Today's Passage is a Lament Over Tyre. Even though it was a City of the Philistines, and enemy of the Israelites, Ezekiel voices a song of lamentation over the destruction of the great seaport.

A Song of Lamentation over the Destruction of City is an Ancient Tradition. The Book of Lamentations, by Jeremiah, is Five Chapters of lamentation over the Destruction of Jerusalem. The Whole World laments the Destruction of Babylon in the Book of Revelation.

Leo Tolstoy, in his epic War and Peace, takes up a lamentation over Moscow, disguised as an essay about Beekeeping.

If you never read "War and Peace", that's OK. It is, after all, over 1200 pages long. However, at least read Chapter 20, about the Siege of Moscow, comparing it to a Beehive from which the Queen has departed. It's Really GOOD. (Actually the whole book is great, but who has the time?)

Even if a City is Evil, it doesn't mean that we should watch its destruction with glee. A city doesn't exist without People, and God loves each and every one of them.

AMEN! Instead, we need to pray for the spiritual deliverance of the people. One could say the entire nation of America should be destroyed for its evil, or at least certain cities, but thankfully God is patient and merciful.
