Water, Rivers, and Streams in the Bible
Joshua 4:19-24

19On the tenth day of the first month the people went up from the Jordan and camped at Gilgal on the eastern border of Jericho. 20And Joshua set up at Gilgal the twelve stones they had taken out of the Jordan. 21He said to the Israelites, “In the future when your descendants ask their parents, ‘What do these stones mean?’ 22tell them, ‘Israel crossed the Jordan on dry ground.’ 23For the Lord your God dried up the Jordan before you until you had crossed over. The Lord your God did to the Jordan what he had done to the Red Sea b when he dried it up before us until we had crossed over. 24He did this so that all the peoples of the earth might know that the hand of the Lord is powerful and so that you might always fear the Lord your God.”.

Oh LORD,
Our God,

Ancient of Days;

and We Praise and Worship You with Our Whole Hearts,

Let all that has been Concealed

Father, We Pray For The Peace Of Jerusalem,
According To Your Will and Promise.

of Our Own Nation,

The Approach to Kailua Kona Airport on the Big Island of Hawaii is a shocker to many people. Because it is on the Leeward Side of five volcanoes, that area is very dry. As a result, Lava flows from hundreds of years ago still look like acres of black or brown rocks. Of course, around the hotels the area is planted with luxurious palm trees and tropical flowers. In order to get to these beautiful properties, one has to rent a car at the airport and drive for over twenty miles of what appears to be the surface of the Moon. Wild Donkeys peek shyly at the passing cars from behind rugged lave formations, leaving first-time visitors wondering if their airplane took a wrong turn somewhere.

On the black landscape, there are messages in pure white graffiti done in high contrast coral. Hawaiian words like "ALOHA" and "MAHALO" adorn the black rocks. Sometimes it's just initials, or names inscribed in a heart. While most are near the road, some are way up the sunbaked, black, jagged hillside.

Getting out of the air-conditioned car to trudge up the hill to write these messages is hard enough, but the white coral doesn't occur naturally up on the lava field. Those stones had to be gathered up and transported from the beach, miles away.

The Hawaiian Authorities frown upon this gathering and piling up of stones, graffiti on the rocks, and other vandalism. Nevertheless, the Tourists keep doing it. It's their way of saying:

"I WAS HERE".

God tells Joshua to take twelve stones from the riverbed and erect a monument on the shore, and twelve from the shore to pile up in the middle of the river. Since people forget miracles so quickly, it was necessary for God to tell the world:

"I WAS HERE".

May we never forget God's Miracles in our lives.

I wonder if that monument of rocks is still there in the river. I know This is still there, unchanged and still master of all. For that I’m thankful. I try to imagine what the crystal clear water flowing from His throne will be like when we see it in person. Have a blessed day LTOS. Another gift from God today.
