Psalm 106:7-12

7When our ancestors were in Egypt,
they gave no thought to your miracles;
they did not remember your many kindnesses,
and they rebelled by the sea, the Red Sea. b
8Yet he saved them for his name’s sake,
to make his mighty power known.

Our Father in Heaven

Years ago, I owned a beautiful 1920’s era Craftsman-Style two family house in Boston. It had all the original French Doors, hardwood floors and Gumwood trim. I was a very “nice” landlady, giving privacy and leeway to the tenants, and didn't complain about noise, cooking odors, etc. Unlike a lot of Boston Landlords, I allowed Children and Pets...because I LIKE Children and Pets, and they need to live SOMEWHERE!

We had a couple living there who just stopped paying their rent. I kept begging them for the rent and they kept putting me off. I finally had to initiate eviction proceedings.

When the constable finally got them to leave, they took revenge by trashing the apartment. The expense was considerable, but what really hurt was the profound sense of betrayal. I had been so NICE to them. WHY did they do this to me?

I thought I was unique in my experience, but, years later, my nephew had a similar encounter. His tenants were far worse. They poured cement into the toilet, and left the water running, flooding the apartment. ALL the plumbing had to be replaced as well as floors and fixtures. His "Tenants From Hell" made mine look positively benevolent.

Today's passage speaks of God's Miracles and Provision, and how people just simply "forget" what He has done for us. He has given us what is arguably the nicest Planet in the Solar System...perhaps even the Universe...and we have worked very hard to trash it. A lot of people don't even acknowledge God, nor do they give Him the Praise and Worship that is due to Him. He performs Miracles for us, and we soon forget them, due to everyday problems and concerns. Then, we get indignant when he calls us on it.

This Bible Passage was written 2800 years ago, but still rings true. With each new miracle, let's not forget the ones preceding it.
