Rome: The Virgin of Revelation at Tre Fontane: The Dogma of the Assumption, Prophecies for the Present Time, Crisis of the Church, Widespread Atheism and Islam

Just as The Dogma of the Immaculate Conception, proclaimed in 1854 by Pius IX, is connected to the Apparition of Our Lady of Lourdes in 1858, when She identified Herself to Bernadette by saying “I am the Immaculate Conception”, so another apparition is also connected to the proclamation of the Dogma of the Assumption.

Presently I am reading in Italian, Saverio Gaetta’s book “Il Veggente - Il Segreto delle Tre Fontane”. It makes for compelling reading.  It is the awe-inspiring story of a man, Bruno Cornacchiola, who, after experiencing unspeakable suffering as a child and young man, went on to become embittered with life and filled with hate, especially towards the Catholic Church and The Pope (whom he planned to kill at the first opportunity).  He reserved a special repugnance for Our Lady. He had reasons for his hatred, but it would take too long to report them here and is not the purpose of this short article.  Suffice to say that after his encounter with Our Lady at the Tre Fontane he was utterly transformed and went on to live a saintly, mystical life.

The purpose of this short article is to connect the themes in the title to the Tre Fontane Apparition and Bruno Cornacchiola.

Regarding the Dogma of the Assumption.

Saverio Gaetta writes on pages 63-64:

“The fact that Pope Pius XII had taken the Messages of the Virgin of Revelation at the Tre Fontane very seriously is documented in the itinerary that led to the Proclamation of the Assumption, celebrated on the 15th of August.

On May 1st, 1946, with the encyclical DEIPARAE VIRGINIS MARIAE, Pius XII had asked all the Bishops of the world if they considered “that the bodily Assumption of the Immaculate Blessed Virgin can be proposed and defined as a dogma of faith, and whether in addition to your own wishes this is desired by your clergy and people”.  Out of 1,181 responses, only six manifested some reservation about the proclamation.

The following year the Apparition at the Tre Fontane transpired and the Pontiff came to know - directly from Cornacchiola - the following words pronounced by Our Lady:

“My body could not die and did not die; it could not rot and did not rot because it was Immaculate. It was in the ecstasy of Divine Love that it was carried by Jesus, the Word, my Son, and by the Angels to Heaven, and thus it was taken to the throne of Divine Mercy.”

Thus thanks even to this confirmation, on November 1st 1950 the Fourth Marian Dogma was proclaimed with the Apostolic Constitution Munificentissimus Deus:

We pronounce, declare, and define it to be a divinely revealed dogma: that the Immaculate Mother of God, the ever Virgin Mary, having completed the course of her earthly life, was assumed body and soul into heavenly glory.

Rome: The Virgin of Revelation at Tre Fontane, prophecies for the present time, crisis of the Church, advanced atheism and Islam

Bruno Cornacchiola died in 2001, after an astonishing life characterized at the outset by his intention to kill the Pope and then by his sudden conversion to Catholicism, following the extraordinary experience of April 12, 1947.

Bruno Cornacchiola

That day, along with his three children, he saw a young woman of great beauty, dark-haired and of olive skin, clad in a green cloak and holding a book. From that moment on, he continued to receive spiritual messages and prophetic communications from her throughout his life.

"The seer" handed over these messages received from the Virgin to the Vatican, which never deemed it appropriate to publish them. Nevertheless, by order of the Virgin of Revelation, Bruno kept a personal copy and after years of study and analysis, the Italian journalist, Saverio Gaeta, revealed their contents in full.

The Virgin of Revelation at Tre Fontane

In Rome, there is an important Marian shrine that, even today, does not enjoy the proper attention and devotion it deserves. Not many Romans know about it. Yet, dozens of apparitions to Bruno Cornacchiola (a former anti-Catholic Marxist-atheist, later a Baptist then a 7-Day Adventist) led to his conversion after these extraordinary events took place.

Pius XII and the Virgin of Revelation

In the late 1940s, Bruno Cornacchiola was witness to several apparitions of the Virgin Mary in a grotto in Rome on the Via Laurentina, a short walk from the site of St. Paul's martyrdom, the Tre Fontane.  In these apparitions, the Virgin Mary revealed to him evil looming, the success of Satan, and the collapse of the Church.  Cornacchiola, filled with doubt, requested an audience with Pope Pius XII. Not only did the Pope confirm what he had seen, he also persuaded him to keep a diary of the apparitions and publish it. Seventy years later, Saverio Gaeta reported the seer's diaries in his book, "The Seer, the Secret of the Three Fountains."

The apparitions of Cornacchiola prophesied to Luigina Sinapi

The Pontiff was so convinced of the truth of those apparitions that in 1947 he blessed the statue depicting the Madonna as Cornacchiola had seen her. Nine years later, he afterwards legitimized devotion to the Virgin of Revelation, symbolized by that statue, entrusting the grotto and chapel to the Friars Minor.

LUIGINA SINAPI  -  mystic and a friend of Pope Pius XII and Padre Pio

But why was Pope Pacelli so convinced of those apparitions?

Possibly because of the words that young Luigina Sinapi received in an apparition (unknown to most) in the same grotto on April 12, 1937. Exactly 10 years before Bruno Cornacchiola: "I will return to this place. I will make use of a man who today persecutes the Church, who wants to kill the Pope. Now go to St. Peter's, you will find a lady dressed like this [...] She will lead you to the cardinal. You will carry my message. You will also tell the cardinal that he will soon be the new Pope."

The Prophecies of the Virgin of Revelation

All this as an introduction to some excerpts from Gaeta's book, wherein  he reports Our Lady’s revelation of terrible prophecies concerning the Church's loss of sanctity and the increasing influence of the devil.

As mentioned, it is 1947. Our Lady tells Bruno Cornacchiola: "Before Russia converts and abandons the path of atheism, a terrible and grave persecution will break out. Pray, it can be stopped.  Set yourselves apart from the false things of the world: vain entertainment and publications of obscenities. Satan has been loosed for a time and will kindle the fire of protest among men. Children, be strong, resist the infernal assault. The entire Church will suffer a tremendous trial, to cleanse the filth that has infiltrated its ministers. Priests and faithful will be placed at a perilous turning point in the world of the lost, which will launch an attack with every means through false ideologies and theologies."

Atheism, bad shepherds, and false words

This message, dating back to 1947, takes on an even greater impact in our day. Rampant atheism, sexual problems involving priests and high-ranking prelates, and the affirmation of false theories are all common in our daily lives.

In the same apparition, Our Lady confessed to Cornacchiola that the Holy Spirit is retreating from the earth and that this departure is due to a loss of faith, also caused by bad shepherds. This harsh message against priests was repeated in 1988: "You are trampling on my sheep and leading them to perdition. Why do you no longer make my doctrine known? Why do you lead my sheep to dry grass and deadly [poisonous] bushes?"

Humanity under the Bondage of Satan

To this last warning against corrupt pastors who have lost their faith, Our Lady adds a disturbing message.  A vision of pain and perdition in which the Church is reduced to a pile of rubble and humanity subjected to the evil bondage of Satan. "May what I visualized never come true; it is too painful, and I hope the Lord does not allow the Pope to deny any truth of faith and put himself in God's place. How much pain I felt that night; my legs were paralyzed, and I could no longer move, from the pain of seeing the Church reduced to a pile of ruins."

The prophecy about ISIS and the silent invasion of Islam

In one of the last visions, Cornacchiola received another terrible prophecy. It was July 21, 1998, Saverio Gaeta recounts in his book, "I dreamed that Muslims surrounded the churches and closed the doors, and from the roofs threw gasoline and set them on fire, with the faithful inside praying and everything also on fire." A tragically true premonition that should also recall the same questions Cornacchiola asked: "But why don't the leaders in the world see the invasion of Islam in Europe? What is the purpose of these invasions?  Have they forgotten Lepanto? Or the Gates of Vienna? It is not a peaceful invasion when they kill in their Islamic countries those who declare themselves Christians or convert to Christ. Not only that - but they also don’t allow you to build churches or evangelize."

evil looming, the success of Satan, and the collapse of the Church

The first is meaningless. It's impossible to determine what the second one consists of since it has no specifics. I guess the third one hasn't happened yet. Unfortunately no time frame was revealed.

It was not a very helpful revelation.

If you're speaking of "...(1) evil looming, (2) the success of Satan, and (3) the collapse of the Church...", I would say they are all pretty easy to see from a Christian perspective.

The evils of modern society encompass everything from abortion to euthanasia, including casual drug use, gang activities. You can go on to consider national conflicts.

The collapse of the Church is seen in dwindling attendance and scandals in the ministry.

For any Christian there's much to pray for.

I wonder what would happen if this were plugged into Grok’s Imagine.
“Muslims surrounded the churches and closed the doors, and from the roofs threw gasoline and set them on fire, with the faithful inside praying and everything also on fire.”

This scene happened in 523 AD in Yemen by a Yemeni King Dhu Nuwas.

The twist is that the king wasn’t Muslim (it was 200 years before the creation of Islam), but a convert to Judaism.

YEMEN TODAY is one of the least Christian countries in the world, but that was not the case in the sixth century. At that time, about one third of its inhabitants were Christians with close ties to Christian Abyssinia (Ethiopia). The Abyssinians invaded Yemen and placed a Christian king on its throne. Yemen also had a large Jewish population.

Yusuf As’ar, successor of the king placed by the Abyssinians, had sided with the Christians earlier but soon revealed himself as a convert to Judaism. Because he wore a ponytail, he was known by names which refer to his hair: Dhu Nuwas, Dzu Nuwas, Dounaas, or Masruq. Seeking to throw the Abyssinians out of the country, Dhu Nuwas attacked their garrison at Zafar and burned the church there along with other Christian churches.

Dhu Nuwas next attacked the northern Yemenese city of Najran (now in Saudi Arabia) which was strongly Christian. The Christians resisted with desperate valor, appealing for help to Byzantium and to Persian Christians. When Dhu Nuwas found he could not capture the city by direct assault, he swore full amnesty to all who would surrender. The Christians knew they could not hold out much longer. Against the advice of their leader Arethas, they accepted the terms. Dhu Nuwas massacred them all according to a Syrian bishop, Simeon of Beth Arsham, who traveled to Narjan to investigate and report the story,

The Jews amassed all the martyrs’ bones and brought them into the church where they heaped them up. They then brought in the priests, deacons, subdeacons, readers, and sons and daughters of the covenant...they filled the church from wall to wall, some 2,000 persons according to the men who came from Najran; then they piled wood all round the outside of the church and set light to it, thus burning the church with everyone inside it.
On this day, 25 November 523, Dhu Nuwas also killed Arethas and three hundred and forty of his followers. Greek and Latin churches quickly added them to martyr lists.

Dhu Nuwas was not done. For a week he raged through the area, martyring thousands of Christians, who suffered terrible tortures rather than renounce Christ. According to accounts written within a century of the events, Dhu Nuwas dug deep pits and filled them with fire. Anyone who refused to become a Jew was flung in. All gave testimonies similar to some women of Narjan, who replied: “God forbid that we should deny our Lord and our God, Jesus Christ. For He is God and the Maker of all things, and He has saved us from eternal death.”

When Roman emperor Justin I learned of the massacres, he asked Kaleb, Abyssinia’s Christian king, to intervene. Kaleb crushed Dhu Nuwas, re-establishing a Christian kingdom in Yemen. The Christians, however, were much weaker now, and did not survive the rise of Islam.
