Pray For The Peace of Jerusalem (1/3/25)[Prayer]

Names and Titles of God the Holy Spirit
(Spirit of Grace and Supplication) Zechariah 12:10

10 And I will pour upon the house of David, and upon the inhabitants of Jerusalem, the spirit of grace and of supplications: and they shall look upon me whom they have pierced, and they shall mourn for him, as one mourneth for his only son, and shall be in bitterness for him, as one that is in bitterness for his firstborn.

King James Version

Pray For The Peace of Jerusalem

Almighty God,
Hallowed Be Your Name!
How we love to sing Your Praises,
To Lift Up Your Holy Name in Worship,
For You Alone are Worthy of Praise.
For You are Holy, Righteous and Just,
And Glorious in Majesty!
You Alone Are The One True God.
Perfect in All Your Ways
Ancient of Days,
King of Kings,
And Lord of Lords!
And we love You with Our Whole heart, mind and Strength!

Let all that has been Concealed
Be Revealed.

Father, We Pray For The Peace Of Jerusalem,
According To Your Will and Promise.
We Pray That You Will Forgive The Sins
of Our Own Nation,
and Lead us all to Godly Repentance.
Create in Us Clean Hearts, Oh LORD,
and Renew a Right Spirit Within Us.

This we Pray Together,
As We Await Your Messiah,
Blessed Be He,
To Set Up His Kingdom,
And Make All Things Right.

Happy New Year!

If you would like to be on or off the Daily Ping List, please let me know.

Just a few days ago I was listening to "Talk Radio" (I think it was "Clay and Buck"), and the host said something very interesting. He opined that the Three Most Important Words in a Marriage are not necessarily "I Love You", as sometimes that phrase can be used to manipulate and obfuscate. No, he argued, the most important Three Words in a Relationship are:

"I WAS WRONG"".

It's harder to say than "I Love You", and probably much more effective.

One of the most difficult aspects of the Christian Faith is the issue of Forgiveness. We all like being forgiven, and most of us feel good forgiving others IF the ask for it. Reconciliation is one of the most beautiful experience, and is the subject of Art, Music, Movies, and so on. Reconciliation gets a kick-start when the offender says "I Was Wrong." If that phrase is followed by "I'm so sorry. Can you forgive me?", it is nearly impossible for a person to refuse forgiveness. This is especially true if the offended person is a Christian, since it is a tenet of Our Faith to Forgive. The problem arises when the offender refuses to repent. Then the Christian isn't given the opportunity to forgive, leaving a root of bitterness that does more harm to the offended person than it does to the offender.

The word "Repentance" comes from the Hebrew word "T'shuvah" which means "to change direction". It also means to "Return (home)". The story of the Prodigal Son is a perfect example of "T'shuvah".

The New Testament is in Greek, and gives us another aspect of Repentance. The word is "Metanoia", and means "To change your mind". What you thought was OK before, is now abhorrent.

That still doesn't address the dilemma of forgiving the unrepentant. If God doesn't forgive the unrepentant, why should I? Here is a little something I wrote a few years ago about that very thing:

"We have talked about the difficulty in forgiving others when the offender doesn't even think he has done anything wrong. It is a dilemma, because our inner sense of justice demands some kind of resolution. And there's that person, thinking everything is just hunky-dorey, while YOU struggle with forgiving someone who has NOT repented! Then, every time you say the Lord's Prayer, and come to that part "as we forgive those who have trespassed against us", it brings the whole issue up again because you REALLY want to do the right thing...but it's SO hard!

In times like that, it is helpful to look at the two greatest examples of Forgiveness in the New Testament: Jesus on the Cross, and St. Stephen being stoned to death. Both of them said nearly the same thing:

"Father, Forgive Them..."

Both Jesus and Stephen RELEASED the offender to The FATHER for forgiveness. Since God is Omniscient, He knows EXACTLY how you feel, and precisely the depth of the wrong that was done to you. He is also the Righteous Judge, and has not one shred of darkness or duplicity. Therefore, only He can Judge Rightly and Only He can Forgive.

Being sinners ourselves, we may have to "release the offender:" to the Father more than once, but at least we are following the example of Christ and Stephen.

It's VERY Liberating."

In Today's Scripture Passage, The Holy Spirit is described as "The Spirit of Grace and Supplication". Never let it be said that Grace and The Holy Spirit are only in The New Testament! Here is The Prophet Zechariah speaking of the Incredible Grace of God being poured out onto Israel. Times are really difficult right now, and it's hard to imagine that happening, but here it is.

Come and Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem, For Our FRiends in Need, For Persecuted Believers, and For Our Beloved Nation.

For whatever is hidden is meant to be disclosed, and whatever is concealed is meant to be brought out into the open. (Mark 4:22)

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Blessings To All Who Visit This Garden of Prayer.

Hallelujah and Amen

Psalm 24

Of David. A Psalm.

1 The earth is the Lord’s and all that is in it,
the world, and those who live in it;
2 for he has founded it on the seas,
and established it on the rivers.

3 Who shall ascend the hill of the Lord?
And who shall stand in his holy place?
4 Those who have clean hands and pure hearts,
who do not lift up their souls to what is false,
and do not swear deceitfully.
5 They will receive blessing from the Lord,
and vindication from the God of their salvation.
6 Such is the company of those who seek him,
who seek the face of the God of Jacob.*
Selah

7 Lift up your heads, O gates!
and be lifted up, O ancient doors!
that the King of glory may come in.
8 Who is the King of glory?
The Lord, strong and mighty,
the Lord, mighty in battle.
9 Lift up your heads, O gates!
and be lifted up, O ancient doors!
that the King of glory may come in.
10 Who is this King of glory?
The Lord of hosts,
he is the King of glory.
Selah
