Oh LORD, You are Forever Holy and Righteous.
How Excellent is Your Name!
It is You Who Stretched out the Heavens,
And it is You Who laid the Foundations of the Earth.
You Alone Are Worthy of Praise,
and You Alone Are The One True God.

Ancient of Days,
Rock of Ages,
Eternal, and Almighty,

in Endless Worship and Thanksgiving!

Let all that has been Concealed
Be Revealed.

Father, We Pray For The Peace Of Jerusalem,

When I was a kid, I thought that the Neponset River, which flowed behind my house, was enormous. Then I saw the Charles River in Boston, and realized that the Neponset was a mere trickle in comparison. The Charles can't hold a candle to the Mighty Mississippi, and don't ask about the Congo, the Nile, or the Amazon! Nevertheless, the muddy little Neponset River divided the City of Boston Working Class Neighborhood of Mattapan from the wealthy and elite town of Milton, which was also in a different County (Norfolk) than Boston (Suffolk). George Bush Sr. was born right across the river from me in a mansion in Milton, but it might as well have been on the Moon. The skinny little river separated two cities, two counties, and two socio-economic classes.

This wasn't a new phenomenon, nor was it unusual. The "Wrong Side of the River" preceded the "Wrong Side of The Tracks" by millennia.

In Ancient Times, Rivers were Borders that separated entire Peoples. If we look at the maps and pictures of the Jabbok River, in present-day Jordan, we can see that it's not much of a river. It's even smaller than the Neponset. God is very specific about this little river. The Israelites are instructed to leave the people on the other side of that river alone. Their mission is to cross the Jordan.

It will be a crossing almost as dramatic as the Red Sea Crossing, but on a much smaller scale. Even a small river can be a BIG Barrier.
