[Catholic Caucus] Pro-LGBT Cardinal Hollerich suggests Church should not define sexual morality so ‘narrowly’

[Catholic Caucus] Pro-LGBT Cardinal Hollerich suggests Church should not define sexual morality so ‘narrowly’

The Luxembourg cardinal advocated for expanding the Catholic Church's view of sexual morality despite the Catechism defining homosexual acts as 'intrinsically disordered.'

A cardinal from Luxembourg suggested that he would change the Catholic Church’s doctrine on sexuality.

In a September 6 interview with Austrian outlet Die Furche, Luxembourg Cardinal Jean-Claude Hollerich, S.J. advocated for the Catholic Church to expand their view of sexual morality while also promoting synodality.

Hollerich revealed that he “would not define morality — especially sexual morality — as narrowly as the Church does today.”

Hollerich alleged that the Catholic Church should work to adapt their eternal doctrine to fit the current pro-LGBT narrative.

“Some look to the past with nostalgia, others with fear,” he said. “Both are wrong. We are part of a history — this we must accept and learn from. But we must also move forward.”

However, the Catechism of the Catholic Church, part of the Church’s unchanging doctrine, clearly defines both sexuality and sins against sexuality.

The Catechism states that God created humans “male and female” and “Everyone, man and woman, should acknowledge and accept his sexual identity.”

“Physical, moral, and spiritual difference and complementarity are oriented toward the goods of marriage and the flourishing of family life. the harmony of the couple and of society depends in part on the way in which the complementarity, needs, and mutual support between the sexes are lived out,” the Catechism continues.

The Catechism further declares that “homosexual acts are intrinsically disordered” and “under no circumstances can they be approved.”

Hollerich further promoted the highly controversial Synod on Synodality, which has sought participation and advice from non-Catholics and those who no longer practice the faith. It has been mired by a number of campaigns for the overturning of established Church teaching – such as on the female diaconate, priestly celibacy, and the practicalities of Church authority.

The cardinal pushed for the Catholic Church to use synod-approved imagery, such as referring to the Catholic Church as a “tent” under which all groups can find space.

“The image of a tent that needs to be expanded so that everyone can find space within it,” he said, noting that this shift has received resistance, especially in Africa. Africa, known as a religiously conservative continent, preferred the traditional term “family.”

Hollerich himself is known for his public support of the homosexual movement. In 2022, he described as “false” the Church’s denouncement of homosexual acts as sinful. He added that there are “homosexuals among my priests” in his Archdiocese of Luxembourg. “I have homosexual women and men among the laity,” he added, “and they know they have a home in the Church.”

Hollerich called for a “change” in Church teaching on homosexuality, which comes on top of his openness to ordaining women to the sacred priesthood and opening Holy Orders to married men.

In August 2022, Hollerich then claimed that his thoughts on homosexuality were “in full agreement with Pope Francis.” But only weeks later, he told LifeSiteNews that “I’m not in favor of changing any doctrine.” Instead, he said he was in favor of “a Church in which everybody can feel welcome.”

The Church didn’t. The Lord God Almighty did. Take it up with Him, devil.

Hey, foister! Guess what? Hollerich is a Jesuit, just like your pals, Jorge Bergoglio and Jimmy Martin.

And Bergoglio made Hollerich one of his lavender cardinals in 2019.

Aren't you sad that Jorge passed before he could make Jimmy Martin another one of his pet "cardinals"?

Only if the Church is the Bride of Christ - if so, then it should follow His teachings.

Otherwise - - - you are on your own - and good luck with that!

You mean the way it’s been defined for thousands of years and worked fine?

This pervert probably also says that kiddies can consent, or, consent is not necessary. Just like Nambla.

Agree. Certainly not as narrowly as the “narrow path” or the eye oglf the needle. Let’s confer with lucifer for a redefinition. Too much schooling, not enough faith.
