🇺🇸Pray For The Peace of Jerusalem 🇮🇱(10/2/25)[Prayer]

Water, Rivers, and Streams in the Bible
Judges 12:1-7
Jephthah and Ephraim
12 The Ephraimite forces were called out, and they crossed over to Zaphon. They said to Jephthah, “Why did you go to fight the Ammonites without calling us to go with you? We’re going to burn down your house over your head.”
2 Jephthah answered, “I and my people were engaged in a great struggle with the Ammonites, and although I called, you didn’t save me out of their hands. 3 When I saw that you wouldn’t help, I took my life in my hands and crossed over to fight the Ammonites, and the Lord gave me the victory over them. Now why have you come up today to fight me?”
4 Jephthah then called together the men of Gilead and fought against Ephraim. The Gileadites struck them down because the Ephraimites had said, “You Gileadites are renegades from Ephraim and Manasseh.” 5 The Gileadites captured the fords of the Jordan leading to Ephraim, and whenever a survivor of Ephraim said, “Let me cross over,” the men of Gilead asked him, “Are you an Ephraimite?” If he replied, “No,” 6 they said, “All right, say ‘Shibboleth.’” If he said, “Sibboleth,” because he could not pronounce the word correctly, they seized him and killed him at the fords of the Jordan. Forty-two thousand Ephraimites were killed at that time.
7 Jephthah led[a] Israel six years. Then Jephthah the Gileadite died and was buried in a town in Gilead.

Pray For The Peace of Jerusalem

Dear Heavenly Father
We Love Your Because You First Loved Us!
You Are The Holy One,
The Redeemer of Israel.
And though the world gathers against Your People,
You Are Forever Faithful.
We, who are called of You to Believe and Obey Your Word,
Lift up Our Voices and Declare,
You Are Holy,
You Are Worthy,
And You Are The One True God!
Let all that has been Concealed
Be Revealed.
Father, We Pray For The Peace Of Jerusalem,
According To Your Will and Promise.
We Pray That You Will Forgive The Sins
of Our Own Nation,
and Lead us all to Godly Repentance.
Create in Us Clean Hearts, Oh LORD,
and Renew a Right Spirit Within Us.
This we Pray Together,
As We Await Your Messiah,
Blessed Be He,
To Set Up His Kingdom,
And Make All Things Right.
”The Greatest Of these Is Love.”

The lovely South Korean Girl stood in my Living Room with a strange device in her hands. She typed something into it, pressed a button, and waited. Then she presented the device to me. On the screen it said:
SIX WEEKS. TEACH "GREATEST LOVE OF ALL". IN ENGLISH TYPE ANSWER.
I laboriously typed:
YOU SPEAK ENGLISH?
She typed back:
KOREAN ONLY. MAKING VIDEO IN SK IN SIX WEEKS.IN ENGLISH. NEED YOU TO TEACH.
So we started the lesson. First I went through all the English vowels, and demonstrated with drawings where to put the tongue, the teeth, and the lips. we did several vocal exercises that just used vowels. She did great. We barely had to use the Translation Device, as I was able to demonstrate the exercises, and she copied me exactly. Torey the Border Collie came into the Living Room and howled along with us (on pitch!) and the girl and I burst into laughter. We had made a connection, even though neither of us spoke the other's language.
THEN, we started with the Consonants.
No matter how hard I tried, I couldn't get her to pronounce "Th", "F", or "V". I don't know if these sounds exist in Korean or not, but in the context of the Whitney Houston song, the girl couldn't manage it. I tried everything. She even made close-up videos of my mouth making the sounds.
Finally, we set up my living room and made a practice video of her sing the song. her pitch was perfect, her voice and phrasing were great, and she looked gorgeous. But the first line came out:
"I beleep da Children are our Buture. Teach dum well and let Den lead da way."
She was getting on the plane to S. Korea the NEXT MORNING! I was in despair.
A few weeks later, I got a text. She PASSED the Audition and was on her way to being a "K-Pop STAR!!!!"
Evidently that's the way everybody in S. Korea pronounces the words in that song.
Dad had a story from his time in the pacific Theater of WW2 that involved something similar to the Bible Story. Dad's Ship was involved in ferrying Chinese Nationalists Troops into China to fight the Communists. This was going on at the same time they were fighting the Japanese. They had to come up with a Password that the Chinese Soldiers could pronounce, but the average Japanese Soldier couldn't. The word they used was "LALAPALOOZA". (I thought the Chinese would struggle with that one too!) Some of Dad's War Stories were very personal, and some were very generalized. We'll never know now.
Different cultures have different letters that other people can't pronounce. In Russian, there is one letter that stands for FOUR (count 'em) consonants in a row. (ShChi). Italian follows nearly every consonant with a vowel, and so is very mellifluous.
This is an ancient phenomenon, and, in this Bible Story, we see it in operation. The Ephaimites evidently had a hard time with the "Sh" sound in their local dialect. The word "SHibboleth" was used as a password to catch any infiltrators who were attempting to cross the river.
If you think this is a far-fetched story, just imagine trying to get into your OWN computer if you get the Password wrong.

Psalm 36
To the leader. Of David, the servant of the Lord.
1 Transgression speaks to the wicked
deep in their hearts;
there is no fear of God
before their eyes.
2 For they flatter themselves in their own eyes
that their iniquity cannot be found out and hated.
3 The words of their mouths are mischief and deceit;
they have ceased to act wisely and do good.
4 They plot mischief while on their beds;
they are set on a way that is not good;
they do not reject evil.
5 Your steadfast love, O Lord, extends to the heavens,
your faithfulness to the clouds.
6 Your righteousness is like the mighty mountains,
your judgements are like the great deep;
you save humans and animals alike, O Lord.
7 How precious is your steadfast love, O God!
All people may take refuge in the shadow of your wings.
8 They feast on the abundance of your house,
and you give them drink from the river of your delights.
9 For with you is the fountain of life;
in your light we see light.
10 O continue your steadfast love to those who know you,
and your salvation to the upright of heart!
11 Do not let the foot of the arrogant tread on me,
or the hand of the wicked drive me away.
12 There the evildoers lie prostrate;
they are thrust down, unable to rise.
