Water, Rivers, and Streams in the Bible
Genesis 8:1-5

8 But God remembered Noah and all the wild animals and the livestock that were with him in the ark, and he sent a wind over the earth, and the waters receded. 2 Now the springs of the deep and the floodgates of the heavens had been closed, and the rain had stopped falling from the sky. 3 The water receded steadily from the earth. At the end of the hundred and fifty days the water had gone down, 4 and on the seventeenth day of the seventh month the ark came to rest on the mountains of Ararat. 5 The waters continued to recede until the tenth month, and on the first day of the tenth month the tops of the mountains became visible.

HAPPY MOTHERS DAY!

My Mom's best friend all the way back to childhood was Elly. I thought Elly was the COOLEST woman in the whole world, because she was a pilot and had her own airplane. Elly's husband was a Veteran of WW2, and since he was a slightly built man, had been a ball-turret gunner in the belly of a B-17 during the War. He was also a Pilot, as well as an Aerial Photographer and talented Artist.

During the War, Elly flew planes for the Military, ferrying them from the factories where they had been made to the bases where they were loaded onto ships for deployment.

When I was a kid, I practically worshiped my Mom's Best Friend. Her kids were as close to us as our blood relatives.

In his middle-age, Elly's husband began to design and build his own airplane in the basement of their little house. Everybody thought he was crazy for doing this, as we speculated that it would be impossible to remove the completed airplane out of the basement. What was he up to anyway? Elly didn't check on the airplane, figuring that her husband knew what he was doing.

Unexpectedly, Elly's husband died young of a sudden heart attack. Elly had to sell her house, which was complicated by the fact that there was an airplane in the basement. An Experimental Aircraft Club, in which Elly's husband had been a member, offered to remove the aircraft if they possibly could without damaging the house. When they examined the aircraft, they found that it could be easily disassembled and piled upon a small trailer. When they reassembled the airplane and tested it...IT FLEW!

In honor of Mothers Day, I would like to take a speculative look at a major character in this story, who has no name mentioned, so we will call her "Mrs. Noah". She bore Noah three sons, all of whom got married and lived nearby. With three daughters-in-law, Mrs. Noah could look forward to a happy life surrounded by grandchildren.

But then, her husband got involved in a project that had everybody mocking him. Noah worked on the project for years, and it looked like a ridiculous endeavor. But, Mrs. Noah evidently didn't give her husband any trouble over it, not even when he started collecting ANIMALS and filling up the boat with them.

Then, she willingly got onto the boat with Noah, and managed to convince her daughters-in-law to get on the boat with her sons. You have to admit, this took a lot of Faith and Devotion on her part. Most of us ladies would have probably filed for divorce at this point!

Mrs. Noah and her three sons and daughters-in-law survived the Flood and became the Progenitors of many races and nationalities of people. The genealogies include Egyptians, Arabs, Canaanites, Philistines, Africans, Persians, and, of course, The Jews. The Jews are descendants of Shem, one of Noah's three sons. It is from Shem's name that we get the word "Semite".

Mrs. Noah was wise not to interfere with her Hubby's "Project".
