"SAVE THE WHALES" was a big thing back in the 1970s. At the time, it was my favorite "cause". I still have the beautiful bronze bookends, shaped like frolicking blue whales, that I gave Mom for Christmas one year. I had purchased those bookends from Greenpeace, of which I was a member. When Greenpeace turned too far to the left, I quit. I wasn't alone. Their President and Founding Member also left, for the same reason.

Often, different causes, that are supposedly on the same side, conflict with one another. It's impossible for proponents of "Renewable Energy", for example, to reconcile the tragic fact that Wind Turbines in the ocean disrupt the Whales' Echolocation Instinct, causing them both physical and mental harm. Strandings and Beachings seem to be evidence of this problem.

Growing up during the Cold War was an experience that few people can understand this day. Today, people lose sleep over "climate change" (originally called "Global Warming") or are concerned about which bathroom to use. In my childhood, we practiced "Duck and Cover", learned where the Public Fallout Shelters were, and were instructed that if "You Look at the FLASH, your eyeballs will melt down your face and you'll glow in the dark." I'm not kidding. The Cuban Missile Crisis, which occurred a week after my tenth birthday, was the frosting on my Nuclear Birthday Cake. (I don't remember if it was Yellow Cake, but that was my favorite!)

I was a thoughtful kid, and very religious. I was appalled by the Communist repression of religion, whatever that religion was. My argument was this:

"Jews and Christians are the most patriotic and law-abiding people on the planet! They are most likely to be the most compliant and productive citizens in your new order. So why repress them? If you are so sure that YOU have the TRUTH, why do you have to destroy others? Won't the TRUTH win in the end?"

Anyway, that was the way my ten-year-old mind worked.

At the time, I watched a lot of movies about religious people being persecuted in Red China. Movies like "The Inn of the Sixth Happiness" and others showed women and children trekking over mountains and rivers to escape the Red Army. We knew that the beautiful Orthodox Churches in Russia had been burned to the ground or turned into "museums". Even today, Chinese Christians are being tormented by their government to join up with the state-approved "religion", OR ELSE.

What these repressive regimes don't get is a principle stated in the Letter to The Philippians. The same mistake has been made by Claudius, Nero, Hitler, Stalin, and Mao. Religious Repression only makes the fire of Faith burn brighter.

The World is full of paradoxes like these. God created a Magnificent World, with an incredible array of creatures. Scientists are forever finding new species, and naming them after themselves. Theories come and go, and then are buried to save on embarrassment (Oceana has ALWAYS been at war with Eurasia!). Gaslighting abounds.

And, Leviathan is still frolicing in the Sea.

I remember in grade school we went through civil defense training. We had to write our civil defense number on our homework. Mine was 1-37. We were told in case of attack, head for the coal mines. I lived in Montana and a third of the nuclear missiles were in that state, pointed to Russian at that time.
