Pray For The Peace of Jerusalem

Blessed Are You,
Oh LORD,
Our God,
King of the Universe,
Ancient of Days,
Our Rock and Our Redeemer!
You Alone Are Worthy of Praise,
For You Alone Are Worthy; You Alone Are Holy;
You Alone Are Righteous and Just;
And You Alone Are The One True God of The Universe,
How Wonderful Are Your Precepts;
How Precious Is Your WORD,
How Eternal and Sure Are Your Promises!

Let all that has been Concealed
Be Revealed.

Father, We Pray For The Peace Of Jerusalem,
According To Your Will and Promise.
We Pray That You Will Forgive The Sins
of Our Own Nation,
and Lead us all to Godly Repentance.
Create in Us Clean Hearts, Oh LORD,
and Renew a Right Spirit Within Us.

This we Pray Together,
As We Await Your Messiah,
Blessed Be He,
To Set Up His Kingdom,
And Make All Things Right.

God Bless America.

I have two students who are siblings, and have been studying piano with me for three years. Both show an innate ability, but have so many activities (football, baseball, soccer, sailing, ballet, Tai Kwon Do, Swim Team, "Ninja School", and whatever, so neither of them practice as much as they should. The brother has switched from piano to guitar, and, if he actually practiced, could be an awesome guitar player.This frustrates their Dad so much, as he is an ardent music-lover.

The Dad, who was born and raised in India, studied Indian Classical Music under a Disciple of the Famous Sitar Player Ravi Shankar (It was Shankar that taught George Harrison of the Beatles how to play that enigmatic instrument). He related to me the brutal practice schedule imposed upon him during his teenage years, playing the same scale for hours on end while all his school friends were out playing soccer. At this point in time, he doesn't even own a sitar and hasn't played for years.

A few months ago he purchased an electric bass guitar online and asked for lessons. I had to approach this carefully, as Bass requires a lot of scales and modes, as well as a lot of repetition to developer strength and technique. I didn't want a rehash of his Sitar years to ruin the experience for him.

It turns out that he loves playing the bass, and loves practicing, using my program! He's getting good at it too.

Just last week I saw a real sitar at the local thrift store. It needs work, and the only guy who fixes them is in New York. I told my student about it....and he's going to go check it out. If he likes it, I will make the purchase for him because I'll get the Senior Citizen Discount!

Today's Scripture Passage tells us that the Holy Spirit is our Ultimate Teacher. Spiritual matters can't be discerned with logic, book-learning, or even endless practice. As my Student found out, rigid practicing to the detriment of life-experience might produce a technical wonder, but at what price? Music has to be more than just mere technique.

I've seen people who consider themselves "religious" memorize vast portions of their holy books without spiritually discerning the meaning. Muslims even have a word for someone who has memorized the entire Koran, and can recite it back to you. In my own Biblical Faith, there are persons who can quote the Bible chapter and verse, but who have no compassion or love in their words.

Just as endless scales and exercises aren't "music", neither are words without the Spirit.

The Holy Spirit is the Best Teacher there is for the things that are Spiritual in Nature.

Come and Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem, For Our FRiends in Need, For Persecuted Believers, and For Our Beloved Nation.

For whatever is hidden is meant to be disclosed, and whatever is concealed is meant to be brought out into the open. (Mark 4:22)

God Bless America.

Blessings To All Who Visit This Garden of Prayer.

Hallelujah and Amen

Psalm 34

Of David, when he feigned madness before Abimelech, so that he drove him out, and he went away.

1 I will bless the Lord at all times;
his praise shall continually be in my mouth.
2 My soul makes its boast in the Lord;
let the humble hear and be glad.
3 O magnify the Lord with me,
and let us exalt his name together.

4 I sought the Lord, and he answered me,
and delivered me from all my fears.
5 Look to him, and be radiant;
so your* faces shall never be ashamed.
6 This poor soul cried, and was heard by the Lord,
and was saved from every trouble.
7 The angel of the Lord encamps
around those who fear him, and delivers them.
8 O taste and see that the Lord is good;
happy are those who take refuge in him.
9 O fear the Lord, you his holy ones,
for those who fear him have no want.
10 The young lions suffer want and hunger,
but those who seek the Lord lack no good thing.

11 Come, O children, listen to me;
I will teach you the fear of the Lord.
12 Which of you desires life,
and covets many days to enjoy good?
13 Keep your tongue from evil,
and your lips from speaking deceit.
14 Depart from evil, and do good;
seek peace, and pursue it.

15 The eyes of the Lord are on the righteous,
and his ears are open to their cry.
16 The face of the Lord is against evildoers,
to cut off the remembrance of them from the earth.
17 When the righteous cry for help, the Lord hears,
and rescues them from all their troubles.
18 The Lord is near to the broken-hearted,
and saves the crushed in spirit.

19 Many are the afflictions of the righteous,
but the Lord rescues them from them all.
20 He keeps all their bones;
not one of them will be broken.
21 Evil brings death to the wicked,
and those who hate the righteous will be condemned.
22 The Lord redeems the life of his servants;
none of those who take refuge in him will be condemned.

Good lesson.

As we approach Christmas, it’s interesting that the Pharisees knew in Scripture where the Messiah would be born, but did not seek Him as the Wise Men did.

Joining in Prayer for the Peace of Jerusalem and for our Beloved America.
