Our Father in Heaven
We Worship Your Holy Name!

In the Antique Business, there is a category called "Ephemera". This is a distinct category that is similar to that of "Rare Books". Ephemera consists of Letters, Historic Documents, Receipts, Bills, Notes and other very perishable paper products, that once belonged to a Famous Person, or sheds light on a Historic Event. An example of Ephemera would be the (hypothetical) receipt for George Washington's False Teeth. The "Good Deeds" Thrift Store I frequent has a large collection of Ephemera, as they do Clean-Outs, and give the profits of the store to a different Charity every month. I used to collect Ephemera, and actually had a Letter from a Civil War Soldier writing home during the Peninsula Campaign. (Ironically, he was sure that the War would be over in a few weeks. It wasn't). Ephemera has to be preserved properly, or it will just oxidize and disintegrate. That's why it's called "Ephemera"!

In two weeks, this Thread will be 15 years old. From Day One, I've tried to provide relevant Illustrations to accompany the text. Back in the day, it was possible to create images, put text on them, and store them on a photo-sharing website. My favorite was "tinypic". On that lovely little site, I was able to upload my own photos, manipulate the image, and caption it with the Scripture Verse of the day. Since I would make enough images each day to accommodate all the people who responded to the Thread, I soon ended up with 17,000 (not a typo) images stored on the site. For Psalm 119, I had a whole category of images based upon the Letters in the Hebrew Alphabet. Those were so much fun. One day, I received a notice from the site announcing that it was shutting down. They advised me to save the pictures I wanted, because afterwards, they would be gone forever. There was no way I could save 17,000 pictures, so I just grabbed the personal family photos and let the rest go. Our Late Friend, ConorMacNessa(RIP) used to do the same thing with Photobucket. Some of his creative work still exists on this site, but a lot of it is also gone. Pixels are even more ephemeral than paper.

Lately I've noticed that, in searching for illustrations for this site, I am struck by the fact that, although they are lovely to look at, they all look alike! Whether the Image is for Old or New Testament, Happy Verses or Sad Ones, Prophecy or Narrative, they all use the same type of Magnificent nature Photography: Sunsets, Seashores, Mountains, Flowers, etc. It occurred to me that these images are all generated by AI. It seems that there is more "A" and a lot less "I" in theses images. I may have to use more clever Key Words when I do my morning search!

It would seem to me, that as things become more convenient, they become less creative. Life is full of Inconvenience, but it is in those moments of need and confusion that we need Inspiration from The Holy Spirit. Job was a lot more than "inconvenienced" by his immense suffering. Yet, even in his darkest hours, he realized that The Holy Spirit was there, providing Inspiration. Elihu, the fourth of Job's "friends" is the last to show up with his own "two cents". Much of it is rebuking Job's other three "friends" for presuming to know the Mind of God. Yet, Elihu makes the same mistake. Finally, God Himself intervenes and sets them ALL straight.

"Inspiration" is a Gift from The Holy Spirit. It implies wisdom and creativity being breathed in by God. God is doing the breathing. That's why it's not called "Inhaling". Inhaling is done by the person. Inspiration is done by the Holy Spirit.

What is inhaled must be exhaled, but what is "Inspired" produces fruit.

And that's NOT just "Ephemera".
