🇺🇸Pray For The Peace of Jerusalem 🇮🇱(5/18/25)[Prayer]

Water, Rivers, and Streams in the Bible
Genesis 21:20-34

20 God was with the boy as he grew up. He lived in the desert and became an archer. 21 While he was living in the Desert of Paran, his mother got a wife for him from Egypt.

The Treaty at Beersheba

22 At that time Abimelek and Phicol the commander of his forces said to Abraham, “God is with you in everything you do. 23 Now swear to me here before God that you will not deal falsely with me or my children or my descendants. Show to me and the country where you now reside as a foreigner the same kindness I have shown to you.”

24 Abraham said, “I swear it.”

25 Then Abraham complained to Abimelek about a well of water that Abimelek’s servants had seized. 26 But Abimelek said, “I don’t know who has done this. You did not tell me, and I heard about it only today.”

27 So Abraham brought sheep and cattle and gave them to Abimelek, and the two men made a treaty. 28 Abraham set apart seven ewe lambs from the flock, 29 and Abimelek asked Abraham, “What is the meaning of these seven ewe lambs you have set apart by themselves?”

30 He replied, “Accept these seven lambs from my hand as a witness that I dug this well.”

31 So that place was called Beersheba,[d] because the two men swore an oath there.

32 After the treaty had been made at Beersheba, Abimelek and Phicol the commander of his forces returned to the land of the Philistines. 33 Abraham planted a tamarisk tree in Beersheba, and there he called on the name of the Lord, the Eternal God. 34 And Abraham stayed in the land of the Philistines for a long time.

Pray For The Peace of Jerusalem

Oh LORD,
Our God,
How Excellent is Your Name over All The Earth!
The Heavens Declare Your Glory,
And All of Your Creation Sings Your Praises!
Holy, Righteous, Just, and True,
Who is Like You?
There is No Other.
For You Alone Are Worthy,
You Alone Are LORD,
You Alone Are The One True God of Abraham!
Help Us To Worship You in Spirit and In Truth.

Let all that has been Concealed
Be Revealed.

Father, We Pray For The Peace Of Jerusalem,
According To Your Will and Promise.
We Pray That You Will Forgive The Sins
of Our Own Nation,
and Lead us all to Godly Repentance.
Create in Us Clean Hearts, Oh LORD,
and Renew a Right Spirit Within Us.

This we Pray Together,
As We Await Your Messiah,
Blessed Be He,
To Set Up His Kingdom,
And Make All Things Right.

”The Greatest Of these Is Love.”

If you would like to be on or off the Daily Ping List, please let me know.

Psalm 94

1 O Lord, you God of vengeance,
you God of vengeance, shine forth!
2 Rise up, O judge of the earth;
give to the proud what they deserve!
3 O Lord, how long shall the wicked,
how long shall the wicked exult?

4 They pour out their arrogant words;
all the evildoers boast.
5 They crush your people, O Lord,
and afflict your heritage.
6 They kill the widow and the stranger,
they murder the orphan,
7 and they say, ‘The Lord does not see;
the God of Jacob does not perceive.’

8 Understand, O dullest of the people;
fools, when will you be wise?
9 He who planted the ear, does he not hear?
He who formed the eye, does he not see?
10 He who disciplines the nations,
he who teaches knowledge to humankind,
does he not chastise?
11 The Lord knows our thoughts,*
that they are but an empty breath.

12 Happy are those whom you discipline, O Lord,
and whom you teach out of your law,
13 giving them respite from days of trouble,
until a pit is dug for the wicked.
14 For the Lord will not forsake his people;
he will not abandon his heritage;
15 for justice will return to the righteous,
and all the upright in heart will follow it.

16 Who rises up for me against the wicked?
Who stands up for me against evildoers?
17 If the Lord had not been my help,
my soul would soon have lived in the land of silence.
18 When I thought, ‘My foot is slipping’,
your steadfast love, O Lord, held me up.
19 When the cares of my heart are many,
your consolations cheer my soul.
20 Can wicked rulers be allied with you,
those who contrive mischief by statute?
21 They band together against the life of the righteous,
and condemn the innocent to death.
22 But the Lord has become my stronghold,
and my God the rock of my refuge.
23 He will repay them for their iniquity
and wipe them out for their wickedness;
the Lord our God will wipe them out.

Popular Opinion is that World War 1 was instigated by The Assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand. Because of complex Family Ties, Convoluted Alliances, and Outdated Empires, the World was plunged into a Conflict unlike anyone had ever seen before. It was so bad that it was dubbed "The Great War" and "The War To End All Wars". To this day we observe that Date of the Armistice, November 11th, but, since WW1 didn't end all wars, we call it "Veterans Day".

WW1 destroyed Empires, but created new ones. It precipitated the Russian Revolution, and , due to what seemed to Hitler to be "a stab in the back" for Germany, launched the Nazi Party. That, of course, led to World War 2, The Development of the Atomic Bomb, the Cold War, Korea, Vietnam, and Marxist Revolutions in China, Africa, Cuba, and South America. One thing has led to another. One could even argue that the Muslim Brotherhood was related to the Nazis, and the Foundation of the Modern State of Israel was accelerated by the Horrors of The Holocaust.

While I'm no expert, most students of History will agree that the Twentieth Century was a Turning Point in the History of Our Planet. If it hadn't been Archduke Ferdinand, it would have been some other spark that would have ignited the chain of events. He was, after all, not a super-important world leader. He hadn't even ascended to the throne yet.

When JFK was assassinated in 1963, at the height of the Cold War, many people assumed that it had been perpetrated by The Soviet Union. Having just been traumatized by The Cuban Missile Crisis, we braced for Nuclear Annihilation. I remember being annoyed that we didn't have a Fallout Shelter, but, living in a Key Eastern City, it wouldn't have done any good. When we were told that it was a lone lunatic who did the killing, it was small comfort, as Gavrilo Princip was reported to have been a lone lunatic as well...and yet... that didn't prevent WW1. It can be argued that WW1 never ended, even though we are 110 years beyond it.

The situation in Beersheba could have turned just as ugly. Abraham dug a well, which was the only way of getting water in the desert, and whoever dug a well was considered the owner. Abimelek, a ruler in the area was unaware that some of his flunkies had seized the well. Instead of "Declaring War" Abraham communicated directly with Abimelek, and made him aware of the situation. Rather than start an Ancient WW1, Abraham and Abimelek talked about it like Grown-Ups, and swore an Oath to each other. The Well, with a reconstruction of a little shelter and a tree like the one Abraham planted, still exists in Beersheba.

It's a very long ride through the desert to see it, and, unless one is aware of the importance of the Bible Story, not much to see.

But, there it is, as a reminder that it's possible to talk things over without blowing things up.

Come and Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem, For Our FRiends in Need, For Persecuted Believers, and For Our Beloved Nation.

”Let us acknowledge the LORD; let us press on to acknowledge him. As surely as the sun rises, he will appear; he will come to us like the winter rains, like the spring rains that water the earth.” (Hosea 6:3 NIV)
