In 2025, lawmakers in several states introduced resolutions that urged the Supreme Court to overturn the 2015 ruling in Obergefell v. Hodges, which established same-sex civil marriage nationwide.
The North Dakota House and the Idaho House passed resolutions, but both efforts failed when sent to their respective state senates. In most states, the resolutions died in committees.
The limited success was in legislative chambers with overwhelming Republican supermajorities. The Idaho House, for example, has a 61-9 Republican majority and passed the resolution in a 46-24 vote.
The North Dakota House, with its 81-11 Republican majority, adopted the resolution more narrowly: 52-40.
Still, both measures died in the upper legislative chambers despite Republicans holding a 29-6 supermajority in the Idaho Senate and a 42-5 supermajority in the North Dakota Senate.
The current effort to urge state lawmakers to pass resolutions on Obergefell is being led by the national pro-family group MassResistance. Arthur Schaper, the group’s field director, told CNA he expects the resolutions to be reintroduced in 2026 in most states where lawmakers carried them this year and is working with lawmakers to carry them in several additional states.
“We are hitting the pedal to the metal,” Schaper said. “We are doubling down on this fight. We are not giving up. We are going to keep pushing.”

Schaper said MassResistance is in talks with lawmakers in other states where he hopes to get resolutions introduced that encourage the U.S. Supreme Court to overturn Obergefell. Some of the states he hopes will see resolutions include Louisiana, Florida, Arkansas, Missouri, and Kansas.
He noted that state-level resolutions have been able to launch larger legislative movements in the past, and that the next step will be to get states approving resolutions in both chambers.

Whether successful or not, I appreciate their efforts. Letting the public know that there is still a sizable segment of the population who disagree with the Court’s ruling will at least provide (hopefully) a buffer so that social conservatives aren’t relegated to the sidelines...or the prisons...or the trash heaps.
For many of us, this isn’t an issue that can be bargained over. It is one which we will never support or condone. For many of us, it is a hill to die on.
In the early days of "gay unions," there were "domestic partnerships." I saw less of a problem with that route, as it allowed two adults to form a common bond with less hazard to succeeding generations. Marriages with children should be very hard to dissolve and that should perhaps form the basis for a legal distinction.
That’s because the homo crowd stole the narrative with the friendly young handsome men holding hands and skipping along . Instead of the grisly reality of lubed up anal sex in a filthy park service restroom. Or the prospect of a runaway male teen with the hairy sweating stinking penis of a drunk gay man making a $20 investment in oral sex.
Or, a teacher in a public school showing 8 year old Johnny how the condom protects the penis from the anal wart and HPV viruses in anal sex.
That’s true.
It’s inexcusable for Republican legislative bodies to fail in this. Absolutely disgusting.
Once the state recognized SS marriage, it became legal to groom children in school. All the gender confusion originates there.
The problem is that many or most "conservatives" are not moral/social conservatives who are a type of libertarian types who want neither God or man telling them what to do, and or also hold to extreme isolationism, and see little warrant to oppose morality or other things unless it directly affects them.
Mary and Joseph didn’t need a certificate from Caesar to formalize their marriage, did they?
Very!
Raises the point that same-sex “marriage” didn’t exist even when there were no laws governing licensing. It didn’t exist not because it was “against the law”, but because such a concept makes zero sense - how can two people of the same sex being husband and wife? They can’t. Such a thing wasn’t even thought of, even among homosexual “couples”.

We need to keep fighting the good fight on this.
I absolutely agree
Very, very few churches will take on
the tough stuff on; even a little bit
these days.
That’s why most of our public is
Biblically-illiterate and sees no
problems with “transgender”, homosexual
marriage, abortion as birth control.
and they see no problem with a guy like
Obama feeding them spiritual poison; just
as long as he sounds good while speaking.
I AM encouraged to see SOME pushback in
several places these days. That tells me
people are waking up at least to some degree.
So we ARE making a difference but it is
an enormous task against the culture.
It would take a miracle of God to save America now. If that happens, great. Realistically I don’t see that happening as long as “legal” abominations exist and the people stubbornly refuse to see God’s Truths. We live in a time of I MYSELF AM GOD and that never ends well. The goats and sheep are being separated right now.
Hosea 4:1-... lack of knowledge is not mere ignorance, but active sin against God...
“There is no faithfulness or steadfast love, and no knowledge of God in the land; there is swearing, lying, murder, stealing, and committing adultery; they break all bounds, and bloodshed follows bloodshed.” The people were only ignorant of the Law because they actively ignored it.

“Give me a break, it’s legal now.”
— Massachusetts teacher in response to parents’ objection to teaching ‘gay marriage’ to children after the state court ruling mandating a change in law in 2003.
I fought the Hosea 4:1 battle for a long time
It’s now on a different plane - numbers that surprise me
Still - it’s not like before - but we’re still fighting
God bless
