🇺🇸Pray For The Peace of Jerusalem 🇮🇱(7/12/25)[Prayer]

Water, Rivers, and Streams in the Bible
Joshua 3
Crossing the Jordan
1Early in the morning Joshua and all the Israelites set out from Shittim and went to the Jordan, where they camped before crossing over. 2After three days the officers went throughout the camp, 3giving orders to the people: “When you see the ark of the covenant of the Lord your God, and the Levitical priests carrying it, you are to move out from your positions and follow it. 4Then you will know which way to go, since you have never been this way before. But keep a distance of about two thousand cubits a between you and the ark; do not go near it.”
5Joshua told the people, “Consecrate yourselves, for tomorrow the Lord will do amazing things among you.”
6Joshua said to the priests, “Take up the ark of the covenant and pass on ahead of the people.” So they took it up and went ahead of them.
7And the Lord said to Joshua, “Today I will begin to exalt you in the eyes of all Israel, so they may know that I am with you as I was with Moses. 8Tell the priests who carry the ark of the covenant: ‘When you reach the edge of the Jordan’s waters, go and stand in the river.’ ”
9Joshua said to the Israelites, “Come here and listen to the words of the Lord your God. 10This is how you will know that the living God is among you and that he will certainly drive out before you the Canaanites, Hittites, Hivites, Perizzites, Girgashites, Amorites and Jebusites. 11See, the ark of the covenant of the Lord of all the earth will go into the Jordan ahead of you. 12Now then, choose twelve men from the tribes of Israel, one from each tribe. 13And as soon as the priests who carry the ark of the Lord—the Lord of all the earth—set foot in the Jordan, its waters flowing downstream will be cut off and stand up in a heap.”
14So when the people broke camp to cross the Jordan, the priests carrying the ark of the covenant went ahead of them. 15Now the Jordan is at flood stage all during harvest. Yet as soon as the priests who carried the ark reached the Jordan and their feet touched the water’s edge, 16the water from upstream stopped flowing. It piled up in a heap a great distance away, at a town called Adam in the vicinity of Zarethan, while the water flowing down to the Sea of the Arabah (that is, the Dead Sea) was completely cut off. So the people crossed over opposite Jericho. 17The priests who carried the ark of the covenant of the Lord stopped in the middle of the Jordan and stood on dry ground, while all Israel passed by until the whole nation had completed the crossing on dry ground.

Today's Passage is rather long, so I will keep my Commentary short. (Or at least I'll TRY.)
Anyone who's seen the Epic movie "The Ten Commandments" remembers the scene when the Israelites cross the Red Sea. It was a Cinematic Masterpiece. The scene is almost duplicated in the third chapter of the Book of Joshua, but there are important differences. Here are a few contrasts:
1. In the Exodus, the Crossing is a large body of salt water.
In Joshua, it's a River in Flood Stage. (still dangerous).
2. In Exodus, the People are recently freed slaves,
In Joshua they are a Nation of Warriors.
3. To divide the Red Sea, Moses stretches out his Shepherd's Staff.
In Joshua, the Priests, carrying the Ark of the Covenant, venture out into the water FIRST, and then stay in the middle until everyone has passed.
4. Once the people got through the Red Sea, they sang and danced.
Once crossing the Jordan, the Israelites get down to business: including raising a monument and circumcising all the males.
5. In Exodus, people ate manna which God provided daily.
Once they crossed the Jordan, the manna stopped and people ate the produce of the land.
Taken one at a time, these differences may not seem to be significant. However, all together they show that the generation of slavery has died out, and a Nation has arisen in the new generation. This New Nation is governed by Secular Leadership (Joshua) and Religious Leadership (The Priests). But, over all, is the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, Who is enshrined in the Ark of the Covenant, which He Himself designed. Inside the Ark are the Ten Commandments (God's Law), a pot of manna (God's Provision), and the Rod of Aaron (God's Delegated Authority). The name of the place where they end up on the west side of the Jordan is called "Gilgal, which means "roll away". It was named "Gilgal" as it was the place where the Israelites circumcised the men and were said to "roll away" the reproach of slavery.
Perhaps they also meant "LET'S ROLL."
Come and Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem, For Our FRiends in Need, For Persecuted Believers, and For Our Beloved Nation.
”Let us acknowledge the LORD; let us press on to acknowledge him. As surely as the sun rises, he will appear; he will come to us like the winter rains, like the spring rains that water the earth.” (Hosea 6:3 NIV)

Psalm 116
1 I love the Lord, because he has heard
my voice and my supplications.
2 Because he inclined his ear to me,
therefore I will call on him as long as I live.
3 The snares of death encompassed me;
the pangs of Sheol laid hold on me;
I suffered distress and anguish.
4 Then I called on the name of the Lord:
‘O Lord, I pray, save my life!’
5 Gracious is the Lord, and righteous;
our God is merciful.
6 The Lord protects the simple;
when I was brought low, he saved me.
7 Return, O my soul, to your rest,
for the Lord has dealt bountifully with you.
8 For you have delivered my soul from death,
my eyes from tears,
my feet from stumbling.
9 I walk before the Lord
in the land of the living.
10 I kept my faith, even when I said,
‘I am greatly afflicted’;
11 I said in my consternation,
‘Everyone is a liar.’
12 What shall I return to the Lord
for all his bounty to me?
13 I will lift up the cup of salvation
and call on the name of the Lord,
14 I will pay my vows to the Lord
in the presence of all his people.
15 Precious in the sight of the Lord
is the death of his faithful ones.
16 O Lord, I am your servant;
I am your servant, the child of your serving-maid.
You have loosed my bonds.
17 I will offer to you a thanksgiving sacrifice
and call on the name of the Lord.
18 I will pay my vows to the Lord
in the presence of all his people,
19 in the courts of the house of the Lord,
in your midst, O Jerusalem.
Praise the Lord!

Joining in prayer for the Peace of Jerusalem and for our beloved America.
I’ve heard a commentary on this verse: It piled up in a heap a great distance away, at a town called Adam in the vicinity of Zarethan
It suggested the coming of atonement would roll back to the sins Adam.
