Again we have an incredible Musical Word Picture by Handel, based upon ONE line of Scripture. Opening with a brief solo describing the scene, a mob breaks out singing in a fugue that sounds like a riot.

Most of the Scriptures chosen for ACT TWO of "The Messiah" were taken from The Hebrew Scriptures, even though they depict a "New Testament" Event.

Psalm 22, written by King David, has a chilling foreshadowing of the cruel Roman method of execution centuries before the Roman Empire existed. Even more poignant is the expression of the agony of the persecution from unbelievers who mock and scoff at our faith in the midst of suffering.

How many of us have had the epithet "WHERE IS YOUR GOD?" thrown in our faces, especially when we are in the midst of pain?
