgive The Sins
of Our Own Nation,
and Lead us all to Godly Repentance.
Create in Us Clean Hearts, Oh LORD,
and Renew a Right Spirit Within Us.
This we Pray Together,
As We Await Your Messiah,
Blessed Be He,
To Set Up His Kingdom,
And Make All Things Right.
”The Greatest Of these Is Love.”

I'm willing to bet none of you were read this story in Sunday School! In fact, I'll bet a Lot of us wished it wasn't in the Bible at all. While it tells us something about Lot's daughters, it also shows us more facets of Lot's personality.
First, let's go back to the incident with the Angels in Sodom, before the conflagration. Lot had raised two daughters in that horrible place, and had betrothed them to two young men who also lived in the city. When Lot tried to include the "Fiances" in the Rescue, they mocked and scoffed, and, presumably, broke off the engagement. When a mob formed outside the door, these scoffers didn't do anything to protect the girls.
Meanwhile, Lot offered his daughters to the mob. Imagine being a young girl whose father would do such a thing! First, ruin their marriage plans, and then, offer them up as a sacrifice to an angry mob?
While God knew that the Angels would protect them all, neither Lot nor his daughters had that foresight. Perhaps, Lot had "Faith" that the God of Abraham would work things out, but we don't know that. The Bible doesn't say. Our only clue is that centuries later, St. Peter called Lot "righteous", and it could be that, Lot knew in his heart that, no matter how bad things got, God would work it out. (That's called "Faith", by the way)
The daughters flee with their mother and father, and then their mother looks back and turns into a pillar of salt. Then their father takes them to a little cave, and they are expected to spend the rest of their lives hiding out there.
Their next action with their timid and indecisive father was shocking even to primitive people. The Law had not yet been given to Moses, and pagan societies did whatever they wanted to, but this behavior was still outside the norm. The mere fact that they had to get their father drunk in order to participate in their desperate scheme shows that he would have not consented to this abomination. But...they managed to manipulate Lot...TWICE!
Normally, what went on in a cave in Zoar among primitive people wouldn't interest us. But the boys born of this scheme (Ammon and Moab) would both end up founding great nations in the Ancient World. One could argue that the Israelites would have been much better off without the Ammonites and the Moabites. There would be a number of conflicts and outright WARS with these nations in the years to come.
But, sandwiched between the miserable Book of Judges and the exciting Book of 1 Samuel, there is an often overlooked book that has only four chapters. It's a story about two starving widows, a famine, and a harvest. The younger of the two widows, Ruth, becomes married to a man from Bethlehem and starts a new family. She ends up being the Great-Grandmother of a shepherd boy named David, who becomes a King.
Centuries later, in a stable in Bethlehem, a Baby was born who would be the King of Kings and Lord of Lords. Ruth, that Baby's very distant ancestor, is mentioned in the Baby's genealogy in Matthew 1.
Ruth was a Moabitess, and would never have existed if Lot's daughters hadn't done their shameful thing.

Proof that no matter how big the messes we make in the flesh, God can fix our circumstances and make them work according to His plan, if we are willing to repent and follow Him.
