An interview published last week by Catholic Connect, an official platform run by the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of India (CBCI), with Dr. N. Jency, a male who identifies as a “transgender female,” celebrating the fact that he has been hired as the first “transgender” professor in the Tamil Nadu region of India.
In the interview transcript, published October 2, the unnamed interviewer praised Jency’s hiring as an assistant English professor at the Jesuit-run Loyola University in Chennai as a supposed “momentous stride for transgender representation in higher education” and applauded him as a “changemaker.” Jency was hired at the university after becoming the first “transgender” in the region to earn a PhD in English and was praised by Tamil Nadu’s chief minister M.K. Stalin for these “milestones.”
“In a momentous stride for transgender representation in higher education, Dr. N. Jency has etched her [his] name into history as Tamil Nadu’s first [so-called] transgender woman to earn a PhD in English and to be appointed Assistant Professor in the Department of English at Loyola College, Chennai,” the article begins.

“But behind this groundbreaking success lies a deeply human story — one of resilience, solitude, and an unwavering belief in the transformative power of education,” the story continues.
The Church has always held, in accordance with Sacred Scripture, that human beings are created as either male or female (cf. Gen. 1:27), rejecting gender ideology and transgenderism. The Catechism also states that everyone should accept his or her sex.
Indeed, several prominent Catholic clerics have spoken out against gender ideology and transgenderism, including Cardinal Raymond Burke, who, in an August commencement speech at Thomas Aquinas College, condemned it as an “attack on reason and nature.”

“(T)o say that I can change my nature: I was born a male and that I can, through the use of various chemicals and mutilation, make myself a woman – this is an attack on reason, on nature,” Cardinal Burke said.
Later in the Catholic Connect article, the interviewer lauded Jency’s work to provide free education to gender-confused students.
“Dr. Jency is not just a professor — she [he] is a changemaker. At Loyola College, she [he] collaborates with the management to ensure free education for [so-called] transgender students, securing 7 to 12 seats every year,” they wrote.
Jency further highlighted that the Jesuit clergy at Loyola University have been very supportive of him and all “transgender” students.
“Any [so-called] transgender person who wishes to study is welcome,” he said. “I approach the Jesuit fathers, and they support them — providing education without any cost.”
Jency is also an activist with the “Transgender Rights Association” in Kolathur, according to Catholic Connect.
“You accept men and women as natural – kindly recognize [so-called] trans men and trans women as just as natural,” he said.
The Catholic Bishops’ Conference of India did not respond to LifeSiteNews’ request for comment by publication time.
