“The message of Christianity is being distorted,” claimed Reverend Mariann Edgar Budde, known for her sermon at the Trump Inauguration. In a culture where people seek to reshape the Gospel, we must return to the heart of Jesus — a heart that values, cherishes, and defends life from his or her very beginning.
Her perspective has been gaining traction, suggesting that a Christian can uphold the “spectrum of Life” while supporting a woman’s “right to choose” abortion. As Reverend Budde put it, “I think you can be adherent to the spectrum of Life and still respect a woman’s right to choose her reproductive health, including when to have an abortion in the early stages of pregnancy.”
Does this align with the message of Christ ? No .
To assert that Jesus, who loved children, healed the broken, and had profound compassion for the weak, would support the killing of preborn children is a tragic misunderstanding of his character. Psalm 139 tells us that God knits every life together in the womb. Life, from conception, is precious and purposeful. Jesus’ care for Life extends from its very beginning to its natural end.
“You made all the delicate, inner parts of my body and knit me together in my mother’s womb. Thank you for making me so wonderfully complex! Your workmanship is marvelous—how well I know it. You watched me as I was being formed in utter seclusion, as I was woven together in the dark of the womb. You saw me before I was born. Every day of my life was recorded in your book. Every moment was laid out before a single day had passed.” Psalm 139:13-16
Reverend Budde also noted, “Those who are the most in the Christian spectrum, to be most consistent, would have some very significant things to say about the way we treat our children, the way we face poverty in this country, the way we treat people when they’re imprisoned, the way we treat people at the end of Life.”
Certainly, Christians should care about children after birth, about fighting poverty, reforming justice systems, and showing compassion to those facing difficult circumstances. However, acknowledging these broader issues does not justify the acceptance of abortion. Loving people well means supporting both the mother and her child. We can affirm a woman’s dignity and offer her the compassion and resources she needs without sacrificing the life of her precious baby.
Budde further claimed, “We might have some very interesting conversations about what to do, in what is best for a woman in the early stages of pregnancy.” The answer to these conversations should never involve sacrificing innocent Life. Jesus never asked us to compromise truth for comfort or convenience.
As Christians, we must call one another higher. Following Jesus means standing for truth, even when it’s countercultural.
Join us in prayer for Reverend Mariann Edgar Budde, that God will continuously reveal to her that abortion does not align with his heart. The message of Christ is clear: Every life is sacred, and we are called to protect and cherish that gift, including the precious lives growing in the womb.
40% of people leaving mainline Protestant denominations report they are leaving because of the Liberal Elites in Positions of Power in the Church Hierarchy.
Idiots like this are literally killing their own churches. They are driving people away from Jesus.
Life News was a lot more diplomatic than I would have been. The reverend might be that of the devil, but certainly not of Christ.
I’m surprised her hair color is found in nature. She sounds like a rainbow-head.
America’s Holocaust - 70 million and counting.
Empty churches. In Canada we have the Anglican Church. The synod evicted the believers from a local Anglican Church over the LGBT agenda. Apparently ownership of Anglican Churches belong to the synod not the parish. So now there is a lone “pastor” who has a church with no parishioners.
Warped idiot. First of all she has no inkling as to what Jesus would say about abortion, except in her whacked brain. How this woman can claim to be religious is beyond me.
I have a liberal relative who said that God was for choice because He gives us the option to choose Him or not.
So she supports abortion.
I had no answer for that at the moment, I was so shocked. I do now, but sometimes what passes for reasoning by liberals can blindside you.
You know, there was something to be said for burning witches at the stake.
Hell bound false teacher and heretic!
“You know, there was something to be said for burning witches at the stake.”
I know some witches who are pro life. Yes. “Pagans for life”
She actually gives witches a bad name.
Yikes. The first thing out of my mouth to her would have been, "So I suppose that we should support rape, murder, and cruelty to animals, because those are choices too, you know. Maybe you should narrow your parameters a little."
Of course I thought of the perfect response.......... LATER.
And I’m ready for next time.
Sometimes things are just so shocking at the moment that you don’t know how to respond.
💯.
That’s true.
*****
Stopped reading right there.
Mostly I get shocked at how DUMB otherwise intelligent people can be. I just stand there for a second, not for a lack of response, but not believing someone would actually think such a dumb statement is an intelligent argument.
Her’s is a highway to hell.
5.56mm
She should get down on her knees every night and pray there is no Hell.
Traditional Judaism in time of Jesus considered abortion (Yes, there were abortions even then!) as a kind of murder.
Prohibited by the commandment.
And, since Jesus never stated - “from now on, you can have an abortion”, he obviously agreed with that position.
This woman is a Nutt!
