A New Study For A New Year: Personalities

Genesis 3:8-24

8 And they heard the voice of the Lord God walking in the garden in the cool of the day: and Adam and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the Lord God amongst the trees of the garden.

9 And the Lord God called unto Adam, and said unto him, Where art thou?

10 And he said, I heard thy voice in the garden, and I was afraid, because I was naked; and I hid myself.

11 And he said, Who told thee that thou wast naked? Hast thou eaten of the tree, whereof I commanded thee that thou shouldest not eat?

12 And the man said, The woman whom thou gavest to be with me, she gave me of the tree, and I did eat.

13 And the Lord God said unto the woman, What is this that thou hast done? And the woman said, The serpent beguiled me, and I did eat. 14 And the Lord God said unto the serpent, Because thou hast done this, thou art cursed above all cattle, and above every beast of the field; upon thy belly shalt thou go, and dust shalt thou eat all the days of thy life:

15 And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel.

16 Unto the woman he said, I will greatly multiply thy sorrow and thy conception; in sorrow thou shalt bring forth children; and thy desire shall be to thy husband, and he shall rule over thee.

17 And unto Adam he said, Because thou hast hearkened unto the voice of thy wife, and hast eaten of the tree, of which I commanded thee, saying, Thou shalt not eat of it: cursed is the ground for thy sake; in sorrow shalt thou eat of it all the days of thy life;

18 Thorns also and thistles shall it bring forth to thee; and thou shalt eat the herb of the field;

19 In the sweat of thy face shalt thou eat bread, till thou return unto the ground; for out of it wast thou taken: for dust thou art, and unto dust shalt thou return.

20 And Adam called his wife's name Eve; because she was the mother of all living.

21 Unto Adam also and to his wife did the Lord God make coats of skins, and clothed them.

22 And the Lord God said, Behold, the man is become as one of us, to know good and evil: and now, lest he put forth his hand, and take also of the tree of life, and eat, and live for ever:

23 Therefore the Lord God sent him forth from the garden of Eden, to till the ground from whence he was taken.

24 So he drove out the man; and he placed at the east of the garden of Eden Cherubims, and a flaming sword which turned every way, to keep the way of the tree of life.

Dear Heavenly Father

Thank You For Standing With Me when others fail me.

Thank You For Upholding me With Your Strong Right Hand.

thank You For Supporting Me With Your Everlasting Arms.

Thank You For being the Light in the Darkness.

Thank You For Saving me from The Miry Pit.

You Alone Are My Confidence and my Strength

You Alone are the One True God Over All!

Let all that has been Concealed
Be Revealed.

Father, We Pray For The Peace Of Jerusalem,
According To Your Will and Promise.
We Pray That You Will Forgive The Sins
of Our Own Nation,
and Lead us all to Godly Repentance.
Create in Us Clean Hearts, Oh LORD,
and Renew a Right Spirit Within Us.

This we Pray Together,

We've spent a lot of time talking about the personalities of Adam, Eve, and the Serpent, but we haven't talked a lot about the Main Personality in this Story, the Creator of all of them. Since I'm not qualified under any circumstances to analyze the Personality of God, I will just say what His Word reveals:

1. He is Almighty: This is the Attribute of Omnipotence. He can do whatever He wants to do, exceptlie. (Numbers 23:19)

2. He is Holy: Holiness is the Quality of being so Awesome and Precious, that it sets God APART from everyone and everything else (Isaiah 6:3, Revelation 4:8)

3. He is Righteous: Righteousness is a term that is used in Architecture, Printing, and other Arts. It means that the the structures are sound, the angles are perfect, and the Design is Harmonious. There is an elegant beauty in Righteousness, but also an aura of Truth and Stability. A "righteously designed building" won't fall down, or be corrupted. A "righteous person" can't be bought. A righteous judge won't let a criminal off because of a bribe, a threat, or a sob-story. Righteousness is synonymous with Integrity. Righteousness also dispenses Justice in a True and Proper manner.

5. God is Love:(1 John 4:7-12) Here's where we struggle. If God is Love, why doesn't He just let everybody do whatever they want? It doesn't seem right that truly evil, unrepentant sinners get a free pass. Some humans are incredibly evil, and hurt so many others, but even the sweetest saint can have bitter thoughts that bring forth conflict. Just ruminating on lust, vengeance, envy, jealousy etc. can morph into sin. That's because we aren't righteous.

We have all these Attributes of God that seem to be in conflict with one another. And, yet, God is not "conflicted".

Because He is Omniscient, He can be all the above at the same time. This is beyond my understanding, so I'll just have to accept the Reality of God, as He revealed Himself to Moses:

"I AM WHO I AM"
