Our Father,
We Praise and Bless Your Holy Name!
Thank You For Making Bitter Waters Sweet.
Thank You for taking the Difficult Circumstances of Our Lives,
Suffering,
Rejection,
Persecutions,
And Using Those Things to Give us Strength, Courage, and Wisdom.

Let all that has been Concealed
Be Revealed.

Father, We Pray For The Peace Of Jerusalem,
According To Your Will and Promise.
We Pray That You Will Forgive The Sins
of Our Own Nation,
and Lead us all to Godly Repentance.
Create in Us Clean Hearts, Oh LORD,
and Renew a Right Spirit Within Us.

This we Pray Together,
As We Await Your Messiah,
Blessed Be He,
To Set Up His Kingdom,
And Make All Things Right.

A Happy Labor Day to you all! I hope you have a Great Day.

Today's Thundering Prophecy from the Prophet Amos uses the Nile River as a Metaphor. The very thing that made the Nile a frightening power was what gave life to Ancient Egypt. The "Inundation" was a yearly flood that could indeed wreak havoc, but if it DIDN'T come and provide a new layer of fertile soil, the country would starve. That which nurtures can also destroy.

It was the responsibility of Pharaoh to keep the Nile flooding at precise intervals to keep his country alive. It was believed that Pharaoh was the embodiment of Osiris, the God of Spring and rebirth. If the Flood didn't come, Pharaoh wasn't doing his job. A building where the Priests measured the height and volume of the Nile (called the Nilometer), still exists today for tourists to look at.

The yearly inundations are not as important these days because of the dams further up the Nile. But...if those dams ever failed, I can't even imagine the destruction it would cause.

I hope they have a good maintenance team, for the sake of the folks who live down river.

Thanks for that educational piece of Egyptian history. Pariah was a god of his time. That kind always fail, unlike our true God who never fails. And then God using a flood to utterly destroy Pharoah in the end.
