A New York pastor surprised churchgoers with the extraordinary revelation that he is transitioning into a woman and will now use she/her pronouns.
Reverend Phil Phaneuf, 51, who was born male, shared that she has been undergoing a gender transition with her congregation at North Chili United Methodist Church (UMC) during Sunday service.
'I get to announce with joy that I am transitioning. I am affirming and saying to all of you that I am transgender,' the veteran pastor, wearing a rainbow stole, declared this past Sunday.
'The best way to put this is that I'm not becoming a woman, I'm giving up pretending to be a man.'
Phaneuf, who told listeners that her new name will be Phillippa Faye Phaneuf, said she will continue to go by 'Reverend Phil.'
'I'm not going to be the pronoun police,' she told the crowd. 'I don't think that anybody will misgender or mis-pronoun out of malice.'
The religious leader assured church members that the only changes stemming from her transition will be physical ones, noting that she has been undergoing hormone replacement therapy for about three months already.
Still, she said that her commitment to Jesus Christ and the ministry will remain the same.
The announcement came as a surprise to the North Chili church, where she has preached since 2019, and beyond - with her bombshell sermon recirculating across the internet.
But Phaneuf said the UMC is 'absolutely' on board with her decision to come out - but could not say the same about her family.
'Are my parents okay with this? Absolutely not,' Phaneuf bluntly admitted.

Lust is a difficult desire to resist. Phil Phaneuf needs the power of he Holy Spirit to resist its temptation.

I say that Phil Phaneuf is not going by the operator’s manual.

Many of these poeple still haven’t learned that ordinary attitudes from normal people are now criminalized, and they still comment under their own names.

We really need to get men and women genuine mental help, not cheer on mental illness and require group articipation. Mental illness needs sound treatment, not affirmation.
I would have to reply, as I got up and headed for the exit, that my pronouns are “goodbye” and “gone”.

And he's still a guy, just a mutilated one (if he does the surgery) XY cannot be changed.
If he doesn't, he's just a fraud.
The mental health community in this country is more messed up than the patients its supposed to be treating.
Where does one go for good mental health treatment? The medical community that has encouraged and enabled this whole mess in the first place?
Not that I disagree with the fact that they need help.
