Pray For The Peace of Jerusalem

Ancient of Days,
Immortal, Invisible, and Eternal!
You Alone Are The One True God,
From Everlasting to Everlasting.
You Are Our Creator,
Our Father,
Our King and Our God.
You Are The GREAT I AM
Omnipotent, Omniscient, and Omnipresent.
You Are before All Things,
And In You, All Things Are held Together.
You Mapped Out the Universe With Your Compass,
You Are The Beginning and The End,
The Alpha and the Omega,
The Aleph-Tav.

Let all that has been Concealed
Be Revealed.

Father, We Pray For The Peace Of Jerusalem,
According To Your Will and Promise.
We Pray That You Will Forgive The Sins
of Our Own Nation,
and Lead us all to Godly Repentance.
Create in Us Clean Hearts, Oh LORD,
and Renew a Right Spirit Within Us.

This we Pray Together,
As We Await Your Messiah,
Blessed Be He,
To Set Up His Kingdom,
And Make All Things Right.

”The Greatest Of these Is Love.”

If you would like to be on or off the Daily Ping List, please let me know.

In one of my favorite Bible Stories in the Book of Acts, Paul has journeyed all the way to Athens, Greece, a city considered to be the birthplace of Western Thought, Democracy, and Philosophy. In the midst of the elite Philosophers of his time, Paul must have appeared rather scruffy...a Jew from the "barbarous" East, passionately preaching some foreign "god". The Philosophers themselves coexisted with diverging opinions. Epicureans wanted to taste the most out of life, Stoics felt that all physical needs were beneath them, and there were a number of other belief systems that were mixtures of these, much like today's "New Agers" who combine Hinduism, Buddhism, Native American Religions, Witchcraft, and "Science" to come up with their belief system, which, while "oh so sophisticated", believes in everything, and therefore nothing at all! Still, the Philosophers on Mars Hill were always ready to hear something new, so they gave Paul their attention...for a while.

Paul was not shy about his beliefs, but he was wise to notice that the Greeks had an altar in town addressed to "THE UNKNOWN GOD". He used this altar as a springboard for discussion to explain to the Philosophers that the One True God was this very Entity that they knew, somehow, deep in their hearts, EXISTS.

A few were really impressed, and listened carefully...until Paul spoke of the Resurrection of the Dead...and then many, filled with their own philosophy, turned away.

To the People of Jerusalem, John the Baptist must have looked like a lunatic. Living in the desert, dressed in camel's hair, and eating locusts must have been a shocker. His preaching, however, was sound and direct from the Scriptures, which we now call "The Old Testament".

As he lifted his eyes, John saw his Cousin, who was a few months younger, standing on the riverbank.

John shows remarkable discernment, as he sees Jesus as the "Lamb of God". This is a hard thing to say, because, being the Lamb meant that He was going to die a Sacrificial Death.

Jesus's slightly older cousin John knew who Jesus was while he was still in his mother's womb. (Luke 1:39-45). This not only is an affirmation of the Messiahship of Jesus, but also of the Life and Personality of the Pre-Born Baby.

Artists (such as Raphael and Michelangelo) have speculated that the Cousins played together as children, but it's a long way from Nazareth to Jerusalem. It is possible that they visited on the yearly mandatory pilgrimage to Jerusalem, but that is just speculation. The Bible is remarkably silent about the boyhood of Jesus (except for that incident in the Temple depicted in Luke 2:41-52) so we can only assume that Jesus and John knew each other, but not much else.

Now, suddenly, they meet again, and they are both in their thirties. John has been ministering a Message of Repentance, which includes a ritual immersion in water. In Hebrew, this is called a Mikvah, and was very common. Archaeologists are always digging up these ritual baths, at Qumran, Masada, and Jerusalem.

John's Message is one of Fire and Brimstone, urging repentance from sin to avoid the Coming Wrath. But, in the Jewish Religion of the Time, repentance wasn't enough, nor was a ritual bath sufficient to atone for sin. There had to be a Sacrifice, which was usually a Lamb. That Lamb had to be without blemish and innocent.

Jesus shows up and John recognizes Him immediately. However, John doesn't greet Jesus as his long-lost cousin from Nazareth. He calls Jesus The "Lamb of God".

We Now Begin ACT TWO of Handel's Messiah. If Act One is known as the "Christmas Section", then Act Two is the "Good Friday/Easter" Section.

It opens with a solemn chorus quoting John The Baptist, who pointed out Jesus of Nazareth in a crowd and said,"Behold the Lamb of God."

In Ancient Israel, a lamb had immediate significance, as it was the Passover Sacrifice that identified the Jews, and saved them from the Angel of Death. In the Tabernacle, and later in the Temple, a lamb was the Sacrifice for The Holy Days, and was also included in the daily sacrificial system.

A lamb also symbolized the next generation of a family's wealth, as the Israelites had always been shepherds. John's statement must have truly puzzled his adherents. How can a Man be a Lamb?

Come and Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem, For Our FRiends in Need, For Persecuted Believers, and For Our Beloved Nation.

”Let us acknowledge the LORD; let us press on to acknowledge him. As surely as the sun rises, he will appear; he will come to us like the winter rains, like the spring rains that water the earth.” (Hosea 6:3 NIV)

Amen !!! <>< (NOTE:We must pray this daily from here on out)

Psalm 91

1 You who live in the shelter of the Most High,
who abide in the shadow of the Almighty,*
2 will say to the Lord, ‘My refuge and my fortress;
my God, in whom I trust.’
3 For he will deliver you from the snare of the fowler
and from the deadly pestilence;
4 he will cover you with his pinions,
and under his wings you will find refuge;
his faithfulness is a shield and buckler.
5 You will not fear the terror of the night,
or the arrow that flies by day,
6 or the pestilence that stalks in darkness,
or the destruction that wastes at noonday.

7 A thousand may fall at your side,
ten thousand at your right hand,
but it will not come near you.
8 You will only look with your eyes
and see the punishment of the wicked.

9 Because you have made the Lord your refuge,*
the Most High your dwelling-place,
10 no evil shall befall you,
no scourge come near your tent.

11 For he will command his angels concerning you
to guard you in all your ways.
12 On their hands they will bear you up,
so that you will not dash your foot against a stone.
13 You will tread on the lion and the adder,
the young lion and the serpent you will trample under foot.

14 Those who love me, I will deliver;
I will protect those who know my name.
15 When they call to me, I will answer them;
I will be with them in trouble,
I will rescue them and honour them.
16 With long life I will satisfy them,
and show them my salvation.

Amen to your prayer and story of the lamb. And even those who followed him were even offended when he said, “Eat my flesh and drink my blood”. But that is what happened, Jesus is always challenging us to go deeper in our relationship with him.
