🇺🇸Pray For The Peace of Jerusalem 🇮🇱(12/31/25)[Prayer]

Countdown To The New Year

Matthew 6:9-14

9 “This, then, is how you should pray:

“‘Our Father in heaven,
hallowed be your name,

10  your kingdom come,
your will be done,
    on earth as it is in heaven.

11  Give us today our daily bread.

12  And forgive us our debts,
    as we also have forgiven our debtors.

13  And lead us not into temptation,[a]
    but deliver us from the evil one.[b]’

14 For if you forgive other people when they sin against you, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. 15 But if you do not forgive others their sins, your Father will not forgive your sins.

Pray For The Peace of Jerusalem

O LORD Save Us!

You are Our Salvation,

You Are Our Defense

You Are our Refuge and our Strength.

Hear Us When we Call, oh LORD.

Save Us and Our Beloved from the Lion's Mouth.

You Alone are Mighty To Save,

and You Are The ONLY One!

Let all that has been Concealed
Be Revealed.

Father, We Pray For The Peace Of Jerusalem,
According To Your Will and Promise.
We Pray That You Will Forgive The Sins
of Our Own Nation,
and Lead us all to Godly Repentance.
Create in Us Clean Hearts, Oh LORD,
and Renew a Right Spirit Within Us.

This we Pray Together,
As We Await Your Messiah,
Blessed Be He,
To Set Up His Kingdom,
And Make All Things Right.

”The Greatest Of these Is Love.”

If you would like to be on or off the Daily Ping List, please let me know.

I was just learning how to read, the old-fashioned way, by sounding out words. As I held the hand of my little brother with one hand, and the stroller with the other, Mom walked around the neighborhood with the two of us and our new-born baby sister.

A large four-family house that needed paint loomed on the corner, sporting a red and black sign:

"NO TRESSPASSING"

I sounded out the big word after "NO" and asked Mom what the word meant. Mom said it meant that nobody should go into that yard without permission. I found it very puzzling. Our yard had a white picket fence, but all were welcome. Dad built us a swing-set, a playhouse, and a sandbox, so our yard was very popular. Why would anyone put up a sign like that?

Those of you who follow this Thread will have noticed, I am sure, that I talk about my Dad a lot. He was a wonderful man, raised as a middle child in a huge family of Gloucester Fisherman (The Old-Fashioned kind, on wooden sailing schooners) and went to sea at the age of NINE. At seventeen, he enlisted in the US Navy, and served both in WW2 and The Korean War. He was an official Navy Photographer (as well as a Landing Craft Pilot) and was present during some of the bloodiest Battles in The South Pacific. I grew up looking at his photos of The Battle of Okinawa, Iwo Jima, and several other famous ones. And when I was nine, I took my place beside my Dad as his darkroom assistant.

As well as being a Warrior, a Sailor, an Artist, and Music-Lover, Dad was also a Man of Deep Faith.

I could not have been more than 5 or 6, when Daddy was teaching me how to say my prayers. We knelt down on the floor together, next to my little bed and Dad started teaching me The Lord's Prayer. Right away, I wanted to know what it meant. It started out "Our Father". Was I talking to my Dad? Then Dad patiently went through every word and phrase of the Lord's Prayer, and not only explained what the words MEANT, but the concepts behind them. (At the time, I thought that "Trespassing" meant going into someone's yard without permission! Dad explained that even thinking mean thoughts about another person was "Trespassing!") He also taught me that Prayer was MORE than just reciting a memorized poem.

I'm reminded of the time I strove to get to the Car Dealership first thing in the morning, as I wanted to be first in line for my Scheduled Maintenance. It was a huge dealership, and the lines for service filled up fast

A woman scooted into line right behind me, and scowled as if she were annoyed that she wasn't first. We both parked our cars in the bay and went into the waiting room.

"I wanted to get in first," she grumbled, "But I had to make my prayers."

"Make My Prayers"? I wondered. "I've never heard it described THAT way before." Although she wasn't wearing a headscarf, a large pendant she wore indicated that she was probably a Muslim. Muslims pray five times a day, in very specific ways, at very specific times, with specific words and body motions. Because the Sunrise and the opening of the Car Dealership coincided that day, she ended up being second in line for service. She was NOT happy about it. I gently tried to say that prayer should be between her and God, not on someone else's schedule. She only got more annoyed with me, and then I was called to get my car. So I prayed for her that whole day, and still managed to make all my appointments.

There are three religious activities explored in The Sermon on the Mount. The three, Giving, Praying, and Fasting, are common to nearly all of the World's Religions. The activities themselves are not the Path to Redemption, although they are edifying, uplifting, and redemptive in nature. All three activities are the natural outcome of Redemption, and the value of each activity is dependent upon the condition of the heart attitude of the person doing it.

Giving in order to receive accolades is worthless. So is praying ostentatiously, to receive public approval.

When Jesus taught this to His disciples, they were puzzled. Wasn't public prayer a show of piety?

It is at this point that Jesus teaches the disciples "HOW" to pray, not "WHAT" to pray. He doesn't instruct the disciples on body positions, times of day, prayer schedules, or any "accessories" to prayer. He doesn't even give specific words to say, as the Lord's Prayer is a little different when it is taught in thee Book of Luke. What is most likely is that Jesus was giving His followers a pattern of prayer, a template upon which we can communicate with Our Father our needs and desires.

I can't think of a better way to end 2025 than with The Lord's Prayer.

Come and Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem, For Our FRiends in Need, For Persecuted Believers, and For Our Beloved Nation.

”Let us acknowledge the LORD; let us press on to acknowledge him. As surely as the sun rises, he will appear; he will come to us like the winter rains, like the spring rains that water the earth.” (Hosea 6:3 NIV)

Blessings To All Who Visit This Garden of Prayer.

Amen!!! <>< (NOTE:We must pray this daily from here on out. Getting obvious now!)

Psalm 91

1 You who live in the shelter of the Most High,
who abide in the shadow of the Almighty,*
2 will say to the Lord, ‘My refuge and my fortress;
my God, in whom I trust.’
3 For he will deliver you from the snare of the fowler
and from the deadly pestilence;
4 he will cover you with his pinions,
and under his wings you will find refuge;
his faithfulness is a shield and buckler.
5 You will not fear the terror of the night,
or the arrow that flies by day,
6 or the pestilence that stalks in darkness,
or the destruction that wastes at noonday.

7 A thousand may fall at your side,
ten thousand at your right hand,
but it will not come near you.
8 You will only look with your eyes
and see the punishment of the wicked.

9 Because you have made the Lord your refuge,*
the Most High your dwelling-place,
10 no evil shall befall you,
no scourge come near your tent.

11 For he will command his angels concerning you
to guard you in all your ways.
12 On their hands they will bear you up,
so that you will not dash your foot against a stone.
13 You will tread on the lion and the adder,
the young lion and the serpent you will trample under foot.

14 Those who love me, I will deliver;
I will protect those who know my name.
15 When they call to me, I will answer them;
I will be with them in trouble,
I will rescue them and honour them.
