đşđ¸Pray For The Peace of Jerusalem đŽđą(5/22/25)[Prayer]

Water, Rivers, and Streams in the Bible
Genesis 37:1-36
12Â Now his brothers had gone to graze their fatherâs flocks near Shechem, 13Â and Israel said to Joseph, âAs you know, your brothers are grazing the flocks near Shechem. Come, I am going to send you to them.â
âVery well,â he replied.
14Â So he said to him, âGo and see if all is well with your brothers and with the flocks, and bring word back to me.â Then he sent him off from the Valley of Hebron.
When Joseph arrived at Shechem, 15Â a man found him wandering around in the fields and asked him, âWhat are you looking for?â
16Â He replied, âIâm looking for my brothers. Can you tell me where they are grazing their flocks?â
17Â âThey have moved on from here,â the man answered. âI heard them say, âLetâs go to Dothan.ââ
So Joseph went after his brothers and found them near Dothan. 18Â But they saw him in the distance, and before he reached them, they plotted to kill him.
19Â âHere comes that dreamer!â they said to each other. 20Â âCome now, letâs kill him and throw him into one of these cisterns and say that a ferocious animal devoured him. Then weâll see what comes of his dreams.â
21Â When Reuben heard this, he tried to rescue him from their hands. âLetâs not take his life,â he said. 22Â âDonât shed any blood. Throw him into this cistern here in the wilderness, but donât lay a hand on him.â Reuben said this to rescue him from them and take him back to his father.
23Â So when Joseph came to his brothers, they stripped him of his robeâthe ornate robe he was wearingâ 24Â and they took him and threw him into the cistern. The cistern was empty; there was no water in it.
25Â As they sat down to eat their meal, they looked up and saw a caravan of Ishmaelites coming from Gilead. Their camels were loaded with spices, balm and myrrh, and they were on their way to take them down to Egypt.
26Â Judah said to his brothers, âWhat will we gain if we kill our brother and cover up his blood? 27Â Come, letâs sell him to the Ishmaelites and not lay our hands on him; after all, he is our brother, our own flesh and blood.â His brothers agreed.
28Â So when the Midianite merchants came by, his brothers pulled Joseph up out of the cistern and sold him for twenty shekels[b] of silver to the Ishmaelites, who took him to Egypt.
29Â When Reuben returned to the cistern and saw that Joseph was not there, he tore his clothes. 30Â He went back to his brothers and said, âThe boy isnât there! Where can I turn now?â
31Â Then they got Josephâs robe, slaughtered a goat and dipped the robe in the blood. 32Â They took the ornate robe back to their father and said, âWe found this. Examine it to see whether it is your sonâs robe.â
33Â He recognized it and said, âIt is my sonâs robe! Some ferocious animal has devoured him. Joseph has surely been torn to pieces.â
34Â Then Jacob tore his clothes, put on sackcloth and mourned for his son many days. 35Â All his sons and daughters came to comfort him, but he refused to be comforted. âNo,â he said, âI will continue to mourn until I join my son in the grave.â So his father wept for him.
36Â Meanwhile, the Midianites[c] sold Joseph in Egypt to Potiphar, one of Pharaohâs officials, the captain of the guard.

Pray For The Peace of Jerusalem

Oh LORD,
Our God,
How Excellent is Your Most Holy Name!
You Are So Holy,
and Worthy of Praise and Worship,
we are Overwhelmed by Your Glory!
It is You Who Have Made The Earth
and All it Contains,
from the tiniest of Creatures,
to the Greatest of the Mountains,
Forests and Deserts.
It is You Who Command the Motion of the Stars,
The Galaxies,
and the Great Singularities of Time and Space,
And it is You Who Create New Life
in the Secret Place of a Mother's Womb!
Oh, Father, You Are So Wonderful,
So Glorious,
So Magnificent,
And Mere Words Don't even Tell The Story of Your Awesome Splendor!
Let all that has been Concealed
Be Revealed.
Father, We Pray For The Peace Of Jerusalem,
According To Your Will and Promise.
We Pray That You Will Forgive The Sins
of Our Own Nation,
and Lead us all to Godly Repentance.
Create in Us Clean Hearts, Oh LORD,
and Renew a Right Spirit Within Us.
This we Pray Together,
As We Await Your Messiah,
Blessed Be He,
To Set Up His Kingdom,
And Make All Things Right.
âThe Greatest Of these Is Love.â

The House was Perfect for Mom and Dad's growing family. Still within the Boston City Limits, it boasted FOUR Bedrooms, One and a Half Bathrooms, a big yard, and was close to a Church and a Boston Public School. It was right on the edge of Reservation Land, and there was a Ballpark and Public Swimming Pool right around the corner. It's still a nice area, and my Nephew and his wife own a lovely house on that very street today.
Dad was ready to make an offer, but first, he went down to the basement.
"Uh oh," he muttered to Mom. "Look at that Soil Pipe. It goes to the Back Yard instead of the Front. I don't think this house is hooked up to the Boston City Sewer System."
Dad confronted the Real Estate Agent about the Sewer System, and he shuffled his feet and admitted that the house wasn't hooked up to the city, that it was the oldest house on the block, and that it had a well and cesspool in the back yard. It was an Instant Deal Breaker. One of the reasons one puts up with living in a City is for the INFRASTRUCTURE.
Massachusetts now has "Title 5", which governs Septic Systems. A house can't be bought or sold without a "Title 5 Inspection", to assure that the house has proper drainage and disposal of waste. Older homes require some provision in the Mortgage agreement that the Title 5 Requirements are met before the house is sold.
I witnessed that entire event when it happened. I remember my Dad's resolute knowledge, the agent's embarrassment, and Mom's disappointment. It wasn't a pretty scene, and I'll never forget it. Next time I'm riding my bike, I might just ride to that street and see if the old house is still there. Then I'll visit my Nephew and his wife.â¤ď¸
In the Middle East, it doesn't rain much. People were dependent upon Rivers, Streams, and Wells. Cisterns were dug to store precious water. There were also practices which were codified into Law during the Exodus, of burying waste far from the Source of the Water. This was both healthy and logical, but still it was made into a Law. If a well went dry, or became polluted, the area was abandoned. It was then only useful for allowing the sheep to graze, and then moving on.
It was in this type of dry well that Joseph was lowered into by his brothers. I can't even imagine the terror and despair this would have caused the 17-year-old kid. There was no way out, and I presume that Joseph thought he was going to die there.
We will see a similar situation when we get to the prophet Jeremiah, but, as you can see, there's a LOT of "Water" in the Bible. It's going to take a while.
Come and Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem, For Our FRiends in Need, For Persecuted Believers, and For Our Beloved Nation.
âLet us acknowledge the LORD; let us press on to acknowledge him. As surely as the sun rises, he will appear; he will come to us like the winter rains, like the spring rains that water the earth.â (Hosea 6:3 NIV)

Psalm 121
A Song of Ascents.
1 I lift up my eyes to the hillsâ
from where will my help come?
2 My help comes from the Lord,
who made heaven and earth.
3 He will not let your foot be moved;
he who keeps you will not slumber.
4 He who keeps Israel
will neither slumber nor sleep.
5 The Lord is your keeper;
the Lord is your shade at your right hand.
6 The sun shall not strike you by day,
nor the moon by night.
7 The Lord will keep you from all evil;
he will keep your life.
8 The Lord will keep
your going out and your coming in
from this time on and for evermore.
