Water, Rivers, and Streams in the Bible
Numbers 27:12-14

12 Then the Lord said to Moses, “Go up this mountain in the Abarim Range and see the land I have given the Israelites. 13 After you have seen it, you too will be gathered to your people, as your brother Aaron was, 14 for when the community rebelled at the waters in the Desert of Zin, both of you disobeyed my command to honor me as holy before their eyes.” (These were the waters of Meribah Kadesh, in the Desert of Zin.)

15 Moses said to the Lord, 16 “May the Lord, the God who gives breath to all living things, appoint someone over this community 17 to go out and come in before them, one who will lead them out and bring them in, so the Lord’s people will not be like sheep without a shepherd.”

Oh LORD, Our God!

How Excellent,
How Wonderful,
How Perfect You Are!
My heart is Overwhelmed With Your Glory,
Your Magnificence, and Your Power!
When I think of how Awesome You Are,
Of How You Transcend Time and Space,
Of How You Created Everything That Is and Ever Was,
Of How You Tell History From the Beginning to The End
and the End to The Beginning,
Because You ARE the Beginning and The End,
I’m Overcome With Awe.

Let all that has been Concealed
Be Revealed.

Father, We Pray For The Peace Of Jerusalem,
According To Your Will and Promise.
We Pray That You Will Forgive The Sins
of Our Own Nation,
and Lead us all to Godly Repentance.
Create in Us Clean Hearts, Oh LORD,
and Renew a Right Spirit Within Us.

This we Pray Together,
As We Await Your Messiah,

To Set Up His Kingdom,
And Make All Things Right.

Once again we see a beautiful description of The Promised Land, where Moses WILL NOT be going. Joshua will be taking Moses' place at the head of Israel, going into the Promised Land.

God's reason for this chastisement of Moses is clearly stated: Moses lost his temper at the Waters of Meribah, and disobeyed God. The disrespect Moses showed toward God was more than just a tantrum, it was deeply symbolic of the timeline of the Death, Resurrection, and Relationship of the Messiah. After The Rock was Struck Once and For All, we only have to speak to The Rock to be given Fountains of Living Water.

This isn't the End of Moses though. He appears with Jesus in The Transfiguration, and, some say, Moses is one of the two Witnesses of Revelation.

God's Mercy and Omniscience are Eternal, and what might seem unfair or incomprehensible to us at one point in time, will come together at another, when we will know as we are known.

It still rubs me the wrong way at times, but God Knows Best.
