I urge, then, first of all,
that requests, prayers, intercession,
and thanksgiving be made

that we may live peaceful and quiet lives
in all godliness and holiness.

Heavenly Father –

It’s so easy to despair as we look at the world. Hear the news. See the images. Read the headlines. Take a gander at our debased culture.

It’s obvious. Evil has metastasized like cancer and spread deep and wide.

Yet, it’s been that way since the fall of the First Adam….

We thank you, Jesus, as the Last Adam, who has redeemed us from darkness and will eventually drive evil from God’s universe.

Meanwhile, Lord, be at our side to fight the good fight.

Grant us repentance and fill us with the Spirit. Equip us and empower us to do battle. Spark revival and healing in our land.

And for now, may we be heartened by God’s Promise during trials and tribulations:

Since the creation story in Genesis, the day starts in evening…darkness, then dawns in the light of a new day.

Now we wait in the watches of the night till the Sun of Righteousness arises with healing in His wings.

For we have this assurance:

May the Light of the World shine to reveal all that has been concealed and lead countless multitudes to salvation!

In Jesus Name we pray,

On this 23rd day June we look to the 23rd chapter of Proverbs:

The prudent see danger and take cover;
but the simple keep going and pay the penalty.

Father,
Upon the surface of this verse we seem to glean little. Yet we are advised in Prov. 25:2
It is the glory of God to conceal a matter
and the honor of kings to search it out.

So help us dig deeper and find what may be concealed. For we are encouraged to go beyond reading the Word to the studying of the Scriptures. First, Father, in our personal lives help us to not "keep going" along those paths which yield not blessing, but emptiness, vanity, and cursing. Sometimes it is done blindly/unknowingly; at other times defiantly and dismissively. Yet, either way, Lord, help us to choose that which is right and prudent.

Secondly, Father, we pray as patriots concerned for the direction of our country. We rejoice in having a righteous man in the Oval Office who has surrounded himself with prudent advisors. They were able to see the dangers which Iran posed and instead of going ahead with the imprudent choices of past administrations saw to it that America "took cover" through those successful bombing strikes.

Unfortunately, it is not the same for other branches of our government. On FNC digital this morning a former justice of the Supreme Court is encouraging the apostasy of the frivolous court system. Once again, a highly credentialed "scribe" is demonstrating the foolishness of being over-educated; sanctimonious-ness of those who fail to be be guided by the Holy Scriptures.

Lord, may You direct the steps of all three branches of our government.

In Your Word, Lord, You admonish that the prayers of a righteous man availeth much. We claim this promise. For we come to Thee with that very great imputed righteousness, that which Christ bestows and gives graciously --- so may our prayers avail much.
