🇺🇸Pray For The Peace of Jerusalem 🇮🇱(7/17/25)[Prayer]

Water, Rivers, and Streams in the Bible
Psalm 137:1-4

1By the rivers of Babylon we sat and wept
when we remembered Zion.
2There on the poplars
we hung our harps,
3for there our captors asked us for songs,
our tormentors demanded songs of joy;
they said, “Sing us one of the songs of Zion!”
4How can we sing the songs of the Lord
while in a foreign land?

Pray For The Peace of Jerusalem

Heavenly Father,
How Wonderful,
How Glorious,
How Excellent is Your Most Holy Name!
Our Hearts Overflow with Worship and Wonder at Your Glory!
Teach us To Put Our Confidence,
Not in Riches or Material Things,
But Only in You,
Everlasting and Almighty God.

Let all that has been Concealed
Be Revealed.

Father, We Pray For The Peace Of Jerusalem,
According To Your Will and Promise.
We Pray That You Will Forgive The Sins
of Our Own Nation,
and Lead us all to Godly Repentance.
Create in Us Clean Hearts, Oh LORD,
and Renew a Right Spirit Within Us.

This we Pray Together,
As We Await Your Messiah,
Blessed Be He,
To Set Up His Kingdom,
And Make All Things Right.

”The Greatest Of these Is Love.”

If you would like to be on or off the Daily Ping List, please let me know.

J.R.R. Tolkien was not just a wonderful storyteller, he was also a brilliant scholar of ancient literature. The subtitle of his delightful tale The Hobbit is "There and Back Again. This is a private joke that many would not get at first, but what Tolkien did was describe the Literary Structure of many ancient works such as the Odyssey and many of the Psalms. This is called "Chiastic Structure", based upon the Greek letter Chi, which looks like a Big "X". (Chi is the first letter in the word for "Christ", which is why some people use it for "XMAS".

We have already seen how Acrostics don't translate from the Hebrew very well, but the "Chiastic Structure" is quite evident in any translation. The structure is a variation of A, B, C, B, A, or "There and Back Again" and is thematic.

Some whole Books of the Old Testament are Chiastic in structure, and, indeed, the entire History of the Hebrews/Israelites/Jews can be called "chiastic". as it is a saga of "There and Back Again", just like Tolkien's Epic.

The entire Bible begins in Paradise, and ends up there too. Great Rivers run through it, and one of those is the Tigris.

In Today's Psalm, the Israelites (now called "Jews") are in exile in Babylon. They are, in fact, slaves, and have been taken "there" by the Babylonian conquerors who have also destroyed the Temple in Jerusalem.

But, true to the Chiastic Structure of Biblical History, they WILL be "back again" in 70 years.

As a musician, I'm particularly sensitive to the harps hung up on the willows.There have been a few times when I had to sing when I was either very ill or in deep distress. Sometimes there is no way around it. Sometimes it has a healing effect, but often it's the opposite. Both Woody Allen and Mel Brooks satirized this in an extremely irreverent manner while showing a chain gang being encouraged to sing a work song as they labored in the hot sun. It looks like Psalm 137 may have been the the unconscious inspiration for these movie scenes. (One movie was "Take The Money and Run", and the other was "Blazing Saddles", just for the record). Here were People, far from home, in a state of slavery, sitting on the banks a foreign river, and their overseers are tormenting them, ordering them to "Sing us a Jewish song!"

Grrr...it would have taken all my strength to refrain from smashing my electric bass on his head!

Come and Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem, For Our FRiends in Need, For Persecuted Believers, and For Our Beloved Nation.

”Let us acknowledge the LORD; let us press on to acknowledge him. As surely as the sun rises, he will appear; he will come to us like the winter rains, like the spring rains that water the earth.” (Hosea 6:3 NIV)

Blessings To All Who Visit This Garden of Prayer.

Psalm 71

1 In you, O Lord, I take refuge;
let me never be put to shame.
2 In your righteousness deliver me and rescue me;
incline your ear to me and save me.
3 Be to me a rock of refuge,
a strong fortress,* to save me,
for you are my rock and my fortress.

4 Rescue me, O my God, from the hand of the wicked,
from the grasp of the unjust and cruel.
5 For you, O Lord, are my hope,
my trust, O Lord, from my youth.
6 Upon you I have leaned from my birth;
it was you who took me from my mother’s womb.
My praise is continually of you.

7 I have been like a portent to many,
but you are my strong refuge.
8 My mouth is filled with your praise,
and with your glory all day long.
9 Do not cast me off in the time of old age;
do not forsake me when my strength is spent.
10 For my enemies speak concerning me,
and those who watch for my life consult together.
11 They say, ‘Pursue and seize that person
whom God has forsaken,
for there is no one to deliver.’

12 O God, do not be far from me;
O my God, make haste to help me!
13 Let my accusers be put to shame and consumed;
let those who seek to hurt me
be covered with scorn and disgrace.
14 But I will hope continually,
and will praise you yet more and more.
15 My mouth will tell of your righteous acts,
of your deeds of salvation all day long,
though their number is past my knowledge.
16 I will come praising the mighty deeds of the Lord God,
I will praise your righteousness, yours alone.

17 O God, from my youth you have taught me,
and I still proclaim your wondrous deeds.
18 So even to old age and grey hairs,
O God, do not forsake me,
until I proclaim your might
to all the generations to come.*
Your power 19and your righteousness, O God,
reach the high heavens.

You who have done great things,
O God, who is like you?
20 You who have made me see many troubles and calamities
will revive me again;
from the depths of the earth
you will bring me up again.
21 You will increase my honour,
and comfort me once again.

22 I will also praise you with the harp
for your faithfulness, O my God;
I will sing praises to you with the lyre,
O Holy One of Israel.
23 My lips will shout for joy
when I sing praises to you;
my soul also, which you have rescued.
24 All day long my tongue will talk of your righteous help,
for those who tried to do me harm
have been put to shame, and disgraced.

Joining in prayer for the Peace of Jerusalem and for our beloved America.

It’s like the Israelites started out in the brickyards in Egypt and in the exile ended up in Egypt.
