🇺🇸Pray For The Peace of Jerusalem 🇮🇱(10/6/25)[Prayer]

Water, Rivers, and Streams in the Bible
Habakkuk 3:8-10
8 Were you angry with the rivers, Lord?
Was your wrath against the streams?
Did you rage against the sea
when you rode your horses
and your chariots to victory?
9 You uncovered your bow,
you called for many arrows.
You split the earth with rivers;
10 the mountains saw you and writhed.
Torrents of water swept by;
the deep roared
and lifted its waves on high.

Pray For The Peace of Jerusalem

Our Lord and our God
We Love Your Because You First Loved Us!
Your Love is Overwhelming,
It Transcends Everything Our Hearts Can Imagine.
And we pray that Your Love Reflects through us
And Reaches Out
Tearing Down The Strongholds of the enemy.
Let us Love You
With our Whole Hearts,
Our Whole Souls,
Our Whole Minds,
And Our Whole Strength!
Let all that has been Concealed
Be Revealed.
Father, We Pray For The Peace Of Jerusalem,
According To Your Will and Promise.
We Pray That You Will Forgive The Sins
of Our Own Nation,
and Lead us all to Godly Repentance.
Create in Us Clean Hearts, Oh LORD,
and Renew a Right Spirit Within Us.
This we Pray Together,
As We Await Your Messiah,
Blessed Be He,
To Set Up His Kingdom,
And Make All Things Right.
”The Greatest Of these Is Love.”

As I said in an earlier post, the Book of Habakkuk is quite short, and can be read in one sitting. It's over 2500 years old, and yet is very relevant to today. Habakkuk frames his Book as a dialogue between himself and God. He asks the very same questions we ask in our modern times. In this quote from an article I wrote many years ago, I tell a family story that happened over a half-century ago. Since my Mom told this many times, it is accurate as far as SHE remembers it. (I also remember when it happened, but I was just a teenager at the time.)
This happened in the late 1960s.
Today's Story happened long ago, and everybody in it is now deceased. Even the Division of Law Enforcement that was involved no longer exists.
Mom was surprised on her birthday when Dad gave her a car! It was a painstakingly restored 1968 Mustang, Cherry Red, with a white roof, all registered, tagged, and insured and ready to drive. Mom loved that car! It was especially precious to her because her two sons had done the restoration, and whenever she drove it, cute-looking guys would smile, beep, give her the "thumbs up" and made her feel like a queen instead of a housewife with six kids.
One bright sunny day, Mom was driving this beautiful car on a winding parkway with my baby sister in the front seat when a car came careening straight towards her in her lane. Due to Mom's quick reflexes and the Rack-and-Pinion steering, she managed to avoid a head-on collision and went into a tree instead. The other car stopped, and a very drunk man staggered out of the car and said, "Shorry, Lady...I didn't Shee you." The special unit of Park Police showed up, arrested the man for drunk driving, and got a tow for Mom. (thank God both Mom and Little Sis were wearing seat belts!)
Months later, the arresting officer called Mom and advised her that the Drunk Driver was being sued for property damage, and the courts had not even called her as a witness. He thought she should be there and was just letting her know.
Being a big fan of Perry Mason and other Courtroom dramas, Mom dressed to the nines, put on tasteful make-up, and drove her (again restored) Mustang into town to "Sock-it-to" that evil drunk driver who have endangered her life and the life of her child. The Defense (?!?) called her as a witness.
The following is the best I can remember of the testimony:
Lawyer: "So, give us YOUR version of the story."
Mom: "Well, I was driving my car down the Parkway..."
Lawyer: "Hold it right there! WHOSE car were you driving?"
Mom: "My Car..."
Lawyer: "YOUR car?"
Mom: "Well, yes. My car..."
Lawyer: "Are you sure about that? Do you want that to be your testimony?"
Mom:"Why yes. It's my car. My husband gave it to me for my birthday."
Lawyer: "Your husband?"
Mom:"Yes. (then she gave my Dad's name)"
Lawyer: "Is that the same name that appears upon the car's registration and on the Bill of Sale?"
Mom: "Yes. That's the same person"
Lawyer: "Are you now admitting to the court that you LIED when you called the vehicle "My Car" since it is not "Your Car" but your HUSBAND'S car and are you not lying when you said that the car in question is NOT your car, and that you are, in fact, a perpetual liar, and are trying to deceive this court?"
At that point, Mom was dissolved in tears and humiliation, the judge dismissed the charges and Mom's faith in the "system" was forever tarnished. She was so traumatized by the incident that she couldn't serve on a jury or have anything to do with the legal system after that.
The Injustice that happened that day was so outrageous that it made my whole family cynical and distrustful of the Legal System. It would have been a good time to cry out to the LORD:
"Dear God, WHY do the Righteous suffer? Why to bad things happen to decent People? Why, even if you follow the rules, you STILL get hurt?"
And then, its companion:
"Why Do Evil People get Away With this Stuff?"
These were the questions Habakkuk asked, and God answered. To everything there is a Season and a Purpose, and Goodness wins in the end.
Habakkuk's Song of praise (the whole of Chapter Three), lets us know that "He Gets It."
Come and Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem, For Our FRiends in Need, For Persecuted Believers, and For Our Beloved Nation.
”Let us acknowledge the LORD; let us press on to acknowledge him. As surely as the sun rises, he will appear; he will come to us like the winter rains, like the spring rains that water the earth.” (Hosea 6:3 NIV)

Psalm 29
A Psalm of David.
1 Ascribe to the Lord, O heavenly beings,*
ascribe to the Lord glory and strength.
2 Ascribe to the Lord the glory of his name;
worship the Lord in holy splendour.
3 The voice of the Lord is over the waters;
the God of glory thunders,
the Lord, over mighty waters.
4 The voice of the Lord is powerful;
the voice of the Lord is full of majesty.
5 The voice of the Lord breaks the cedars;
the Lord breaks the cedars of Lebanon.
6 He makes Lebanon skip like a calf,
and Sirion like a young wild ox.
7 The voice of the Lord flashes forth flames of fire.
8 The voice of the Lord shakes the wilderness;
the Lord shakes the wilderness of Kadesh.
9 The voice of the Lord causes the oaks to whirl,*
and strips the forest bare;
and in his temple all say, ‘Glory!’
10 The Lord sits enthroned over the flood;
the Lord sits enthroned as king for ever.
11 May the Lord give strength to his people!
May the Lord bless his people with peace!

Joining in prayer for the Peace of Jerusalem and for our beloved America.
BTW: An English teacher would correct this lawyer—it was her car, as she was in possession of it. Like when you sit at a chair in a restaurant—it’s your seat while you have the meal, though owned the business.

That same stupid judge, a few years later, destroyed the entire Boston School System with forced bussing.
Corruption is an honored tradition in Boston! :-(

Amen. Interesting that even though this was many moons ago and your mom is enjoying Life with Jesus, this still angers me and makes me want to give her a big hug! I prefer to think it is just righteous indignation.

Oh believe me...it angered me too, just typing the words.
That’s why habakkuk is such a good book to read when we see this kind of crazy, inexplicable, injustice.
