Luther before the Diet: Chapter on Reformer Martin Luther
The Great Controversy ^ | 1911 | Ellen White

Posted on 05/23/2025 6:12:50 AM PDT by vespa300

The Reformation did not, as many suppose, end with Luther. It is to be continued to the close of this world's history. Luther had a great work to do in reflecting to others the light which God had permitted to shine upon him; yet he did not receive all the light which was to be given to the world. From that time to this, new light has been continually shining upon the Scriptures, and new truths have been constantly unfolding.

She writes and quotes the following in this chapter on the Morning star of the Protetant Reformation, his words to an assembly on his way to be tried before the Diet.

Quote:

To a crowded assembly he spoke from the words of Christ, “Peace be unto you.” “Philosophers, doctors, and writers,” he said, “have endeavored to teach men the way to obtain everlasting life, and they have not succeeded. I will now tell it to you: ... God has raised one Man from the dead, the Lord Jesus Christ, that He might destroy death, extirpate sin, and shut the gates of hell. This is the work of salvation.... Christ has vanquished! this is the joyful news; and we are saved by His work, and not by our own.... Our Lord Jesus Christ said, ‘Peace be unto you; behold My hands;’ that is to say, Behold, O man! it is I, I alone, who have taken away thy sin, and ransomed thee; and now thou hast peace, saith the Lord.”

I encourage all of you to read those words of Luther. They are as compelling and powerful as can be in regards who our Lord Jesus Christ.....not a church, not a priest, not a system of rituals and ceremony...Luther nailed it!

She further writes about the words of Luther.

Quote:

The people listened as if spellbound. The bread of life was broken to those starving souls. Christ was lifted up before them as above popes, legates, emperors, and kings. Luther made no reference to his own perilous position. He did not seek to make himself the object of thought or sympathy. In the contemplation of Christ he had lost sight of self. He hid behind the Man of Calvary, seeking only to present Jesus as the sinner’s Redeemer.

Luther didn’t expose new revelation; he re-exposed what has always been in Scripture. Hence, reform.

_____Luther didn’t expose new revelation; he re-exposed what has always been in Scripture. Hence, reform.+____

The church of the dark ages, and we all know who she is...had buried truth so deep, it was almost lost. Prophecy however says the woman fled into the wilderness during this 1260 year dark period. And she was nourished by sin sick souls whom God led , such as the Waldenses who hid in the caves and mountains and copied the Bible by hand.

The counterfeit church had substituted the gospel with a system that is a mammoth deception, and to such a degee, the light almost went out.

God couldn’t restore everything at once. He works in his providence....using Luther for the issue of his day....righteousness by faith ALONE. The baptists on baptism by immersion, and so on. And yes, truth has always been in scripture but not always known or understood even by it’s authors. Daniel did not understand his vision of prophecy and the angel said seal up the vision for it concerns a time of the end.

Present truth is happening and God is restoring it as he prepares a people to be translated alive to heaven together with those who will be resurrected and together we ascend to meet him in the air. But before all that.....the mammoth system of deception this mammoth Christian superpower will have her day again.......but it will be brief.

And she will enforce her will and persecute all who don’t conform. It’s coming.

Ellen G. White’s Influence:
Ellen G. White (1827-1915) was a co-founder of the Seventh-day Adventist Church, and her writings and visions are considered by Adventists to be divinely inspired and authoritative.

LCMS Perspective:
The Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod (LCMS) holds a different perspective. They view Ellen White’s writings as a non-Biblical source of theology, and they do not accept her teachings as authoritative scripture.

Biblical Authority:
The LCMS emphasizes the Bible as the ultimate authority in matters of faith and doctrine.

Key Differences:
The LCMS and the Seventh-day Adventist Church have differing views on the role of scripture, the nature of God, and the timing of Christ’s return.

I always wondered why Luther posted his letter on Halloween.

https://www.christianity.com/wiki/holidays/the-connection-between-halloween-reformation-day.html

“ There’s a curious connection between Halloween and Reformation Day, and it’s more than just proximity on the calendar. Why did Martin Luther nail his famous 95 Theses to the Wittenberg church door on October 31, 1517? He was confronting two religious observances that promoted false saintliness and exploited people’s fear of judgment and purgatory…..What Is Reformation Day?
Reformation Day (October 31) commemorates Luther’s posting of his 95 Theses on the door of the Castle Church in Wittenberg, Germany on October 31, 1517. This act triggered the Reformation, as they were immediately translated and distributed across Germany in a matter of weeks. The Protestant Reformation was the rediscovery of the doctrine of justification—that is, salvation by grace alone (Gal. 2:21) through faith alone in Christ alone. It was also the protest against the corruption within the Roman Catholic Church. The century before the Reformation was marked by widespread dismay with the corruption of the leaders in the Roman Catholic Church and with its false doctrines, biblical illiteracy, and superstition. Monks, priests, bishops, and popes in Rome taught unbiblical doctrines like the selling of indulgences, the treasury of merit, purgatory, and salvation through good works…..

Yep, excellent. There is a documentary on Luther with a very somber and ominious opening. It’s “All hallows Eve” and it shows a man running to the Catholic Church with a piece of paper in his hands and hands it to the Priest who throws it to the ground.

And what Luther did changed the world as we know it. Thank God! Her noon day was to end thanks to the Protestant Heroes. For 1200 years she held the world hostage. But God triumphed and will triumph.

I believe Luther was was divinely inspired. And Wesley, and Huss, and Billy Graham, I believe we are all divinely inspired as long as we are making the BIBLE ALONE our authority.

And that is what Ellen White did. She was a Protestant. She said she was a “lesser light” leading to the “greater light”......the Bible.

Thank you.

She was a drunk and false prophet. There you happy now. Now let’s get back to what she actually wrote.

Who could write those things she wrote about Luther and the protestant reformers?

Amazing. Simply Amazing..

I tell you what—find any concept in Scripture about the Investigative Judgment, and then you can claim you took her inspiration from the BIBLE ALONE (as put you it in Post #9)

____I tell you what—find any concept in Scripture about the Investigative Judgment, and then you can claim you took her inspiration from the BIBLE ALONE (as put you it in Post #9)____

Heck, even Billy Graham believed in the Judgement. GEt outta here.

1 Peter 4:17 For the time has come for judgment to begin at the house of God; and if it begins with us first, what will be the end of those who do not obey the gospel of God?

Matthew 12:36
New King James Version
36 But I say to you that for every idle word men may speak, they will give account of it in the day of judgment.

Hebrews 9:27
27 And as it is appointed for men to die once, but after this the judgment,

Acts 17:31
New King James Version
31 because He has appointed a day on which He will judge the world in righteousness by the Man whom He has ordained. He has given assurance of this to all by raising Him from the dead.”

Dang, you people really embarrass yourselves. Do you EVER read the Bible. And here’s the greatest judgement texts in all of scripture.....God even showed Daniel the courtroom.

You people are weak.....really weak.

Daniel 7: 9 and 10

Vision of the Ancient of Days
9 “I watched till thrones were [d]put in place,
And the Ancient of Days was seated;
His garment was white as snow,
And the hair of His head was like pure wool.
His throne was a fiery flame,
Its wheels a burning fire;
10 A fiery stream issued
And came forth from before Him.
A thousand thousands ministered to Him;
Ten thousand times ten thousand stood before Him.
The [e]court was seated,
And the books were opened.

Now go find a church that teaches truth.....I recommend your nearest Seventh day Adventist church. We stick out like a sore thumb because the truth always does.

The Judgment in the Bible is NOT the Investigative Judgment you teach.

Quit lying to people--or is that a Commandment you don't mind breaking?

hahaha...a judgement is a judgement. What are you talking about? A review and a decision. What is about those texts you don’t get? It’s that hard. And yes we believe this judgement is going on NOW. Duh......

I’m beginning to think you people NEVER read the Bible.

Revelation 14:7.....the HOUR OF HIS JUDGEMENT HAS COME..and notice something interesting .......the same language about the judgement..we see the very same language from the Sabbath commandment.....the CREATOR.....Worship the CREATOR who made heaven and earth!

You got the judgement and the language of the Sabbath in the same text!! Gee...ya think God is trying to tell us something.....what the end time issue is? A fraud a phoney man made law having to do with holy time...and the JUDGEMENT.

Try reading and studying the bible for once......and Daniel 8:14 tells us exactly when this judgement began....at the end of the 2300 days (year) prophecy. those time prophecies all came to pass.....every one of them....

Stop being Biblically illiterate. You embarrass yourself.....

Revelation 14:7
New King James Version
7 saying with a loud voice, “Fear God and give glory to Him, for the hour of His judgment has come; and worship Him who made heaven and earth, the sea and springs of water.”

Last point, then I'll leave you to your delusion.

A Judgment does not include the act of review. That is separate. Your "Investigative Judgment" makes Jesus out to be a liar. Nowhere in Scripture does it say that God is still reviewing our lives to see if we merit heaven. That is what your "Investigative" Judgment includes that the actual Judgment does not.

Of course, I understand WHY you are so adamant about deceiving people about this point. It means that you hold EGW in higher regard than you do Jesus, whom you call a liar--and that would make you a cult and not Protestant. We can't have that, can we?

____A Judgment does not include the act of review. That is separate. Your “Investigative Judgment” makes Jesus out to be a liar.____

Uh, I guess you didn’t read what Jesus said.....you are unwell, some serious denial.

Someday you will learn God is Love...but he’s also JUST. True and JUST are his ways. Anyone can claim to be a Christian....even you.

But proof is in the walk.....not the talk. that’s why there are “books” genius. Daniel 7 even describes the courtroom....a throne with “Wheels”.....because Jesus has gone from priest to Judge....from holy to most holy now that we are in the Judgement hour.

What the hell do you think John is seeing in his vision on Revelation.....The heavenly Sanctuary! And went on the Sanctuary? The priestly function and then once a year..the ATONEMENT.....the Judgement.

you should stop embarrassing yourself and study the Sanctuary model and how the process worked. The lamb...Jesus, the priest...Jesus. The judge...Jesus. courtyard. holy place. Most holy place.

And yes.....the Bible warns us.....not to have our name CAST OUT OF THE BOOK OF LIFE. Jesus said if you abide in him....he will not cast you out of the book of life. If you couldn’t be cast out......he wouldn’t have warned us of the possiblity.

You are an amateur. Amateur hour theology.

Now.....study Daniel 7 and all those texts I gave you....and yes this one from Jesus himself....he wasn’t a liar.....he warned us.....don’t be a phoney. Dont talk the talk....walk the walk. And if you do....you will not come under CONDEMNATION.....we all are judged. But the books show our faith......if it was real or phoney.....and if it’s real as evidenced by the books.....no condemnation.

I don’t think you EVER read the Bible.

the words of Jesus......genius:

Matthew 12:36....Jesus talking here genius:

36 But I say to you that for every idle word men may speak, they will give account of it in the day of judgment. 37 For by your words you will be justified, and by your words you will be condemned.”
