Two days ago was the 251st Anniversary ofThe Boston Tea Party. This was a Tax Protest that presaged the American Revolution. Since I was born rebelling (feet first, putting Mom through three days of agonizing labor), the thought of dressing up as Indians and throwing tea into the harbor to protest taxes really appealed to me.

As a hippy teen, I saw many iconic bands at “The Boston Tea Party”, an iconic venue. (Led Zeppelin, Paul Butterfield Blues Band, Grateful Dead, Ten Years After, Etc). Then the Tea Party moved to the Fenway Park area and became too “commercial” for my rebellious nature.

When I was a young adult, the City of Boston set up a“Tea Party Museum” complete with a replica of the HMS Beaver, the “Tea Party” ship.

The "Establishment" was now using this Act of Rebellion as a Money-Making Tourist Attraction.

As Politics and Temperaments changed, being a political conservative evolved into being an act of rebellion against the status quo. I began to rebel against my own rebellion of the 60's and 70's, and in 2009, I became active in the South Florida Tea Party to protest the Obama regime. It was there I met some great people, Joe Kaufman, Lt. Col. Allen West, Joyce Kaufman, and other conservatives. The Tea Party Movement was based on the Acronym "Taxed Enough Already", but also hearkened back to the event in Boston Harbor 251 years ago.

I still struggle with being distrustful and rebellious against "authority". My passion for Liberty and Freedom has, on occasion, clouded my ability to accept People as they are, without wondering if there isn't an agenda involved. Sometimes I am my own worst enemy, but, on the other hand, I've been batted around a lot by The Music Business, Religious Institutions, the Medical Establishment, and the Big Ol' Gub'mint.

Today's Passage about The Holy Spirit offers Hope and Freedom to People who feel the yoke of oppression resulting from Worldly Institutions. This "yoke" may be imaginary, but might even be based upon some actual experiences. The medical term for this anxiety and mistrust based upon trauma is "Post Traumatic Stress Syndrome". It can be totally debilitating if not addressed. I have had some huge disasters in my life, but the "rebellion" has been there forever, even before these traumas occurred. That makes me wonder where it actually comes from. Was it from being born Feet First? Who knows.

I am going to go out on a limb and theorize that the issue isn't mental, but spiritual in nature. If it is a spiritual problem, then it needs to be addressed spiritually. Here's where Today's Scripture offers Comfort and Hope.

While NOT excusing the abuses in Government and Society, we can still embrace the Holy Spirit in His Role as Liberator. It's not what happens to us that matters, it is how we respond to it. Even if one's body is in chains, it is possible to be FREE mentally and spiritually. We can be politically active, work for improving the lives of people, and growing in our own spiritual walk without resorting to the slavery of fear, suspicion, and mistrust.

Now, I think I'll make myself a nice cup of Tea.

I went to CO for a wedding in 2007.

I did some white water rafting and went right by the Coors Factory.

The Rapids were so intense and scary, that I wondered a bit about the water that was being used by the Brewery.

It actually explained the flavor of Coors Light. LOL!
