Pray For The Peace of Jerusalem

Our Father,
We Stand in Awe of Your Majesty.
You Alone Are Worthy of Worship,
For You Alone Are The One True God,
We Look To You For Deliverance,
For You Alone Are Our Peace,
Our Strength and our Song
Our Refuge in Times of Trouble,
Our Rock and Our Redeemer!

You created a beautiful World,
With Everything We Need to sustain us.
We abide in the Shelter of Your Wings!

Let all that has been Concealed
Be Revealed.

Father, We Pray For The Peace Of Jerusalem,
According To Your Will and Promise.
We Pray That You Will Forgive The Sins
of Our Own Nation,
and Lead us all to Godly Repentance.
Create in Us Clean Hearts, Oh LORD,
and Renew a Right Spirit Within Us.

This we Pray Together,
As We Await Your Messiah,
Blessed Be He,
To Set Up His Kingdom,
And Make All Things Right.

โ€The Greatest Of these Is Love.โ€

________________________

A new person in the community and I were chatting about jobs. When I told him I taught Piano, Guitar, Voice, and Bass, he remarked:

"Piano I can understand, but ANYONE can play guitar!"

Feeling somewhat "invalidated", I painstakingly explained that, while a person can get by and play a lot of songs with only four easy chords, there's a LOT more to playing guitar than just THAT. Perhaps he should have said "Anyone can play guitar BADLY."

While I will admit that it's much easier to teach guitar to kids who sing along (instant gratification!), there are other things that make Piano easier to teach. For one thing, the notes are already there, in front of you, in black and white. The guitar presents you with six strings and 23 frets, and a few little dots painted on the neck. You have to find the notes, and make them yourself.

While some kids just want to play chords from a graphic chart, strumming and singing, they are exposed very early to scales and modes, backwards around the Circle of Fifths, Up and Down the Neck. Soon they are "Taking a Solo" over a 12-Bar Blues Sequence.

Now, there are Geniuses who really don't need Lessons. Jimi Hendrix was considered by many to be the Greatest Of All Time, but He played a Right-Handed Guitar, Left-Handed, and he held the Instrument Upside Down. Because of this awkward stance, Jimi had to make up his own Chords and Note Positions. I can't imagine any Teacher trying to cope with that, so I assume that he was totally Self-Taught.

The Opposite Extreme is the Music-School Graduate who knows every Note, Chord, Scale, Mode, and Technique on Guitar, but has ZERO SOUL. Most People would prefer to listen to Jimi than that kind of playing.

My new neighbor got more than he bargained for when he said that "Anybody can play guitar". You might say I was "TRIGGERED" ๐Ÿ˜ฌ

Peter and John had a lot on their hands. Not only were they preaching the Gospel, they were trying to manage the rapidly growing congregation. Since the Gospel preached Mercy and Grace, the growing Church was also involved in "Social Services". Feeding the Hungry, Clothing the Naked, Healing the Sick, and Comforting Those Who Mourn were all mandates from Jesus Himself, which I'm sure Peter and John remembered from the Sermon on the Mount. The most needy among them were the Widows. There were NO Welfare Programs in those days, and Widows and Orphans suffered greatly.

First things First, get a Lunch Program going. Since the early Christians shared what they had, a Food Pantry/Lunch Program was a great idea. Peter and John ran around serving tables while trying to Preach, Teach, Heal, and Study all at the same time.

Even that might have worked out if all the Widows and Orphans were of One Mind and Cooperated. But there were Cultural, Ethnic, and Philosophical differences between them. Some were devout Jews. Others were "Hellenized", meaning they lived a Lifestyle and practiced a Religion that had profound Greek influence. (This Hellenization began during the time of Alexander The Great). There was a natural animosity between these groups and philosophies, and trouble was brewing.

Peter and John had to learn the important Lesson of Delegation. They chose seven young men, on the basis of them being "Full of Wisdom and The Holy Spirit". Imagine having that on your Resume.

These Seven were known as "Deacons" and were originally ordained to wait on the tables, run the Food Pantry, and free the Apostles for Prayer and Evangelism.

However, they did much more than that. Stephen, one of the Seven, did all his duties AND preached the Gospel. He became so effective that he ended up getting arrested.

His Defense of the Gospel astounded the Council, because he hadn't gone to Schools of Rhetoric, nor had a History of Studying with the Sages.

But Stephen had something they didn't have, the Wisdom from The Holy Spirit.

Come and Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem, For Our FRiends in Need, For Persecuted Believers, and For Our Beloved Nation.

โ€ And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. The Greatest Of these Is Love.โ€ (1 Corinthians 13:13 KJV)

Blessings To All Who Visit This Garden of Prayer.

Hallelujah and Amen

Psalm 20

To the leader. A Psalm of David.

1 The Lord answer you in the day of trouble!
The name of the God of Jacob protect you!
2 May he send you help from the sanctuary,
and give you support from Zion.
3 May he remember all your offerings,
and regard with favour your burnt sacrifices.
Selah

4 May he grant you your heartโ€™s desire,
and fulfil all your plans.
5 May we shout for joy over your victory,
and in the name of our God set up our banners.
May the Lord fulfil all your petitions.

6 Now I know that the Lord will help his anointed;
he will answer him from his holy heaven
with mighty victories by his right hand.
7 Some take pride in chariots, and some in horses,
but our pride is in the name of the Lord our God.
8 They will collapse and fall,
but we shall rise and stand upright.

9 Give victory to the king, O Lord;
answer us when we call.*
