The autocratic Chinese Communist Party (CCP) is imposing severe restrictions on Christian missionary activity in the country, arguing loyalty to the party usurps all other beliefs and credos.

The regulations, which take effect May 1, prohibit foreigners from preaching, sharing their faith, or establishing religious organizations without official government approval, persecution.org reports.

This is barely a change in policy as they've been completely hostile to missionary work for years. I know of a number of missionaries there, and all have a "cover" such as being English teachers or corporate liaisons, etc.

It's a pain because they use retina scanners in their airports, so you can't just do a name change and get a new passport after you are caught and deported. I know a couple people who have tried.
