🇺🇸Pray For The Peace of Jerusalem 🇮🇱(1/23/26)[Prayer]

A New Study For A New Year: Personalities
Genesis 16:6-
6 But Abram said unto Sarai, Behold, thy maid is in thine hand; do to her as it pleaseth thee. And when Sarai dealt hardly with her, she fled from her face.
7 And the angel of the Lord found her by a fountain of water in the wilderness, by the fountain in the way to Shur.
8 And he said, Hagar, Sarai's maid, whence camest thou? and whither wilt thou go? And she said, I flee from the face of my mistress Sarai.
9 And the angel of the Lord said unto her, Return to thy mistress, and submit thyself under her hands.
10 And the angel of the Lord said unto her, I will multiply thy seed exceedingly, that it shall not be numbered for multitude.
11 And the angel of the Lord said unto her, Behold, thou art with child and shalt bear a son, and shalt call his name Ishmael; because the Lord hath heard thy affliction.
12 And he will be a wild man; his hand will be against every man, and every man's hand against him; and he shall dwell in the presence of all his brethren.
13 And she called the name of the Lord that spake unto her, Thou God seest me: for she said, Have I also here looked after him that seeth me?
14 Wherefore the well was called Beerlahairoi; behold, it is between Kadesh and Bered.
15 And Hagar bare Abram a son: and Abram called his son's name, which Hagar bare, Ishmael.
16 And Abram was fourscore and six years old, when Hagar bare Ishmael to Abram.

Pray For The Peace of Jerusalem

Our Father,
Who Art in Heaven,
Hallowed be Your Most Holy and Wonderful Name!
How Awesome You Are,
and How Glorious!
You Alone Are Worthy to Be Praised,
For You Alone Are My Strength And My Song,
My Rock and My Redeemer!
You Are The One True God Of Abraham,
And Know The End From The Beginning
and the Beginning From The End,
Because You Are The Beginning and The End of All Things.
Let all that has been Concealed
Be Revealed.
Father, We Pray For The Peace Of Jerusalem,
According To Your Will and Promise.
We Pray That You Will Forgive The Sins
of Our Own Nation,
and Lead us all to Godly Repentance.
Create in Us Clean Hearts, Oh LORD,
and Renew a Right Spirit Within Us.
This we Pray Together,
As We Await Your Messiah,
Blessed Be He,

"It's All Sarah's Fault!" steamed Yael, my Israeli friend. The TV News report was showing the latest devastation in the ongoing conflict in Israel.
"Sarah, Who?", someone asked.
At that, Yael launched into a detailed narration of the Bible Story we are looking at today. Many Ethnic Groups in the Middle East, as well as Islam, trace their lineage to Ishmael, Hagar's son by Abram.
Yael was not at all religious, but is an example of how many people in Israel, believers or not, believe the Torah (First Five Books of the Bible) to be the authentic history of their nation.
Sarah is considered the Matriarch of the Jewish People, while Muslims consider Hagar to be theirs. Hence, both groups consider Abraham as their Father. (Jesus had something to say about that, as did John the Baptist).
Today, though, let's talk about Sarah.
When we first meet Sarai, she and her husband are comfortable city-dwellers (think Eva Gabor in "Green Acres")
No, Ur is where I'd rather stay,
I hate the desert sun all day
I just adore the Ziggurat State,
Darling I love ya, but give me the Ishtar Gate!"
If she HAD given Abram a hard time, it would have been in the Bible, but it isn't. By all accounts, she meekly followed her husband into parts unknown. I imagine that Abram shared God's Promise with her, but it took Sarah to BELIEVE in order for her to have gone willingly. There is absolutely no hint of coercion as she accompanies Abram on his journey. This suggests an equal partnership in Marriage, because we have seen that Sarah is quite capable of coming up with her own "solutions" to problems.
Sarah had gone her entire marriage with Abram without ever having children. This was a big deal in those days, and probably broke her heart. However, it didn't seem to bother Abram as much. Unlike Henry VIII, who kept dumping wives until he got a son, Abram was even willing to leave his estate to his servant Eliezer of Damascus. Sarah was his beloved wife, even if she had been infertile.
Sarah thought that if her maid Hagar had a son, she would own him, because Sarai was the Legal Wife and Mistress of the House. But, when Hagar actually became pregnant, the atmosphere at home became unbearable. The boy yet to be born was to be Hagar's son, not Sarai's. Hagar's attitude made this very clear.
Soon, the two women were bickering, and since Sarai had authority over Hagar, it seemed that Hagar's only choice was to flee.
The two "branches" of Abram's family have been bickering ever since.
