One of my favorite lines from the old Monty Python Show was when two "old ladies" were discussing the eminent "Dr Bronowski". The first "lady" says "Ooo. Dr. Bronowski knows EVERYTHING!" The other "lady" says: "I wouldn't want to know everything. It would take all the MYSTERY out of life!"

The quality of "Omniscience", a word which you see often on this Thread, is that of knowing EVERYTHING. It is that of not being surprised by anything, of knowing the beginning from the End and the End from the Beginning. It is the quality of being unbound by the Time-Space Continuum. It is a state beyond our fathoming, and although we talk about it, we really do not understand it. In the great American Novel Moby Dick, Captain Ahab says: "This day was rehearsed by me and thee long before the oceans rolled."

After the stunning Victory at Jericho, Joshua and his fighting men became infected with a fatal flaw called "hubris". The Ancient Greek Heroes often got this flaw, and it would always lead to their downfall, one way or the other.

"Hubris" can best be defined as "overconfidence in one's own ability without the need or desire for God's help." It is ascribing the unattainable Qualities of God to one's self. The three big ones are Omniscience, Omnipotence, and Omnipresence". These qualities are impossible for finite people to imagine, much less attain.

It's getting harder to find a video online that does NOT use AI for its narration. Although I'm far from being a "Grammar Nazi", I'm constantly hearing errors in pronunciation, history facts, and common English Usage. No matter how much info is fed into AI, it will NEVER be Omniscient, because those who are feeding the programs aren't either. Here's a good example:

A reviewer of the book Moby Dick was discussing Melville's tendency to veer off into other subjects as he told his epic tale. The reviewer, (a real person, by the way), gave the example of a whole chapter dedicated to (bleep) rope. What had been bleeped out? As far as I had remembered there was nothing about rope in Moby Dick that needed to be censored.

Out came my well-worn copy of my second-favorite book in the English language. I went to the "Rope" Chapter. The word that had been bleeped out by AI was (Get Ready):

"HEMP".

AI is so stupid that it thought Melville was talking about Marijuana. I am NOT making this up.

The Victory at Jericho was so complete that Joshua and his Generals figured that the next town would be a cakewalk. "Don't even bother sending the whole army," they said. They didn't even bother asking God if this was the right thing to do at the time. Little did they know that they weren't in a position to ask God for anything, as, during the battle for Jericho, there had been some unauthorized LOOTING. Not only that, but the looter had taken stuff that had been dedicated to God. He quickly stashed the loot and figured nobody knew.

But God knew.

This, of course, doesn't excuse the hubris of Joshua and his generals going after the town without consulting God first. If they had, they could have located the looter first, and then taken care of business.

The first foray into the town was repelled, and 37 soldiers were killed. The rest fled in fear, saying their "hearts melted like water".

After consulting with God, and finding and punishing the looter, they were able to take the town.

Oh, incidentally, the name of the town was "Ai".
