Revelation 4:1-6

The Throne in Heaven

1After this I looked, and there before me was a door standing open in heaven. And the voice I had first heard speaking to me like a trumpet said, “Come up here, and I will show you what must take place after this.” 2At once I was in the Spirit, and there before me was a throne in heaven with someone sitting on it. 3And the one who sat there had the appearance of jasper and ruby. A rainbow that shone like an emerald encircled the throne. 4Surrounding the throne were twenty-four other thrones, and seated on them were twenty-four elders. They were dressed in white and had crowns of gold on their heads. 5From the throne came flashes of lightning, rumblings and peals of thunder. In front of the throne, seven lamps were blazing. These are the seven spirits a of God. 6Also in front of the throne there was what looked like a sea of glass, clear as crystal.

Oh LORD,
Our God,
How Wonderful,
How Majestic,
How Excellent is Your Most Holy Name!
Our Hearts Overflow with Praise and Wonder at Your Glory!
You Alone Are Worthy of Our Love and Adoration,
You Alone Are Worthy Of Worship,
For You Alone Are The Omnipotent,
Eternal and Omniscient,
Everlasting and Almighty God.

Let all that has been Concealed
Be Revealed.

Father, We Pray For The Peace Of Jerusalem,
According To Your Will and Promise.
We Pray That You Will Forgive The Sins
of Our Own Nation,
and Lead us all to Godly Repentance.
Create in Us Clean Hearts, Oh LORD,
and Renew a Right Spirit Within Us.

This we Pray Together,
As We Await Your Messiah,
Blessed Be He,
To Set Up His Kingdom,
And Make All Things Right.

John's Vision of Heaven in the Book of revelation is one of only a few descriptions we have in the Bible of that Marvelous Place. The Prophet Ezekiel describes it as Whirling Wheels and Isaiah describes Cherubim Surrounding the Throne of God, singing His Praises. All have the same sense of Wonder and Awe.

John's Vision is perhaps the most detailed, and in it he describes a "Sea of Glass, Clear as Crystal".

I've seen some magnificent seascapes in my time, but nothing that compares to that!

As usual, I will include illustrations in my replies, but they will all be woefully inadequate!
