Oh LORD,
Our God,
How Wonderful,
How Majestic,
How Excellent is Your Most Holy Name!
Our Hearts Overflow with Praise and Wonder at Your Glory!
You Alone Are Worthy of Our Love and Adoration,
You Alone Are Worthy Of Worship,
For You Alone Are The Omnipotent,
Eternal and Omniscient,
Everlasting and Almighty God!

Let all that has been Concealed
Be Revealed.

Father, We Pray For The Peace Of Jerusalem,

During the 1960s the hippest place to be in Boston was Charles Street. It was a sort of mini-Greenwich Village, with Boston Common at one end and Mass General Hospital at the other. This was the "Hippie Street" and was where I hung out as a teenager. There were several Coffee Houses on Charles Street, and I longed to have a gig there. Although popular music had moved on from Folk to Rock, Folk was still alive on Charles Street. They all thought they were so avant guarde, but they were actually behind the curve. By this time, Bob Dylan had already gone electric at the 1965 Newport Folk Festival, causing a roar of disapproval from the Folk Crowd. Although they thought they were "anti-establishment" they actually WERE "The Establishment" as far as the Music Scene was in those days.

When I finally got a gig at a Charles Street Coffee House, I showed up with an electric guitar. I was a rebel amongst rebels, even back then.

Speaking of being a rebel amongst rebels, I've been a Biker for 53 years and a Rock Musician for 55, and yet, I have no tattoos. One reason is that these were illegal in MA for a number of years, and another is that I don't like needles. But it's still remarkable that I've been in environments with enough ink to float a battleship, and never got any for myself.

In Today's Scripture we see Paul hanging out with the Philosophers on Mars Hill in Athens, Greece. This was the Coffee House of the day. The Philosophers of Athens would go there and hang out, debate, argue, and listen to the next new thing. Paul saw this as an opportunity for Evangelism, and spoke to the Philosophers in their own language. He quoted their Poets, presented logical arguments, and made comparisons to their philosophies. By "speaking their language", Paul hoped he might reach some. Everything was going fine until Paul mentioned The Resurrection of the Dead. The Philosophers were so full of their own philosophy that they couldn't accept this concept.

It was as if Paul had brought an Electric Guitar to the Coffee House.
