I’m having a PET Scan soon and am praying for a clean scan.
I am also having a procedure to check my throat because I have been having a hard time swallowing for over two years now. I’m worried the cancer has progressed or of having a different kind of cancer.

Thank you for the prayers of my brother Bill M.and the Freepers who have reached out to me. He starts treatment tomorrow where they’re going to radiate the lesions on his spine which is causing him great discomfort.
I would also ask that you pray for him to understand and accept our Lord’s will.

My younger brother Bill was recently diagnosed with metastatic cancer in his spine, liver and ribs. Short of a miracle from our Lord, the outlook is not promising.

My COPD has taken a bad turn, and left me pretty much on needing oxygen 24/7.
Nobody is sure why, as I have been really careful about doing as my doctor recommends, but my breathing has become so much worse!
COPD is unfortunately a progressive disease, so things like this are not entirely unexpected, but still..
I would appreciate prayers so that I can at least do some of the things I used to enjoy, without becoming so SOB, that it is frightening.
My COPD has taken a bad turn, and left me pretty much on needing oxygen 24/7.
Nobody is sure why, as I have been really careful about doing as my doctor recommends, but my breathing has become so much worse!
COPD is unfortunately a progressive disease, so things like this are not entirely unexpected, but still..
I’ve been also been struggling with the return of my back pain and a thyroid condition.

MIRACLE UPDATE (2/3/25)
My friend's husband said she had a visit from the Holy Spirit. Nothing in the lymph nodes, liver, heart valve, etc. Said there was no need to do a biopsy of her liver. Both hospitals had thought she had cancer. She had a vision of water coming over her and then a bright light. She and all of us are giving God the Glory!!!!
Please remember her husband who has A-Fib. Believing in a miraculous healing for him also.

BIG UPDATE: (1/29/25)
I spent four years working as a mental health professional. I loved it immensely. There was not a single day that I wasn't going in and helping people in need. It was a job that had me wearing many hats. It was a job that I could have spent the rest of my life doing and be happy.
Then came the economic downturn. And despite my best efforts to keep my head above water I had to leave my dream job. That was just over two years ago.
What followed after that was a series of jobs that paid okay but were unreliable. Among others: I spent two days substitute teaching at a high school. On the second day during chemistry class I remarked that because of sodium's one valence electron it combusts when exposed to water. Which, it does.
This got to the principal and he had me dismissed on the grounds that I was teaching the kids how to manufacture high explosives.
Well, it's been hanging on by my fingernails, and I've had to be relying on help from others to stay afloat, to pay the rent and have food. I'm not only providing for myself, there is my dog too. I promised my father as he was dying that I would always take care of her, and I've tried my best to do that. Some years ago she and I spent a year traveling across America. I've tried to give her a good life.
I started a job this past June, in the food service industry with a fairly major company. I was doing very good too. The management raved about how great I was. And then they started cutting hours on everybody. I watched my assigned hours steadily dwindle until a month and a half ago when there stopped being any hours at all.
Panic set in. Worry. Anxiety. Utter fear. I had already been looking for a better job but kept coming up empty. And I've wondered if age (I'm 50) or my ethnicity has had anything to do with it. I was DESPERATE for honest work that would let me provide for me and my dog.
A few weeks ago I spotted a position advertised on Indeed. I applied for it. Much to my surprise they contacted me for an interview. Before it started I prayed, and asked God to be with me and that if this wasn't what He wanted for me, to please provide a job soon.
The interview was supposed to have lasted no more than 30 minutes. Mine went to 45. And I must have nailed it because a few days later they offered me the job! I very gladly and thankfully accepted.
There was one problem though. Paid training would start almost a month away. And I had no income to live on until then.
Good friends and family pitched in. People I NEVER want to cease being thankful for. Their help has sustained me. But I still needed more funds to use toward rent, and some utilities that were going to be shut off. And some other things.
For the past several days I haven't slept, so wrought with worry that I've been. I just couldn't see how God was going to be able to provide this time. The new job starts five days from now. The first paycheck is over a week after that. I had only enough money for some food, and not for anything more than that.
This morning I got a call from the phone company, telling me to pay my bill immediately or it would be disconnected. I was able to talk them down into letting me make a small payment, and that was eighty bucks gone. There was nothing left for me. I'd come to the end of my rope and could see nothing past that. Finally, out of extreme desperation, I went to my bedroom and got on my knees at my bedside and begged God to please provide something. I really poured my heart out to Him, like I hadn't done in a very long time. Had there been no issues with medication I would probably have burst into tears. And for the worst moment I wondered what good were my prayers at all.
Then, like a soft still voice spoken to my heart, I hear something...
"Don't worry. Do not be afraid. I've got this."
Its so wild, but after that my heart felt at peace. For the first time in weeks the anxiety lifted. I felt almost like a whole new man.
Well, a few hours later... help came. And LOTS of it. Some people heard of my plight and chipped in. They donated more than enough to cover all the rent due next week, plus a few other expenses.
God has indeed provided! And He used some very remarkable people to do it through. My dog and I are going to get through to the first paycheck with no foreseeable problems. Our home is safe. We aren't going to lose power. We aren't going to starve.
At least twice more today I've been on my knees again, thanking God for his providing for us.
Like I said, the new job starts next week. And it will perhaps be the best one I've ever had. It involves working with autistic children, helping them come to communicate better. It is going to be helping people again just as I did at the mental health department. I plan to go to work on Monday morning as eager as anyone has ever been about starting a new job.
Maybe God needed me to go through the past two years practically impoverished. Perhaps He needed to teach me how to be more thankful for the blessings I've already had. And also to be more grateful to the people He has brought into my life who care for me.
So, a new job starts next week. One that will be personally rewarding and let me not have to worry about my financial situation. The rent will be paid and there is enough funding to get my dog and I through the next two weeks.
And I am so overwhelmed with being thankful that I have literally trembled at it.
Scripture urges us to share our needs with each other, and to rejoice together when God has done a great thing. Today, God did that. And I just had to share that.
Very special thanks to everyone who has lifted my dog and I up in prayer these past many months :-)

Requesting Prayers for My Wife (Debra) of 14 years She is going to be having a Heart Valve replacement surgery tomorrow Thursday 01/30/2025.
We have been told that She will be coming Home on Friday 01/31/2025.
I'm obviously worried, concerned and anxious about the situation but trying not to show it.
She worked in the Cardiac Unit back when She was in Erie, PA years ago and is acting like it's no big deal.

(1/08/25 On Saturday afternoon I lost 1/2 of the vision in my right eye from a branch retinal artery occlusion.
According to what my eye doctor, it is highly unlikely the vision will return. I would be totally without hope we’re it not for my faith in Jesus Christ. Even as tears stream down my face, I have chosen faith in my Savior.

UPDATE (1/5/2025) 3 broken ribs and a pelvic fracture. There was a bleeder caused by the pelvic fracture but they nipped that in the bud, thank you very much.
The pelvic fractures do not require corrective surgery.>p> All in all, for an 86 year old guy who just got T-boned that’s as well as can be expected.

PRAYERS NEEDED FOR MY MOTHER

My mom has been suffering some sort of nerve issue in her leg to the point that she cannot even walk right now and was in extraordinary pain up until about last weekend. It's not fun watching your mom cry from pain!
Since Thanksgiving, we've had an ER visit, a doctor's visit, and an orthopedic urgent care visit. A CT scan and two sets of X-rays. They've had her on two different muscle relaxers, a NSAID and a round of steroids and nothing was working. Want to know what finally started to work?
A red light therapy boot that I bought for my twisted ankle (the worst pain traveled from her hip down into her foot) and 5 homeopathic pellets every 4-5 hours (Rhus Tox 200c). Today was the first day she has been able to walk across the room without a walker since Thanksgiving.
I suspect it's a sciatica issue, but we couldn't get an appointment with a spine specialist until after the new year.
I have been driving an hour each way across the valley to take care of her and am exhausted.

UPDATE 12/19/24
Natalie came home today. She still has the severe ptsd, but we have some hope. Her ocd and ruminating part of the brain showed some positive movement because of the electromagnetic impulsing.
She is able to keep this treatment going up here, and my theory is that once her brain stops ruminating, then the ptsd will have to subside, as it’s the constant fearful thoughts that are keeping her terrified.
She seems to be in much better spirits being back home. We had a fun and happy evening with her decorating the tree, and she made some beautiful charcuterie boards.

UPDATE: (11/19/2024) Praise Report: Son #1 did not, after all, require a second cardiac stent. Upon undergoing a second stress test, he was cleared. Doc said the confusion resulted most likely because he took longer than expected to heal from the first stent.

Son #4 is dealing with debilitating rheumatoid arthritis, and in December he will undergo radiofrequency ablation in hopes of alleviating some of his back pain.

Granddaughter Scarrlett needs prayers. She is 5 months old, and not gaining weight on formula - . About the same, at 5 months she is not gaining weight on formula and is still not a normal baby.
Broken wrist clean break is healed, 1 round of TP, hand is improving, but will need a 2nd round. Praise God it was not worse..

I am reaching out for your prayers and support to cover my younger brother George’s mounting medical bills as we work to bring him home safely after a tragic accident in Greece. Without insurance, every expense for his urgent surgery, therapy, and extended hospital stay has been out-of-pocket, and we need help to continue his care and recovery.
He is in Athens Greece now out of the ER ward..
had a bone graft surgery...and another surgury..
.Moved to a Rehab facility with exercise machines ..
.but his muscles atrophied with a months in coma ..
.can shuffle a couple of steps to get onto a wheel chair.

I need to lose a lot of weight. I’m haunted by my past and am now the only member of my immediate family left. Having lost my last sibling, I’m the Last Mohican and can’t get out of bed often due to depression.
I have a lot of things to do for the remaining estate. I also gave up my talent long ago, owing to extreme pressure by my first spouse, costing me my self-esteem.

I'll make this short and to the point. I am requesting prayers for my wife Sharee. The doctors found a mass on her pancreas and liver. She has 2 appointments scheduled, one for a CT Guided liver biopsy, and another one for an Endoscopic Ultrasound to get a biopsy and closer image of her pancreas. As of now the doctors believe she has cancer, but they need these tests done to be sure. Her appointments on Nov 21st, and Nov 26th.
My wife is 55, and as many already know she is a paraplegic. We were in a car accident back in 1987 and she has been in a wheelchair ever since, because she severed her spine at the T-6 level. Please keep her in your prayers that the tests will show the masses are benign. If she has cancer, please pray that God will heal her.
I will keep my FReeper profile updated with information as things progress, which I pray all goes well.

Update: (11/17/24) Team of Drs. met and determined NOT to do the Prognostic Test as scheduled for Tues.... ‘Praise the Lord’ ....instead they want to wait 3 months and do another Cat scan and see how things look at that time.
This is such a great relief and I can handle waiting another 3 months.....this is Gods doing and an answer to prayers. His name is greatly to be praised!

UPDATE: (11/11/24)
First time back in my basement office since June. It is been a long slog. The Whipple itself was fine, but a "complication" in the form of a nicked renal artery spoiled an otherwise well executed Whipple.
I bled significant amount of blood into my abdomen before a CT scan spotted the origin of the bleed and "interventional radiology" performed an embolization of the "leak". 10 transfusions followed to get enough blood circulating to keep me alive. The pools of blood in my abdomen required drains for a period of months and pressure from the blood hampered the Whipple recovery.
In the midst of all that, I contracted an MRSA pneumonia and required weeks of IV vancomycin to clear it. I'm finally building back muscle lost to atrophy from being in a hospital bed too long.
I'm still tethered to a naso-jejunal feeding tube supplying 1800 calories per day. I eat regular food now that it can pass from stomach to jejunum. The Whipple really didn't get to "functional" until mid-August when the first food finally passed though. I'm thankful to be approaching "normal" again. Planning to resume full time employment on Nov 25th.

Dennis has a spinal cord injury and is unable to move. He has not sustained any cognitive damage and hopefully he will recover his ability to speak. Lastly, it sounds like he’s getting the best possible care and treatment.

PRAY that President Trump and Tucker Carlson physically VISIT western North Carolina (Chimney Rock, Burnsville< and the area around that hospital in Erwin where those women at Impact Plastics died)...repairing that kind of destruction is right in President Trump’s wheelhouse, but he needs to SEE it...not just Asheville.
I drove down the interstate for the first time since it was reopened by Impact Plastics...the piles of debris are a real horror show, but it will be swept under the rug.

I am asking for prayers for my baby brother Mike. Our hometown is Newport Tn and the floods have caused massive problems. In the midst of this my brother has entered the hospital with renal failure and sepsis and things are touch and go. The hospital is having to truck in water to operate in this crisis. There are a lot of people suffering during this time so while praying for them I ask you to remember my brother and family as well. Thanks for all you do, Freerepublic is still the best place to be.

I returned to the scene of where my house USED to be yesterday...OMG. They were burning huge piles of debris (my home and my possessions) on and next to the closed interstate.
I ran into a woman who had served in the Middle East...she said the scene looked WORSE than Beirut. It was surreal. Prayer is certainly needed…
My wife is Type-1 diabetic, her insulin pump was swept away, and it was a NIGHTWARE getting her back ‘online’, as we had lost her settings, and her endo is in ASHEVILLE, with no way to communicate with her. Fortunately, we were able to locate a diabetes counselor who was an expert in working with brand of pump. (God is wonderful.) This whole situation is why I am up at 4:20 posting on FR.
Governor Lee, Senator Blackburn, and Congresswoman Harshbarger were doing a press conference just a few yards from where my home used to be...the usual political blather that the media types just drool over. Useless.
Best assets for victims are good old CASH (so individuals can make the decision as to what they need...VISA gift cards and such...avoid company-specific gift cards, keep financial support as liquid as possible.) Best charity is probably Samaritan’s Purse. Dr. Graham’s homebase of Boone, NC was trashed. Red Cross and other high-profile charities are generally t*ts on a boar. FEMA?

She is doing better. She has healed from the broken leg, and my sister says she is doing better at the memory care center she is in. She still requires constant watch, but that is being provided by the capable staff. Thank you.

It’s been a terrible year. If it’s not a curse, it’s God Himself trying to tell me something ;)
As for the latest, the 3 tendons on the back of my hand that were cut are healing somewhat. Since June 11 I haven’t been able to use that, my right hand, for very much at all. No grip, no strength. Still swollen. Surgery just about 2 months ago now, I’m getting terrifically impatient and despondent over not being able to do my usual things.
As for the emergency hernia that happened - what? 5 days after hand surgery? - I had a spigelian hernia, no idea how or when but all of the sudden it was THERE. From 0 to 160 in 10 minutes. Wow, the pain.
So, the wonderful surgeon came in and opened me like a can of sardines at 3 AM on a Sunday morning, and after an initial 2 weeks of not doing very well, THAT is healing magnificently. The scar is about 8-10 inches but most of the bruising is gone. I still can’t actually look at it.
Before we knew what it was and before the morphine and fentanyl kicked in, I asked Dahoser to not only post for prayers on FR but I made him baptize me, too. Some kind of glacier water right outta the machine - I hope God doesn’t mind.
(now, although I do profess to be a born again evangelical I have yet to be properly baptized. Just haven’t found a church that does living, running water baptisms and I never thought the fish tank kind were very hygienic or proper).
And so that’s it for my surgical updates. I am surely better than I deserve but I wish I was a bit better than that.
Aside from all that, Dahoser is still only working a very cheap contract and we need a full time job with health insurance. It’s good to have the paycheck from the contract but that will be ending soon and we may end up living in our cars. At least we have 2 of them :)
Oy. Can you tell I haven’t been out of the house much in 3 months?? Dang I need some real life people, too.

I’m still in a holding pattern. None of the disability requests have been approved, and I don’t think they will. The VA has gone so low as to call me a liar and say none of my disabilities are severe enough to warrant compensation.
As such, I had to file for bankruptcy. So once that is discharged and I can save some money I’m going to get out next spring (more than likely) and try and search out a new place to call home.
But suffice to say, the government agency that is supposed to be looking out for its constituency, the VA/veterans, has let me down.
Good evening Freepers.
I wanted to share a few prayer requests with you. I don't normally post things like this for me as I try to keep some aspects of my life close to the chest, but I wanted to share these as they continue to be things that I am dealing with, some of them for quite some time.
First off, Long Covid. As many of you know, I retired from my job in Apr 23 because of Long Covid. I was infected with Covid 19 in February 2022, but in Nov 22 I developed Long Covid. I initially recovered from Covid and was on my way to what I thought was a full recovery when Long Covid hit me, and hard. Nov 2022 to Apr 2023 were very difficult months, and Long Covid has stayed with me since then, and although it's not quite as bad as it was, I'm still disabled. What I got hit with was a combination of chronic fatigue, extreme nausea, insomnia and dizziness/confusion. While the fatigue and nausea are not as bad, I still suffer with all of those symptoms. It's only by pacing myself, resting and eating very bland foods that I am able to get by. And that leads me to my next request.
Second, Insomnia. That aspect of my condition has been extremely rough. From Nov 22 to Apr 23 I was taking a fist full of drugs in order to sleep. I did not put in a full day’s work that entire timeframe because of the Long Covid, and not being to get a good night’s rest made things worse. Even though I was taking those drugs my days were still hard to get through. It’s a good thing I had over 400 hours of sick leave. It came in very handy.
When I finally retired I tried to get myself off those drugs but it proved very difficult. I was basically addicted to them by that point and trying to go “cold turkey” was not a good idea. It wasn't until late December that I finally hit upon a game plan to get rid of the sleep meds but it's taking this long to play out.
With the assistance of a VA counselor helping me with my insomnia, I was able to reduce my intake over the months until, just this week, I finally stopped taking the sleep drug, Temazepam/Restoril, altogether. When I started taking that medication, I was taking 30 MG capsules. I was able to reduce that to 22.5 MG by Nov/Dec 23, then to 15 MG in Jan 24, then 7.5 MG since March. Just a couple of days ago I stopped taking it altogether. But it wasn't without assistance from the VA counselor helping me modifying my sleep patterns that I was able to do so. He’s also had me keep a diary to chronicle the entire process. HOWEVER, I now have to give my body time to adjust and hopefully get my sleeping pattern on track again. With each reduction in medication it normally takes about two months to re-regulate my sleep.
Third, Retirement. Since I retired I've been trying to get various aspects of my retirement in order, but there have been bumps along the way.
OPM had to adjust my retirement because they didn't calculate it correctly when retired in Apr 23. It took about two months but it finally got fixed. However, I was short changed in that my retirement pay is $200 less than I was quoted before I retired. The GRB website the government uses was not accurate in how it calculated my retirement. I come to find out that I did not have 30 years of total government service, but instead had 26 years and 8 months. They neglected to tell me that almost 4 years of temporary employment didn't count towards my time. GRRRRRRRR.
Social Security and VA disabilities were applied for.
SS denied my in February of this year, after a wait of over 6 months, and I hired a SS disability lawyer to appeal my case. It's ongoing.
The VA is another matter entirely, and honestly, I am extremely angry at the VA because they continue to deny appeals to get my disability claims approved. For instance, even though they now admit that military service caused hearing loss and tinnitus, they won't overturn their previous denial from 2006. The lawyers I hired to file the appeals have received three denials since summer last year. So in addition to being denied in 2006 and 2011, that's now five total denials on that one condition alone. And there are others.
The lawyers are trying to figure out what to do next, but I know what I want to do, and that is fire off a letter to the VA expressing my anger. The department in the VA that deals with disability claims no longer works for the veteran. They actively work against them, and I really want to express my outrage to them.
Retirement location. I really need to move from where I am. The housing I’m in is old military housing and is not in good shape. I would like to move to better housing but of course housing, whether one rents or owns, is priced through the roof. If either, or both, of the disability claims get approved I'll bring in more funds, but I could be waiting for several months, if not a few years, for that to happen. I am on a waiting list for senior apartments in West Lafayette, IN. That location would be ideal because I would be real close to my daughter, but the waiting list is extremely long and it could be years before there is an open unit. I’ve been trying to locate other places to move to but it’s difficult to get out since Long Covid reduces my endurance, and Google Maps doesn’t do a good job in keeping its database updated.
Whew, that took longer than I anticipated to type out. I know that is a lot to take in, but those are the areas I really need prayer for. I appreciate the time you took to read all that. Thank you and God bless you all.

My niece has Gastroparesis, it’s a slow digestive disorder, I went through the same thing years ago. It is totally diet-controlled. The 1 med is useless. Supplements, eat simple, no hulls, peels, or seeds.
I’ve already told her what to do, she just has to be patient and start slow. Doctors sent her home on a liquid diet. Down to 95 lbs. I hit 108.
The coatings on fruits are making people sick. And you can’t wash them off, Gates crap. Apeel or Peelz. Handle with surgery gloves.
