Our Father in Heaven
We Worship Your Holy Name!
We Love You, LORD.
With Our Whole Heart,

The Ford Crown Victoria was a favorite of the Police Department in New York City. They were sold after a few years of service, and still had many useful miles left in them. My brother often would fly to New York, and drive home in an "Almost New" Crown Vic for his Cab Company. Of course, all the Police Markings and Equipment had been removed, and it looked like a regular civilian car. My Brother Tom told me this story, and I believe him.

While on the "Trans-Bronx Expressway" a tunnel-like roadway sunk between the streets of New York, Tom had a flat tire. It was the WORST possible place to get a flat in the entire WORLD, especially during that lawless era in New York (BR= Before Rudy). Tom pulled over as best as he could and went around the back of the car to get the spare.

Suddenly, he noticed that the HOOD was open. He ran to the front of the car, and there was a man stealing the battery. Tom yelled at him.

The man looked up nonchalantly and said:

"Hey man, I'm only takin' the battery. You can HAVE the tires."

Tom went at him with fists in the air.

"It's MY CAR!!!" he screamed. The man shrugged and ambled away, as if this was an everyday occurrence.

When my husband passed away, Tom drove several of my sisters and brothers and their spouses down to Florida for the funeral. When it was time to go home, he grumbled about the Trans-Bronx Expressway (straight through on I95). I suggested he take the more scenic route, Through the western part of the states, up I81 through Virginia and Pennsylvania, and a straight shot on the Mass Pike to Boston. Although it was a little longer, it was MUCH nicer.

While my sense of direction was flawless, I had forgotten that, in March, the rest of America has this thing called WINTER. Tom took my route, and encountered a huge Blizzard in the Appalachians, adding hours to the journey full of white-knuckle driving. I felt awful that I had steered him wrong. I had done the route many times on the Bike, but NEVER in March.

There are so many mentions of the Holy Spirit in the Book of Acts that this may be a repeat. However, there are new insights to be had with every reading.

While Sunday School maps give us the routes of Paul's Journeys, the Chief Navigator was The Holy Spirit. He "sent" Paul on these trips, and they were never "Express". The Roman Roads were excellent, and Paul often stopped in towns on the way to his destination. There he would preach the Gospel, and sometimes would encounter opposition. In one town, he was hailed as a "god" (NO NO NO!!!!), and another he was slapped into the stocks. Sometimes, the Holy Spirit would lead Paul to skip certain towns, change direction, being accepted in one and rejected in the other.

When I returned to Boston in 2015, it was already late Autumn. My two brothers drove down to Florida, to help me trailer my Harley and few belongings to my Mom's home.

Just for the record, we went straight I95 all the way, including the Trans-Bronx Expressway. BTW, it's a Toll Road, and you have to pay MONEY for this "Culturally Enriching Experience"! 🤔
