Pray For The Peace of Jerusalem (12/29/24)[Prayer]

Names and Titles of God the Holy Spirit
(Advocate) Job 16:19-21

19 Also now, behold, my witness is in heaven, and my record is on high.

20 My friends scorn me: but mine eye poureth out tears unto God.

21 O that one might plead for a man with God, as a man pleadeth for his neighbour!

Pray For The Peace of Jerusalem

Our Father,
Who Art in Heaven,
How Wonderful and Magnificent is Your Most Holy Name!
For You Alone Are Worthy,
You Alone Are Holy,
You Alone Are The Most High!
Thank You For Your Faithfulness,
And providing For Us Even Before We Ask.
Thank You For Your Clear Guidance,
And for Your Beautiful Miracles.

Let all that has been Concealed
Be Revealed.

Father, We Pray For The Peace Of Jerusalem,
According To Your Will and Promise.
We Pray That You Will Forgive The Sins
of Our Own Nation,
and Lead us all to Godly Repentance.
Create in Us Clean Hearts, Oh LORD,
and Renew a Right Spirit Within Us.

This we Pray Together,
As We Await Your Messiah,
Blessed Be He,
To Set Up His Kingdom,
And Make All Things Right.

Merry Christmas!

A few weeks ago, I read the last line in Song of Solomon, and, with a sigh, moved my poetry bookmark to the first "Poetry" Book in the Old Testament, the Book of Job.

It's hard going from the tender, romantic language of Song of Solomon to the obnoxious lectures of Job's self-righteous "friends", but that's just the way it happens with my four OT Bookmarks: Torah, History, Poetry, and Prophets.

While much of the "friends' expositions sound pious and righteous, they are not at all comforting to Job. Jesus told us to "Weep with those who weep" and to comfort those who mourn. The worst thing one can do to a grieving person is to give them a lecture as to WHY they are afflicted (It's Your OWN FAULT!")

Job's alleged friends are NOT role models, and God throws the book at them in the final chapters.

We can, however, derive inspiration from some of Job's responses to their nonsense. Some of his declarations appear in Handel's Messiah: I Know That My Redeemer Liveth", and in popular hymns: I Know That My Redeemer Lives. There are more, but I think you get the point.

Today's quote from Job shows his longing for an Advocate in Heaven. In his heart, Job knows He is there making intercession with the Father on his behalf. He doesn't just believe this, he KNOWS it.

Job isn't perfect. God is quick to point that out in the final chapters. But Job has something his "friends" don't have. For all their religious pronouncements, they never once speak of a relationship with the Almighty. In their minds, such a thing is impossible. And yet, here is Job, speaking of God Himself as Advocate, Intercessor, and Redeemer. Job knows something his "friends" don't.

Come and Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem, For Our FRiends in Need, For Persecuted Believers, and For Our Beloved Nation.

For whatever is hidden is meant to be disclosed, and whatever is concealed is meant to be brought out into the open. (Mark 4:22)

MERRY CHRISTMAS!

Psalm 9

To the leader: according to Muth-labben. A Psalm of David.

1 I will give thanks to the Lord with my whole heart;
I will tell of all your wonderful deeds.
2 I will be glad and exult in you;
I will sing praise to your name, O Most High.

3 When my enemies turned back,
they stumbled and perished before you.
4 For you have maintained my just cause;
you have sat on the throne giving righteous judgement.

5 You have rebuked the nations, you have destroyed the wicked;
you have blotted out their name for ever and ever.
6 The enemies have vanished in everlasting ruins;
their cities you have rooted out;
the very memory of them has perished.

7 But the Lord sits enthroned for ever,
he has established his throne for judgement.
8 He judges the world with righteousness;
he judges the peoples with equity.

9 The Lord is a stronghold for the oppressed,
a stronghold in times of trouble.
10 And those who know your name put their trust in you,
for you, O Lord, have not forsaken those who seek you.

11 Sing praises to the Lord, who dwells in Zion.
Declare his deeds among the peoples.
12 For he who avenges blood is mindful of them;
he does not forget the cry of the afflicted.

13 Be gracious to me, O Lord.
See what I suffer from those who hate me;
you are the one who lifts me up from the gates of death,
14 so that I may recount all your praises,
and, in the gates of daughter Zion,
rejoice in your deliverance.

15 The nations have sunk in the pit that they made;
in the net that they hid has their own foot been caught.
16 The Lord has made himself known, he has executed judgement;
the wicked are snared in the work of their own hands.
Higgaion. Selah

17 The wicked shall depart to Sheol,
all the nations that forget God.

18 For the needy shall not always be forgotten,
nor the hope of the poor perish for ever.

19 Rise up, O Lord! Do not let mortals prevail;
let the nations be judged before you.
20 Put them in fear, O Lord;
let the nations know that they are only human.
Selah
