🇺🇸Pray For The Peace of Jerusalem 🇮🇱(8/19/25)[Prayer]

Water, Rivers, and Streams in the Bible
Joshua 12:23

2 Sihon king of the Amorites, who reigned in Heshbon.

He ruled from Aroer on the rim of the Arnon Gorge—from the middle of the gorge—to the Jabbok River, which is the border of the Ammonites. This included half of Gilead. 3 He also ruled over the eastern Arabah from the Sea of Galilee[a] to the Sea of the Arabah (that is, the Dead Sea), to Beth Jeshimoth, and then southward below the slopes of Pisgah.

Pray For The Peace of Jerusalem

Everlasting Father,
How Hallowed is Your Most Holy Name!
You Alone Are Worthy of Worship and Praise,
For You Alone Are The One True God,
Almighty and Eternal,
Rock of Ages,
Ancient of Days,
King of Kings,
and Lord of Lords!

Let all that has been Concealed
Be Revealed.

Father, We Pray For The Peace Of Jerusalem,
According To Your Will and Promise.
We Pray That You Will Forgive The Sins
of Our Own Nation,
and Lead us all to Godly Repentance.
Create in Us Clean Hearts, Oh LORD,
and Renew a Right Spirit Within Us.

This we Pray Together,
As We Await Your Messiah,
Blessed Be He,
To Set Up His Kingdom,
And Make All Things Right.

”The Greatest Of these Is Love.”

If you would like to be on or off the Daily Ping List, please let me know.

When people ask me from whom I inherited my musical ability, I tell them that my Dad played the Stereo BRILLIANTLY! A silly joke, yes, but my entire childhood was FILLED with music. Everything from Beethoven to Belefonte, Mozart to Moussorgsky, Carmen to the Kingston Trio, was constantly being played in our household on the very latest equipment. At one time, the living room speakers, which were as large as washing machines, dominated our home, and I played The Beatles, The Doors, Blind Faith, and the Rolling Stones on them. This suited Dad, because he preferred the most bombastic music instead of that which could be called "mellow". Thus, he would always play Mahler's or Beethoven's Symphonies rather than the string quartets, "Night on Bald Mountain" instead of a solo Russian Folk Song, Franz Liszt rather than Chopin. He liked his music "fiery".

Years later, as Dad sank into the fog of Alzheimer's Disease, he still loved music. He asked me:

"ML, do you remember this? (singing) nananana NA NA, nananana NA NA."

"Sure," I said, "That's the Bacchanal from "Samson and Delilah".

"Oh..." he said "I thought it was "The Dance of the Seven Veils".

"Close," said I. "Same composer!"

In the early days of Opera (and Hollywood too) producers could get away with a lot of sex and violence as long as it was an ancient story like the Bible. Something about those ancient people separated the audience from the scandalous and so made it seem OK. When composers tackled contemporary people such as Bizet in "Carmen", Verdi in "La Traviata", and Puccini in"La Boheme", audiences were scandalized because it showed people who could be their neighbors doing naughty things. These wonderful classics initially bombed with the critics because they mirrored contemporary sinful behavior.

It seems that it was OK to write an opera about lust, incest, adultery, murder, decapitation, and idolatry, as long as it was about people who died 2000 years ago. This somehow served to separate the audiences from their own sinfulness. Who would think that we all are capable of such savagery in our enlightened day and age? You don't think so? Turn on tonight's NEWS if you don't believe me.

Today's Reading in the Book of Joshua is from the tough and violent Book that just precedes the toughest and MOST violent Book in the Bible, the Book of Judges. In my own private reading, I'm in Judges right now, and I have to admit, it's a struggle. It tells of what happens to a Nation that forgets God. But, it all happened 3000 years ago, so why should I be affected by it?

Once again, all I have to say is "Look at the NEWS."

Come and Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem, For Our FRiends in Need, For Persecuted Believers, and For Our Beloved Nation.

”Let us acknowledge the LORD; let us press on to acknowledge him. As surely as the sun rises, he will appear; he will come to us like the winter rains, like the spring rains that water the earth.” (Hosea 6:3 NIV)

Blessings To All Who Visit This Garden of Prayer.

Psalm 5

To the leader: for the flutes. A Psalm of David.
1 Give ear to my words, O Lord;
give heed to my sighing.
2 Listen to the sound of my cry,
my King and my God,
for to you I pray.
3 O Lord, in the morning you hear my voice;
in the morning I plead my case to you, and watch.

4 For you are not a God who delights in wickedness;
evil will not sojourn with you.
5 The boastful will not stand before your eyes;
you hate all evildoers.
6 You destroy those who speak lies;
the Lord abhors the bloodthirsty and deceitful.

7 But I, through the abundance of your steadfast love,
will enter your house,
I will bow down towards your holy temple
in awe of you.
8 Lead me, O Lord, in your righteousness
because of my enemies;
make your way straight before me.

9 For there is no truth in their mouths;
their hearts are destruction;
their throats are open graves;
they flatter with their tongues.
10 Make them bear their guilt, O God;
let them fall by their own counsels;
because of their many transgressions cast them out,
for they have rebelled against you.

11 But let all who take refuge in you rejoice;
let them ever sing for joy.
Spread your protection over them,
so that those who love your name may exult in you.
12 For you bless the righteous, O Lord;
you cover them with favour as with a shield

Your house was much like mine, always classical music and operas. I used to do housework while playing Mahler’ Symphonies...and pretending to conduct the orchestra..

Joining in prayer for the Peace of Jerusalem. God bless.

I’m thankful the Bible addresses scandal and violence because they are facts of life in this world. The Word shows us the Truth of these things in our lives separated from God and how to deal with it. The best instruction manual for life. The gratuitous scandal and violence in so much entertainment is there only to lure and corrupt, to feed the flesh. That’s the difference and a very good reason to avoid it all entirely.

I hear you. As you probably know, I love to read. I mostly stick to the classics, because, often I trash a more contemporary book by the second or third chapter, as it descends into gratuitous smut.

Sadly, this seems to be more prevalent among FEMALE contemporary authors. That makes me sad, because I'm a Female, and hoped that somehow women could tell a good story without that nonsense.

Oh Well.

Yes, women’s books. They say men follow the flesh visually where women follow the flesh through contemporary women’s books. The romance novels are pure trash.

I’m about ready to swear off female authors.

Well, except Mary Shelly.

One of my favorite books is FRANKENSTEIN. LOL.
